That's what a Brazilian journal is saying:

Porto Alegre is a city in the south of Brasil. If this is really true, I think they would play at least in Rio de Janeiro or S?o Paulo too, so it wouldn't be just one show here. But take this as a grain of salt, of course.

Please guys stop posting this kind of rumours, there isn't any new information on the note. Well, it's from a newspaper? Not a big deal, journalists nowadays are crap and really don't care to do some research before spreading rumours. I will trust when I see the news coming from gnr.com or from jarmo.

I know that the news are slow now but, these rumours really don't add anything to the forum, only speculation (sp?) and some dumb people saying "omg!!! gnr in brazil!!11" (I know because I'm brazilian).

Sorry, I wish I could come here and say "hey, that's cool, hope it's true" but we know that newspapers and radios always get real information after us, real fans.

Well, I clearly said it is a rumor. I see nothing wrong in speculate and talk about it.

We had many messages from Richard Fortus saying they were planning to play here. So yer, we knew about it before.

But the thing is that maybe they would have info straight from the venue. It happened last year, before the european tour was announced, when we heard rumours about GN'R playing on Download Festival.

I won't hold my breath, but as far as I know this is indeed possible (I dunno about being before CD release).

I keep hearing of this same rumor...guess they are playing.  NO NEW SONGS THOUGH.  Come on now..they haven't played any yet..its not going to happen until AFTER CD is released.

It's not a festival. They talk about other artists playing in the same city, Porto Alegre, this year.

Probably the Velvet Revolver will start the tour for Am?rica do Sul, then I do not find the GN'R impossible to make the same.

I'm from Porto Alegre (I'm living nowadays in Sao Paulo) and I know this newspapper and they're pretty serious. Although they don't name a source for the information i'm sure that it has been said to them by some "official source", something like the company's label in Brazil. It's at this point only a rumor, yes. But Brazil was always a huge land of Guns fans. (At RIR3 the band - after a long time of silence - played after Oasis - that was more popular at the time - and only entered the stage around 2 a.m.. 200.000 people were still there waiting to see them. That shows something, doesn't it?)

Altough it's only a rumor, it is at least a good one. So let's enjoy it.

My wife was at work listened to Atlantida FM a radio station of RBS TV and the DJ mentioned 2 times about that (nothin new) ,RBS is the company that is responsable for the transmission of Rede Globo here in south ,serious company.

I dont think so, but if something is leaked between now and then, they might play it as its already been leaked.

Well, I do hope that becomes true and they come here before the release...but I do hope it's not around the same time that Aerosmith + VR tours here, otherwise I'll be seriously out of cash!  :nervous:

The same website is saying now it's confirmed: Foo Fighters and Guns N' Roses in April, probabily on "Gigantinho" stadium. No other source is saying anything yet, tho.

but I dont like the "proably" in the gigantinho stadium (is that right?). People are saying that this stadium isnt that big, lol. Beira-Rio probably is much bigger.

Beira-Rio is the biggest stadium, but all major shows in Porto Alegre usually takes place in Gigantinho or Ol?mpico (which is another stadium, also big but not as big as Beira-Rio).

Lenny Kravitz, Eric Clapton and Roger Waters had their shows placed at Ol?mpico.  Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chilli Peppers had their shows in Gigantinho. Gigantinho has a capacitiy to receive around 15.000 people.

We talked alone with the people who is in the business to bring the band to Brasil - Porto Alegre and other cities. Well, those people says they have 85% of getting Guns N' Roses to play in Porto Alegre in April or May. The place in talks till now is the "Gigantinho", but, with the demand, it could be a stadium. Of course, the GN'R tour would be a latin-american tour. Since the negotiation is almost done, only Axl Rose could make it not happening. In other words: I would bet in Guns in April.

According to an online posting by journalist Roger Lerina of the Brazilian newspaper Zero Hora, GUNS N' ROSES will perform at the 15,000-capacity Gigantinho stadium in Porto Alegre, Brazil in April. Coincidentally, VELVET REVOLVER ? the band featuring three former GUNS N' ROSES members ? is also scheduled to play South America in April, with AEROSMITH also on the bill for several of the dates. Naturally, there has been no confirmation yet from the GN'R yet regarding the rumored Brazilian show or any other possible 2007 appearances in connection with the band's long-delayed new album, "Chinese Democracy".

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported earlier in the month that GUNS N' ROSES frontman W. Axl Rose was laying down the "final" vocals for "Chinese Democracy" at a recording studio at the Palms hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Axl posted an open letter at the group's web site last month in which he set March 6 as a tentative release date for the disc, adding that the band had scrapped its January tour dates in order to finish work on the album.

A plan to release "Chinese Democracy" late last year fell apart due to what Rose described as "unnecessary and avoidable complications," which were partly responsible for the singer's split with manager Merck Mercuriadis.

Mercuriadis himself said in his own letter than when "Chinese Democracy" finally arrives, it will be "one of the best albums ever made."

The reason why Axl havent confirmed this show yet, could be because he want to get everything ready regarding the album release. I do belive we will get the album before the next GNR concert. Atleast a single and a official release date..

Actually, this newspaper website is wrong. I talked with Foo Fighters booking agent and they ARE NOT coming to Brazil in April, so unhapply, I doubt this info about GnR is right too...

Foo Fighters = 75% confirmed
Guns N' Roses = 85% confirmed
unless it's 100% confirmed, they wont say that they're comming to Brazil

I can try... we here have been lucky with her answers. he tried to send a offer for a emo band called The Used in July 2006 and she never replied. We sent one for FF this day, I can say that their booking fee for Brazil is almost the same or near what GNR is getting when they get only the booking fee, not a percentage of box office.

Seriously guys. Just chill and see what happens. Hell- Axl himself in front of thousands of people said he'd be back in Rio "next summer with a bunch of whole new songs..." in January 2001. Never happened.

To each their own... but it seems like whenever anybody tries to discern what the hell is going on with this band they only get burned... and burn others in the process.

If they play Brazil this year... we'll all know about it. Don't think anybody will miss that announcement given their rabid fan base down there. 8)

I think that there is not a single chance that GNR performs at Gigantinho. That is just a big indoor gym, 18.000 people, like an NBA arena, and GNR has enough fans there in brazil to play in front of a minimum of 50.000 people, talking about one single show.

Maybe they're planning doing several shows in Brazil, because just one show at a venue like Gigantinho is ridiculous

They will not play only in Porto Alegre here in Brazil. But still, Gigantinho wouldn't be the better choice because I'm sure they would have more crowd than 18k there.
