Izzy asked JT (bassist) to upload it Cool And I've asked JT for the regular file of it, hopefully he still has it (he uploaded it on another computer then his)

The song has repetitive lyrics but imo it suits the song, it's plain cool Cool

Yeah probably not too long after LAD was done, atleast in 2003. And it looks like the 'live' footage was shot in Nomad Recording studios where LAD recorded, judging from other recording pics. There where rumours about a possible music video from the start when the info about LAD first came with the 2 samples and pictures back in 2003. But Izzy never confirmed it really, but it was asked to him again recently and I think now he's decided to finally put it out.

Hammerhead along with Chop Away where recorded after the initial sessions for LAD, Izzy was just home and got the idea for the songs and they went back and tracked those songs aswell. JT played bass on the songs during rehearsels for it and that's why he's only playing bass on those two songs and not the other ones where Izzy plays bass. But both of the tracks stayed on the album, there are 2 or 3 other songs that didn't make the cut of the LAD sessions.

Hopefully Izzy will dump the latest solo album from 2005 on iTunes soon, from what Taz and Rick have said about it a few months ago it should be great...

I've refrained from posting here until I've given it a day, but this really isn't very good, is it? Simple kick ass rock n' roll is ok, but this just gets annoying after 20 seconds. The chorus isn't catchy at all, vocals are sub par and the song has no depth at all. Is this the super-duper quality songwriting everybody's always raving about? This proves once more that GNR's strength came from being a band instead of a collection of individuals.

As far as the video concerns, it's good, direct and simple.
As for the lyrics, it's Izzy, he has written a LOT of good ones. If you want to hear good lyrics listen to the whole album.

Yeah you're right... the music of Patience, YCBM, Don't Cry for, 14 Years, Pretty Tied Up, Dust N' Bones suck Wink

You probably haven't heard all his solo stuff so I won't bother mentioning songs from those.

As far as the lyrics go, LAD has some repetitive lyrics on some of the hardrockers. Not all of them. What do you expect? Epic lyrics on these type of songs?

To anyone he can't write good lyrics visit this link and go thru some of the lyrics on all the other solo albums which are more diverse sounding and less hardrock.

Like deep lyrics really matter when you listen to a fast hardrock song like this... the music itself doesn't give much space for lyrics

Dutch

I'm one your side with this one..after all, were both Izzy fans! Grin

I can't believe people are bashing over one song, half of you guys haven't listen to "Like A Dog" yet.
Ok, this song does have repetitive lyrics to it if you don't like that's your opinion but, let's not turn this thread in to a hate Izzy thing.Izzy is a great songwriter. There wouldn't be a GN'R if Izzy wasn't in the band.Izzy wrote/co-wrote half the songs for GN'R and most of them were hits.

Wow, totally unimpressed. Izzy is always the one people say writes the best lyrics. Well this was just god aweful. One of the worst songs I've ever heard.? nervous

^that's ture......Izzy can write whatever he wants too.

I agree, if you just listen to his album "On Down the Road," you can get a better appreciation of his lyrical abilities...certainly LAD is probably his weakest in terms of lyrics.

Izzy wrote some amazing songs : Patience, Don't cry, Double Talkin Jive (Slash's classical guitar solo at the end is a classic), You Could be mine, Brownstone, Shuffle it all, etc

But Hammerhead sucks. Tongue

As a standalone song I can see why some of you think Hammerhead sucks. If you pick up the whole Like A Dog album though it becomes one of the best songs on there... The opening track ("Bomb") is hard rock and it really puts you in the mood for Hammerheads bouncin bass lines  Grin

"Dog" is Izzys weakest album lyric-wise but as someone already said, 'less is more'. Guess you have to hear more than one song for you to understand where Im coming from though.

It changes from timme to time
Among the perfect ones I'd list now "Sweet Caress" "Rolling On" "Chop Away".
But that is just me.
Go on and buy all his albuns.
If you like blues-based rock n' roll (classic GN'R, Stones, ACDC, Aerosmith), you won't regret!
