Title: Miami/itunes Reviews
Post by: Badapple89 on June 06, 2007, 05:05:36 PM
I just noticed that Marcus from Beenafix has added his own review of the new album so i though i'd add my own too.
Not sure if they'll put it up at all but here it is anyway

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The mastermind behind such rock classics as "Mr. Brownstone", "Patience" and "You Could Be Mine" returns with a fantastic new album.
It all went horribly wrong for Guns N' Roses when Izzy Stradlin walked out on them at the end of 1991 and while his former bandmates continue to either be working on or releasing mediocre albums, Izzy continues to dazzle us all with his amazing ability to write a simple but great sounding rock tune. The new album, titled "Miami", is jam packed full of fast-paced, straight forward rockers. Starting of with "Tj", Izzy doesnt seem to want to stop as he goes straight into "Buildings In The Sky" and "Let It Go", a message to a certain Mr. Rose perhaps?
"Jr's Song" is an unusual song that has an operatic voice to go along with Izzy's own "keef-style" vocals. I say unusual, but fun. "Partly Cloudy" is a chilled out and laid back number with a four minute reggae playout. "Waiting" is a classic Izzy Stradlin song with a great sing-along chorus which is very reminescent of Izzy's own "Gotta Say" from his 1998 album "117 Degrees".
"Bombs Away" is a straight forward rocker in a similar vein to his own "Chop Away" from 2005's "Like A Dog" and has a riff kinda like the T-Rex classic, "Telegram Sam" which is never a bad thing. "Tuff Check" is another straight forward rocker, no messing and so is "Pick Up The Phone". Wonder who that ones about?
"Everything's Alright" is just genius and proves who the main man was in Guns, as if you had any doubts. The album fades way with a fun reggae track called "FSO Ragga", take it for what it is because it sounds like it was fun to be there.
I tried to keep this review straight forward with no messing and thats basically what this album is, definately worth the price and better than anything you'll hear by Axl and Co., if you do actually get to hear anything by them at all

Couldn't agree with you more.  "Miami" is a great album from start to finish.  Gotta thank Izzy for releasing it for the fans.

"JR's Song" 02:38

Sure enough he's gonna get smacked down and get it
He just won't do, what he's told too
He's gonna get cracked, once again
The boy's outta hand, he's already bend
He won't be good, no matter what's said

All in his head, Junior's a mess
All in sure enough he's gonna get smacked down and get it

Sure enough he's gonna get smacked down and get it

Well let me tell you Bob my golfswing uh hang on a second
Junior, off the shed, off the damn sh get off the shed
Junior get off the goddamn shed, off the shed
Sorry, anyway you like uh mustard on your hamburger?

Sure enough he's gonna get smacked down and get it

At the playground, up to no good
He just don't give a rats (?), breaking plants
The boy's outta fun, in the court of sun
He just don't get, allong with Paula's kids

All in his head, Junior's a mess
All in his head, Junior's a mess
All in his head, Junior's a mess
All in his sure enough he's going to get smacked down and get it bullseye

I think you'll find that was Marcus from HereTodayGoneToHell who added a review...

I don't think i'm registered on beenafix.com...i tried to, and it wouldn't work.  But yeah, tis a great album.  And good review too.  And they put it up.

We need people too review, then more people will buy, then Izzy will tour!!

The site crashed last year and everyone needed to re-register.

Try it again...should work.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but this is also Izzy's LONGEST album, to date, at JUST under an hour.

yeah it is a tad longer than his previous ones, with the exception of JJH's and 117.  The songs on Miami are more complete and have longer lyrics than other.  Great album.
