I've heard this one is terrible. I heard Musicology was great. So, given the tendencies of modern media, this is probably a good one.  Smiley I'll have to check it out sometime.

Its different so on the first listen u are kind of taken aback by it.

Lyrically its not one of his greatest efforts but the music is flawless.

3121 is fantastic - It destroys Musicology in every way. While that CD had its moments, it wasn't the "comeback" disc that I was hoping for. 3121 is the real deal.

Loving 3121, Love, The Word, and The Dance...

As always, the variety of sounds on the record are most impressive. Prince is indeed a crazy motherfucker, but the man's a genius musically.

Indeed, Fury is one of the only weak links on the entire record (Satisfied being the other... it's decent, but nothing the man hasn't done better a thousand times over). The SNL version was way more impressive.

Currently really loving Incense and Candles - Trippy vocal manipulations on that one.

Best Prince album since The Gold Experience in '95, easily.

actually my fav album of the Symbol Era is "Emanciption" Gold Experience would be 2nd for me.

3121 is great musically, Im not sure if I like it better than "Musicology"  the music is better on 3121 but the songs on Musicology are a notch better in my opinion.

buy Purple Rain and remember while listening that he is playing every single instrument by himself.

So sorry, D old boy, but I'm going to have to correct you on that one. Prince actually recorded few songs on the Purple Rain Soundtrack with the Revolution. In fact, the final version of Purple Rain and Computer blue are basically live recordings from a show that Prince and the Revolution performed at First Avenue, MPLS in August 1983 (with a few overdubs thrown in for good measure).

Anyway, enough with the trivia. I bought 3121 on the day of its release, and while I like it, I prefer Musiclogy overall. 3121's strongest suit is its dancier tracks (like 'Love', 'Get on the Boat', and the fantastic 'Black Sweat'), and I'm also digging 'Beautiful Loved and Blessed'. 'Fury' pales next to the live versions I have heard, though. Overall, I think that while it doesn't break any new ground, 3121 at least matches the best of Princes criminally ignored mid 90's output. Even the artwork recalls the 'Emancipation' and 'Gold Experience' albums.

That Black Sweat song has to be about the crappest thing i've heard in years - sounds like it was a b-side from Michael Jackson's Dangerous album - identical style, heard it all before and some 15 years ago....
