Here Today...

« on: August 26, 2004, 07:29:14 PM »

After listening the wonderful Village Gorilla Head, I wonder if Tommy will contribute any vocals to Chinese Democracy?  Him and Ax could do some great work together on the slower tempo songs.   Most of all, I am surprised Axl did not want a few of these songs for Chinese Democracy:  I think Without a View and Motivation would be great GNR songs.

Oh well, off to the Ashford to see the show.  Anyone else going tonight?

Love the board, and keeping my fingers crossed for a release in the next year!  Keep the hope Gunners!

It would be cool if every song on CD was not with Axl on lead vocals. I liked when on the Illusion albums Izzy and Duff were given a song or 2. With Tommy singing on a track or two GNR would seem more like a band than Axl and his hired Guns.

Tommy and Robin do a lot of backing vocals. A lot of very good backing vocals.

Yeah, Tommy and Robin both have great voices, and the backing vocals thus far have been amazing. I dunno, though, it just seems tacked on when another member of the band sings on an album. I mean, it's okay for like an EP or a live show, but it just bothers me. 'So Fine' could have been an amazing song, but Duff singing ruined it. Not that he's a bad singer, but Axl is such a monstrous talent, he needs the song to be his...

The only 2 songs I can truly see new gnr doing would be "mOtivation" and "OK"

If Axl sang on Motivation it would be amazing.

And "OK" reminds me of like new gnrs own "patience"....

What a wonderful album! Tommy will be coming to NJ in Sept. so im going to do my best to see him. Cant wait....

I would not want to see the Tommy or Finck sing on a new record (although they both are good vocalists, IMO). I think it would be cool if in a future tour Tommy would be able to play a few VGH songs during a set.

Nothing against Tommy or Robin, but let's leave the lead vox on the record to Axl. ok

Exactly - we haven't waited 10 years to hear songs by them, if we were we'd have just gone for one of their albums.

That would be pretty cool to hear Axl let Tommy play one of his solo songs on the next tour with the GN'R guys. I can picture Axl saying like "This next song is sung by Mr. Thomas Eugene Stinson, this is off his solo record 'Village Gorilla Head', this is called 'Motivation.' "
