The absence of any kind of relative consensus on what are the first, second and third worst songs at the start reflects so much about the album itself. The only consensus I can relatively see is the three top songs. The rest seems like pretty much on the same level.
I'm really curious if there are gonna be any similarities in the results with the previous round from 2015. My bet is it's gonna be pretty random except the top three. Well, because it's musically interesting. I actually like when they go outside their comfort zone usually. Some of Slash's best solo material were his ballads. But punk has never really interested me anyway. Too much simplistic strumming of chords, it's all way too similar. Classic Rock is somewhere in between; not proggy to the point of being boring, but also not super simple to the point of being boring. I think the reason for it is quite easy. The voting reflects it too. The album lacks... I don't want to say hits, but strong, objectively powerful material. Except the three top songs in the voting - those are the only ones that reflect some form of consensus here. Everybody agrees they are good. But the rest... the rest leaves you in a much more subjective field. Most of them are not objectively strong, but some of us may find them subjectively so. For whatever reasons - melody, specific color of Axl's voice, some solos, energy - whatever. That's why the voting of this album might seem much more strange. The very nature of this album leaves the voting much more subjective. It would be however interesting to have a bonus round with all the special singles (like Oh My God and Sympathy for the Devil), unreleased songs (like Crash Diet) and some other recordings - some of it released with the AFD remaster (like Jumping Jack Flash, Heartbreak Hotel). Ain't it Fun is definitely the best song on the album in my opinion. I actually played some Dead Boys yesterday because of it, and I noticed how much GnR is influenced by them :peace:
