You made my point  better than I could ever hope.
The thread was locked, as I expected, which proves the validity of my argument.
Revolutions have swept EE, CEE, FSU, from people in search of freedom of speech.
Just an observation.
How long until this thread is locked?
Think about it.

Why was the "irony of this website" locked?
It broke no rules, did not insult anyone, was not done before.
It made a good point.
But there is no freedom of speech here.
It was locked because of of mod intolerance for free thought and expression (AGChristos); and because I spoke the truth that struck a nerve among the autocrats. "Some are equal, but some are more  equal than others."
(George Orwell, 1948).
Lock the topic, but freedom lives!
And GNR does not recognize your rules!

Dude let it go, it's not like Jarmo is broadcasting himself over your television screen and threatening you to obey big brother or die.  Heretodaygonetohell isn't the Bill of Rights, it's a fucking message board...if you make a crappy post and it gets deleted, suck it up...move on.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Now I get it.
The spirit of repression may be  dated to the actual GNR. Check it out, as posted in another section on this site. No criticism  of the band  (or, subsequently, this unofficial website), is permitted.
I apologize profusely, over and over, into eternity. Jarmo is the supreme  being, and he not only is all-knowing, but his brightness  is 1000000000 times greater  than than all the suns of the univrse, and his knowledge is greater than any human can hope to attain. I bow in humility before your greatness, and pray for forgiveness and redemption, for now and evermore into the future.

I can't remember if you've posted this type of thread before (I usually never do), so I'll try this one time to explain to you why that thread was locked, and give a recap of why sometimes posts that a poster thinks has a good and a valid point end up being locked.

We have a similar thread, just like yours appear almost _every_ month here. It points out that the locking of the threads is inconsistent, and usually that /J's a nazi, or that the mods have a grudge with some people and automatically lock some people's posts.

There are reasons why someone might get an idea that this would be the case.

All the mods are people. All different. All from different backgrounds, all interpreting the rules a bit differently. Although the goal of our actions is always to make the board a better place for the common poster to post. Not to let a few individuals 'ruin' the board.

The thing you say about negative critisism not being allowed is not really true. If you look at only a small percentage of posts, and only take a quick look at the board, you may think this'd be the case. I, for one, have no problem with people not agreeing with what GN'R as a band does, or doesn't do. What members they do, or don't have. But: Always, always there should be something to back up the opinion. All the posts like "this and this person sucks and is no good, and nowhere as good as this and this original member" are not all that informative. Okay. They do point out their opinion, but usually have no "why's" or "why not's" included. Then there's the other case where a person might write a page long post about the same subject, but the post still gets locked. This might seem confusing to a few posters.

This is usually because of 1 of 2 things. First. If a we see that a certain poster is doing nothing, but posting repetitively the same negative argument (is for example in every thread bringing out how much he/she is not pleased by something with the band), or just trying to find the negative in everything the band does, or just try to find a negative aspect to see in virtually _every_ thread they post at, it will usually end up with his posts being locked. This has to do with the fact that this is a fanboard. A place for the fans of GN'R, new and old, to discuss the band. Now at some point a few of us will start to question his motives of his stay here. Usually this is replied to with a "you're being a nazi, long live free speech", and in some more rare cases with a "I'm a fan of the old band, not the new - and it's a place for the both, so...". Well. For the first, all I can say is (the same thing that we say every time this type of thing happens): "You can go find yourself another messageboard where this type of behavior is accepted. This is not the place. Especially with an argument as good as that." For the "this is a place for both..." argument it is usually suggested to the poster to only view the threads about the old band. And even there, it encouraged to concentrate on the things that you feel are the reasons for you being a fan of the band. "The original band in no point had a guy in a mask" is not a reason to be a fan.

The 2nd of the 2 things is that when something 'bigger' is happening, the mods' workload is huge, as the same thing is usually posted in multiple threads. The forum becomes unreadable for a number of reasons. Half of these posts are the "OMG Can't believe it.. Amazing lol rofl rofl blah" ones. At a time like this, when there's something active, and to our minds, interesting going on at the GN'R world, moderator is more likely to move a maybe valid but not as recent post to dead horse. Sometimes if we see that a certain type of thread exists already, even in a dead horse section, we lock / delete the post from the main section so that it wouldn't be cluttered. This is not intentional cencorship as I hope you can see. The reason this is viewed as such, is usually because the moved thread is a "Axl's late because he doesn't care for his fans", or some "Guitarist A is nowhere near as good as Guitarist B". Now if we're in an active phase, a moderator will feel that we have more recent things to discuss than the old topics beaten to death a 100 times. These are the types of things that cause most of the tears. We simply don't always have the time to write long answers and give specific reasons why a certain post is moved/locked/deleted. That is when a moderator might give the poster the simple "Being here is voluntary" answer. It is not the preferred option, but sometimes we're in a too big of a hurry, and too tired of answering the same thing over and over again, and explaining the reasons why we do what we do.

And that really is the bottom line. Being here _is_ voluntary. You don't have to be here. You can suggest changes to the board, but if they don't go through, constant complaining about it will not make a difference. It _is_ /J's board and he can take it to which ever direction he wants. He has never said he is all-knowing (at least I can't think of a time). You say it's censorship not to allow certain types of posts here. Well, the thing is that it is not a democracy here. Why? Because the owner of the board (a messageboard, not a country) doesn't want it to be one. He has a pretty clear vision of what sort of a place he wants this to be. If you wish to be a part of it, you will have to play by his rules, and even accept the fact that these rules can be changed to meet the 'challenges of time'.

The "GN'R was not about order and had more to do with anarchy" argument can't be applied here. This is a discussion board about the band, its members, and its music. This is not the best of comparisons, but will do (the argument itself is no the best I've seen): Although for example a riot may be about anarchy and mayhem, a discussion of that riot doesn't have to be all that. It can, but the leader of this discussion has decided otherwise. And he's not even forcing anyone to stay.

P.S. The attitude in your posts in this thread is really not the kind of thing that is looked kindly upon here. You being a guy with over 1000 posts should know that.

Think about it.

You can moan all you want. Jarmo replied right after me and kept the thread locked.

So, guess what... I will lock this thread as I've promised.

You can start countless threads about the same thing. Your post count tells me nothing. You could have 20.000 posts, I still wouldn't care. Many posts don't validate your opinion.

Unfortunately for you this is not a public board. Someone pays and sets the rules. And you HAVE to follow them. Revolutions were started for public rights.

You want a revolution?

Go start a forum, pay for it and set your own rules. As long as you're stayin in Jarmo's backyard, you'll be playing with Jarmo's rules.

Like it? Stay.

Don't? Leave.

I don't care what you think of me. THAT SIMPLE...
