Not sure if this the right area to post, but I saw an awesome GNR tribute band last night called 'Bad Obsession' at the Rock Cafe in Stourbridge (England). They played lots of Appetitie, also 'Civil War', 'Move to the City', 'Live and Let Die', 'Don't Cry' and even the theme to the godfather!

I'm painfully aware of how hard it must be to capture GNR in every sense, music, image and especially Axl's voice, but these guys did it all well. And they were a whole load of fun as well.

I would like to discuss what other gnr tribute bands people have seen, whether they thought they were any good?

Can anyone tell me how to upload a photos to the message? I would like to post a  few photos of the gig.

A couple of years ago, i went to see a GnR tribute band named 'Gunz N' Rosez'.

They played a complete set, and were very good.  IMO Axl is by far the hardest to catch and copy the essence.

This was at a place called the Fleece and Firkin in Bristol, UK, and for the place it was relatively expensive and very very busy.

Good night all in all.  yes

i have a gn'r tribute band myself. i'm "slash". i even got the wig and the top hat (besides the obvious gibson les paul). we're called Stick To Your Guns, we've played only 3 shows and we're getting a new "Axl", since it was our weakest part. musicwise we're pretty good, i can say it!

Hi Scabbie, nice to see someone else from the Midlands, UK here.

I saw Bad Obsession about a year ago and they kicked ass. I'm going to see them on Saturday again  ok

btw, when I saw them they had a different Axl who left (to do a neil diamond tribute!!!!!!!!). He was very very good, how's the new Axl?

Aha, my brother has seen Gunz and Rosez (I think the 'Axl' appeared in stars in your eyes or something), but said that Bad Obsession were much better! He said the problem with Gunz and Rosez was that you couldn't but help laugh  :hihi:and obviously this is not ideal for rocking out!

Mutherfunker how was the gig on Saturday?

Personally I thought the Axl was very good. Only 22 years old, never had a vocal lesson in his life....which aint bad really!

There was a really good Guns N' Roses cover band in Australia a few years back.
I can't remember their name, but they were quite good. Only problem is that they really believed they were GN'R, and the singer was a bit of an ass.

That sounds good man, I can play guitar, but I'm no Slash, so I guess I'll just be Izzy then! hehe

I just remembered the name of the Aussie tribute band, I think they were called November Rain.

Could be the same guy, i caught stars in their eyes - hmmmm

Yeah i must admit, they went overboard with the American accent, and talking shit inbetween songs - stuff that Axl would never say.

But it's better not to take it too serioulsy, as they will never actually be GnR.

I'm glad he came back. He's awesome. He looks and sounds like a young Axl! Really gave it everything. He talks like Axl in between the songs but in a nice way (not talking shit or anything for the hell of it).

Really good band.

Scabbie, I'm going to see the band on Saturday 17th, I'll post here afterwards  ok

Wednesday 5th  Chicago Rock Worcester
Friday 7th  The Barn @ Cattle Berkeley, Glos
Saturday 8th   Private Party  ....wouldn't you like to know !!!!
Monday 10th  Brannigans Birmingham
Friday 14th  Hibernian Stirchley, Birmingham
Saturday 15th  The Little Civic Wolverhampton
Sunday 16th  The Nags Head Nuneaton
Friday 21st  The Rigger Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffs
Saturday 22nd  JB's Dudley, Birmingham

The cover band Nightrain that is based in Chicago, fucken Rocks.  They are the best I have seen.  His voice is just like Axls.  Dizzy Reed was playing the same night and even he said that it was scary on how similar they were.  Dizzy played two songs with them.  Yesterdays and Nightrain.  He was on keyboards and it just rocked.  Hard to imagine after seeing them that there is a better cover band.  If you can go see them.

I saw Bad obsesion at the hard rock cafe Banbury a few months back. Very good performance, very bad wigs.

The Axl guy was good, he came close to pulling off the high notes, but there IS NO comparison to the real thing.
