Title: Was GN'R supposed to be on the Kiss tribute album?
Post by: jarmo on May 25, 2004, 08:18:50 AM
As I sit here "listening" to Gene Simmons' awful new single on the radio,  :crying: , I remembered a thing I read back when the Kiss tribute album was announced.

If I remember correctly, it was rumored GN'R was supposed to take part in it. I have a memory of hearing they'd do "Calling Dr. Love". Anybody remember anything about this?

I do remember something about this. I also remember when Axl was rumored to perform on the second Frank Sinatra "Duets" album way back when. It would be interesting if a comprehensive book on the band came out and filled in all these blanks.

The bassist, whose previous solo album was a 1978 self-titled set released the same day as solo sets from his three Kiss bandmates -- singer/guitarist Paul Stanley, singer Ace Frehley, and drummer Peter Criss -- is also courting the likes of John Mellencamp, Axl Rose, and Trey Anastasio for guest vocals.

Kiss also kicked out motley crue from their tour (in 81-82) because of bad behaviour... Years after they wanted rights for their story or something

Kiss are money whores. They will put their name on anything to make a buck. Come on their farewell tour has lasted what 6 years now?  I'm glad Axl didnt lower himself onto a Kiss Tribute ALbum. Axl deserves better.
