They often change up the covers with each different tour.  Would love to see them do Queen's Keep Yourself Alive, but I think it's a good bet we'll see something from Motorhead or Bowie, which would also be nice.

jamming Estranged right now.......would be my only requirement.....think about it. Axl Slash and Duff fucking locked in....lyrics on point. I know that this was written about Erin. However, the genius of a truly great songwriter is someone who can write a song in a way that has a timeless feeling and can apply to multiple situations that can occur in your life. From the mid section instrumental break to the end.....wow. All 3 can stare in the mirror and relate.

When I find out all the reasons
Maybe I'll find another way
Find another day
With all the changing seasons of my life
Maybe I'll get it right next time
An now that you've been broken down
Got your head out of the clouds
You're back down on the ground
And you don't talk so loud
An you don't walk so proud
Any more, and what for

Well I jumped into the river too many times
to make it home
I'm out here on my own, an drifting all alone
If it doesn't show give it time
To read between the lines
'Cause I see the storm getting closer
And the waves they get so high
Seems everything We've ever known's here
Why must it drift away and die

I'll never find anyone to replace you
Guess I'll have to make it thru, this time
Oh this time
Without you

I knew the storm was getting closer
And all my friends said I was high
But everything we've ever known's here
I never wanted it to die

Pretty sure we know the lyrics to this song.

What are you even talking about man?

Pretty sure Slash hated playing this song too. Wink

I just want 24 songs at least. I think that is reasonable.

8 from AFD
12 from UYI
2 from CD
2 new or covers

something like that. That is what I would prefer.

I can't picture Richard Fortus cosplaying Gilby Clarke. Makes more sense they doing something new.

It would be cool to see it, but it would look weird I think.

I'm all for it. Just happy to have the chance to see them.

Maybe.

Are you suggesting Richard hasn't played parts that others have played before him?  Wink

I'm TELLING YOU that makes no sense the act of imitating a solo piece performed by a different pair of guitarrists which is not a GN'R's song.

Ashba never played Hendrix before Civil War. Finck never played The Godfather's theme. Bumblefoot and Fortus never played Christina Aguilera's song.

Next time I can draw, if necessary.  Wink

The Ashba and Finck example is different, that's pretty much a Slash solo spot in its own.

Wild Horses, not completely a solo piece though, Axl and Duff are part of it also. Slash plays the main guitar part in the song as well.

In this case Izzy did it with Slash before Gilby. So the ideal situation would be if they do it again with Izzy. Now if that is not posible. Then why not keep doing it with Richard

Actually... no. Let's see what Gilby says on his interview to Guitar World, 1992:

"You mentioned earlier that you were into Keith Richards. His influence comes through on your solo spot. I thought it was a bold move to get up and simply play "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones.
I didn't even know that I was getting a solo spot until the day before the first gig! They just came up to me and said, "So what are you going to play in your solo segment?" I mean, why would I get a solo segment? So then Axl said, "Well, Izzy always used to do a little solo before 'Patience.' Do you think you can come up with something?" I just didn't want to get out there and do a lead guitar thing. Slash is the lead guitarist. So I decided to play "Wild Horses," which is one of my favorite songs. Lately, I've been doing a slide guitar thing around The Beatles' "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds." Both of those songs tell you where I'm coming from."

So that was something brought by Gilby himself.

And "why not keep doing it with Richard"? Well... maybe because he has some personality? I mean, one thing is being a GN'R's guitarist, you are supposed to play stuff like, I don't know, the band's songs, right? Another thing is playing a solo performance created by a previous musician in his improvisation moment.

Why you say no? It says there Izzy used to do a little solo before Patience. Do they have any obligation to play Wild Horses? Of course Not. But if I have to pick one I pick Wild Horses.  I think it would really cool if they bring it back

I was talking about playing the same solo piece that a previous member has already played.

i heard Motorhead's version of Sympathy for the Devil last night and it got me thinking....how cool would it be if GnR opened with that. it would sorta be a joke that they are just picking up right where they left off. and it would also erase some of the negative vibes that go along with that song for GnR fans.
