This happened in Calgary in 1991 as well, but they did it at the planetarium so they had a laser light show go along with new material from UYI. Of course they didn't play both albums completely, but a good chunk of the best songs from them.

I'm bummed, just found out from my local BEST BUY (Riverhead NY), that they will not be opening at mid-night for the GN'R CD Reease....
But I guess that makes sense, considering BB are the only ones selling the cd..They are only competing w/ themselves..Why open at an odd hour and pay OT? Besides  Also they sell cd's to get people in the store in hopes of making multiple purchases..With a midnight release who would shop for anyhting other than a $12.00 cd..I probably wont regardless.. The torture of it for me is I have to work 8-4 on 11/23/08..

It's looking more and more like midnight sales aren't going to occur at Best Buy, which is ok.

I'm just gonna run to the one about 2 miles from my house then commence with my party. Many people are coming over to listen to CD for the first several times and drink that 50 year old whiskey!!  peace

Russ, pass me that bottle...Most of my friends who happen to be pumped for the CD live out of state now.  I was really looking forward to meeting some fellow board members while hanging out at one of the BB stores in Manhattan, but it appears as though a midnight release was not to be.

I bothered the fine people at Best Buy last Saturday.  They do not plan on opening at midnight here either.  They also said they didn't have any copies of the CD yet.

I'm gonna call the district manager and raise hell.

i was trying to reply to this last night - when it soon became apparent to me that some of my laptop keys are broken... mysteriously the letters "C" and "D" no longer work....!!! CD - it's a conspiracy!  thought it was funny, before I couldnt log into any of my accounts or download the latest itunes...grrr!

Anyhoo!  I have a friend who runs a bar in central London of a rock persuasion - will ask her if she's got anything planned and suggest it to her if not.  Had hoped at one stage to hire somewhere and do it myself, but its not possible at the moment.  Will of course post if anything comes of it!   beer

Anyone in the CT (or Southern MA, RI) area up for a little get together at some local watering hole in the Hartford/West Hartford area the night BEFORE release (so, the 22nd)?  I've gotten 5 or 6 takers, so far...

I'll post specifics once I get 'em on location.
