Avenged Sevenfold would be ideal.

that would be the best show of my life as they are 2 of my top 3 bands of all time.  Avenged is a headliner now though, they have been filling arenas on their own, I can't really see them opening up for anyone anytime soon.  Although if there was a band they would probably make an exception for it would be Guns N Roses, as they are all HUGE fans, especially their singer M. Shadows.  From interviews with him,  I get the impression that he is a fan on the level of people here on the board, not just an average fan.  I'll tell you one thing, there would not be an empty seat in any arena in any market if GNR and A7X joined forces.

Exactly.  Would kind of be reminiscent of the Aerosmith & Guns N' Roses bill in 1988, as A7X cites GNR as one of their main influences.  Would PACK arenas too.

Bas is cool, but his inclusion wouldn't really help fill arenas.  Plus the states got that bill already during the last tour.  If not A7X, a similar, more modern rock band would be cool.   I hear The Darkness are working on a new album.  yes

Edit: Just saw that Korn have an album out in November and have expressed interest in touring with GNR in the past, just sayin...

A7x is doing Uproar just saw them last night. Not really an option.

Soundgarden is too big at this point, they can draw 15,000 on their own. Also, Matt is on tour for the PJ20 tour so they'd probably be minus a drummer (maybe that tour will be over by then but still unlikely).

I'd love to see:

Deftones
Jane's Addiction
Faith No More
Megadeth (hell, GN'R toured with Metallica and Megadeth at least never sold out even if Mustaine is an ass)
Black Tide (but they're currently on Uproar as well... but more reasonable than A7x who are really too big to be "openers" at this point)

And I know I might be in a minority but I enjoyed the Suicide Girls  hihi

I saw A7X open for Gn'R at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2006, so I can confirm that they were, and would be, an awesome combination!  ok

Yeah, Chris and Rich are both touring separately as solo acts this fall into next year. But yeah, I'd be cool with no opener at all come to think of it.

People who I'd like to see opening for GN'R and I think could be available...

Black Stone Cherry
Bobot Adrenaline (the singer's a friend of Tommy's)
Manic Street Preachers
Apocalyptica
Return To Earth (the singer's a friend of Ron's)
Smashing Pumpkins would be cool, but they're touring Europe at the time
Korn
Stone Sour
Avenged Sevenfold
Noel Gallagher
Jane's Addiction
Evanescence

Smashing Pumpkins would be cool, as well as Jane's, but I don't think they would do it.  How about Alice N' Chains?  I think that would be a great bill and I believe Axl and Jerry are friends.  I really want someone well known and exciting band as a opener this time around.  Get a big time band to open, so you can have no reason to miss any of the opening act.

if there has to be an opener, AIC would be great (even though i thought the last record sucked). or maybe the new york dolls? i saw someone mentioned graveyard...graveyard would be bad-ass.  but really, if given my druthers...no opener.

AIC still puts on a great show, considering what they've been through. I probably wouldn't pay to see them as headliners again, but would show up to see em open for Guns.
Same with the New York Dolls, but not sure they were meant to play stadiums.
I like the Pumpkins, but the new incarnation was far and away the worst live band I've ever seen.

Which new incarnation? I saw the line-up that toured Zeitgeist play at Reading and really enjoyed it. Have just got tickets to the new new incarnation at Brixton Academy. I've really liked the Teargarden By Kaleidyscope stuff they've released so far, so I'm hoping they don't suck.

It was a couple years ago. I admit I haven't kept up with them since, so not sure if lineup has changed.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since I've only seen them the one time, maybe just an off night.

Danko was great imo. Primal Fear from germany is cool live too. Manowar, Sabaton ...

I can't see Mastodon opening for Gn'R, but I would love to considering they're one of my favorite bands and pretty much the premier metal band going today.  They will be on tour through november and december however headlinging with dillinger escape plan opening up.

Bands I'd like to see open up for Gn'R.

Alice In Chains (would be a great fit)
Queens of the Stone Age (obviously would never do it but would be a fucking great show)
Avenged Sevenfold
Buckcherry
Deftones
Weezer
Godsmack
Rob Zombie
Incubus

Someone kind of relevant to today's music but who still rocks hard.

Please no more Bach.  It'd be nice of Gn'R could tour with someone that anyone under the age of 35 has heard of.  I'm sure the openers will be weak as they've been ever since Gn'R's return though...

i like sebastian.

but i don't want gnr to be thought of as a nostalgia act (even thought they're gonna be), and if they take the lead singer for skid row out on tour...again...for the third straight fucking decade...well, they may as well take poison.  at least they'll sell a few tickets.  (i mean to the general public, not us weirdos who want them to play "breakdown" or the fucking manson cover.)

besides, if it happens again, doesn't it make bas the washington generals to axl's globetrotters?  he'd be like axl's sammy shore; he may as well join the show permanently.

it's gotta be somebody who's at least relevant.

once again, i really like sebastian. i think he's great.

have i said i don't think there should be an opener?

I don't know why you people don't like Danko Jones, dude rocked when I saw him live. We had two opening acts on the show I went and most of the people I talked to said Danko owned the other one (Wasted Generation, up and coming rock band from Croatia).

I think a band that deserves a spot like this and will also pump the crowd right up is Blacktide and possibly Airbourne!

This is a hard one really because there arn't any standout bands who would be perfect for the slot. But I think bands like AX7 and Sebastian Bach would be great. And when GN'R come to the UK/Europe again, I would love to see The Darkness as an opening act.  Grin

Seconded. Now there's some guys who LOVE music and they could win over a GN'R crowd while warming them up at the same time!
