back from the concert, i cant remember the exact order the songs were played in but they played everything off Contraband but Spectacle and "Loving the Alien"

Hoobastank were ok, i only recognized a few of their songs and u couldnt make out the vocals hardly at all.

VR didnt get on stage till after 9:30, some people behind us were yelling come on Axl I mean Scott.

Atlanta seemed like a total "PRO" GNR crowd.

Hoobastank even asked how many GNR fans were there and the place exploded.

the biggest cheers of the night went to the 2 GNR songs and some people in front of us left right after Its So Easy/Sex Type Thing.

Overall the concert was ok, When i saw Prince and then Bon Jovi it was like a religious totally moving experience, but this concert i just didnt feel that overwhelming feeling.

Scott is amazing, he held up his end, definitely one of the best frontmen going by far but what disappointed me was Slash.

Halfway through the concert i turned to Journey and said "Im glad Axl has a new band"

Slash and Duff were somewhat underwhelming, they just sorta stood there the entire concert for the most part, Slash fucked up i dont know how many times and very very very badly during the YGNR solo

Matt's YCBM intro before Brownstone was awesome.

I love the entire Contraband CD but I didnt know how much I missed GNR until they played Its So Easy and Brownstone, they really shouldn't play those songs, cause after they played Its So Easy, the crowd wanted more GNR.

I love the entire Contraband CD and I am a huge VR fan but I cant lie, I wanted GNR after hearing the two GNR songs.

Slash needs to kick whoever put that tattoo on his stomach's ass.

it said LASH, the "S" must not have took or something but it looked ridiculous.

Good concert, not in my top 5 though, my ears werent even ringing afterwards

when the band left before the encore, the Velvet Revolver sign lights up for people to chant "Vel Vet  revolver, either the crowd was too drunk or didnt get the hint cause very few were chanting it, I started a mini "Guns n Roses" chant which got a laugh and then we said shit like "Guns n Revovler"  or Hoobastank Revolver or Velvet Roses.

Scott Weiland however is/was amazing!!

He truly is an amazing frontman.

Dave Kushner was the next best after Scott, he was all over the place, jumping over shit, his guitar was down too low however and u couldnt hear his dueling solos that much and Slash's really overpowered his.

the place was packed, the only part that wasnt sold out was the lawn

the crowd was into it, I was into it like hell as well, we were sort of in a lame section where most people just stood, so it kind of sucks when your section is made up of too many "Cool" people who wont dance or head bang

me,journey and this guy next to us were rockin out the whole show

I didnt mean to sound negative in my review, but i read everyone else's review and our concert just didnt seem to include those elements.

maybe Slash did more stuff while i was watching Scott, but he just didnt seem all that energetic to me.

Scott also threw his microphone into the crowd at the end of the concert so some lucky bastard got to go home with Scott's mic.

Hey Drew, was that u crowd surfing? :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

I thought the concert rocked.  This was my 2nd VR show and it is true that Slash didn't move around a lot but he's playing was awesome.  I thought the show was tighter than the one in December and it was nice that Scott decided to lay off the megaphone.  He seemed to use it in every song in Dec.  I thought they rocked and my friends and I had a great time.  My ears are still ringing!!
PS  The cover of "Wish you were here" was awesome.  I still would like to hear Alien live.

What the heck was wrong with Slash that night?  I just saw him last week in Detroit and he was on fire.  Never stopped moving and played perfectly.  Maybe he was tired/drunk.  Glad you had a good time and the crowd was decent.

Dont get me wrong, i had a hell of a great time but i read the other reviews and last night wasnt like that.

Scott fucked the words up on YGNR also :hihi:

and what was with that pussy piano on YGNR Matt Sorum? I thought u didnt sign up for shit like that?

they had it hid behind some speakers but i saw them wheel it in and heard it during the song.

Illegal I doesnt sound the greatest in concert, Scott just mumbles a bunch of shit, i know the lyrics and I was like "what the fuck is he sayin??" :hihi:

Im not hating on Slash but I was a bit disappointed in his performance.

Dirty Little Thing was probably my highlight, I love that fucking song and we were headbanging the fuck out of it.

Headspace also needs to be a single, that shit rocked also!

I feel bad for you D as I know you were fired up about going for a while. I have read various reports from people who have seen the band frequently who all seemed to be in agreement that something was certainly up with Slash last night as he didn't appear to be himself.

I wish you could have seen them when he is hopping all over the place and the band was totally on as it really is a cool experience. Having seen New GNR and VR (on a good night) seperately.....I left both shows not thinking how much I loved the bands(I do) but wondering what it would have been like to see all of them together. I loved seeing Brownstone and Its So Easy by VR, but it wasn't the same without Axl. I loved seeing Axl sing NR and SCOM, but the solos just never felt right without Slash. Seeing both on good nights just left me sad thinking about how ridiculous it is they are not together.

As far as your comment about the Prince and Bon Jovi shows having been moving, I would think that is only natural. VR has been around about a year. Prince and Bon Jovi each have 10 albums and 20 years under their belt. You grow with a band and become emotionally attached to them, kind of like we all have to whatever semblance of GNR we think exists. VR just isn't going to create that same type of Aura. A good rock show yes, but the newness makes it harder for a mass audience to have grown with the band over time the way in which you described.

I love VR though and seeing Slash and Duff after all these years i just thought id feel a closer connection but I didnt

have VR been coming on late at the other shows?

they didnt come on till way after 9:30 so i wonder if there were some kind of problems which is why Slash wasnt himself.

I can understand missing a note in a fast solo but he went to play the YGNR solo and its like he missed his string and plucked the air, very weird for such a skilled musician to do that.

we all bitch at robin finck so ill bitch at slash, he butchered a lot of his solo's last night.

I thought it was a decent concert overall.  Scott Weiland really surprised me, I didn't realize he was such a great frontman.  The sound was perfect and the setlist rocked. Although it was hard to hear some of the songs, because D kept screaming, "Shake your ass, Scott!"  :hihi:

I don't think Slash had a good day overall.  He was supposed to show up in studio with Duff at 99x for an interview and to play some of their favorite tunes.  Only Duff showed up.  They didn't say anything about Slash not being there even though they promoted it all day.
PS  The more I think about it the more I'm beginning to wonder if their isn't a little turmoil going on in the band.  I noticed the band didn't hang all over each other like they normally do.  They pretty much kept their distance from each other most of the show.  Also, Scott looked a little psyco at the finale (Slither).  My friends who aren't neccesarrily GNR/STP fans loved the show but even they noticed something was a little off.  Don't get me wrong the show still rocked but on hindsight it did seem like something was a little off.

yeah, u know now u mentioned it, i realize that also, they didnt have very much interaction at all, thats what i was tryin to say.

I hope nothing is wrong but it kinda seemed like they were playin for a check *except Scott/Dave*

interesting, i wanna hear a review of the next show and see if the pattern continues.

also the fact they came out so late.

I think they have to warm up to playing arena-style, and learn how to create that electricity playing as a band in a large venue.

about Hoobastank.  Seriously, I think it's a dig against VR if they ask the audience if there are any GNR fans - that's gotta create tension within VR.

Hoobastank also asked the audience if there were any Journey fans. You can probably guess what kind of response that got.  :hihi:

I'm sure Velvet Revolver is fully aware that people partly attend their shows because of the GN'R relation. That's why they include a couple of GN'R songs into their setlist.

Maybe Scott should ask if there's any Hoobastank fans in the house.

Turnabout is fairplay. ;D

I think Scott cared about as much about Hoobasux as the audience did.  NADA I actually saw people leave after Hoobastinks played The Reason.  LAME  Not a good choice for an opening act.  It would have been cool to see the Muse again or Kings of Leon.

Scott surprised me in Sydney too. Amazing frontman.

Slash seemed to be having a great time at the gig I went to here in March. Shame, as Slash would have been the highlight for you. Maybe he was just tired, been on the road now for a while.. has a couple of kids.. just like any Dad! Who knows.

Did everyone behind D yell "down with the mullet in front!"?  ;D
