Should he not be rehearsing?

Well The Tonight Show is filmed in LA in the afternoon, and rehearsals are usually later in the day. So he can do both easily....

Great Lead spot for Richard 8)
He is not given the opportunity to shine and be important in GN'R, so he shines with other artists. Fair enough.

He plays more Guitar parts on this track than on the entire CD album.

Hope we will have the video by tomorow  8)

so much for 4tus only being a "rhythm player"!!!

No shit maN, they guy just has it... As much as I want him on lead, it says something when a guy like that takes rhythm....

Really in this case rhythm is just a "tag".... We all know he does so much more!

That's true  :)
I don't get this "he is only the rythm player" thing. First of all, without rythm, you have no song! Rythm is what makes the song and it is more important than Lead.
However, Lead Guitar is the "Star factor" in a band, because of the solos. But when you play only Lead, and not rythm, you play less than a guy who plays just Rythm. Rythm is like 85% of a song and Lead (solo part) is like 15%. Take Jungle, it's all about Rythm guitar and Guitar riff for about 90% of the song.

Anyway to come back to Richard,  he plays almost all the rythm, but he doesn't play the solos that make you a Star like Sweet Child O'Mine or the Novembre Rain outro etc...

Personally, if you add the fact he is barely not at all on the record Chinese Democracy (seriously, can you hear him play? I don't!), it seems to me that it's an Axl's choice. It seems Axl doesn't want to give him responsabilities and give him the "Star" spot. A LOT of people want Richard to play more Lead parts, or some more important solos, but it's like his role is limited in Axl's vision.

The only good thing is that he is center stage, because he is very spectacular and entertaining to watch.  But if the audience can't hear you play because you are lost in the mix and you don't play important solos... well...

Nice LEAD spot...

Richard is the kind of guy who is at his best when he is front line, when he has a big role. That's how he shines.
I hope Axl will now let him express himself in the band now. He is too good to be "in the back".

What does it mean? Why do you feel the need to bring BH or BBF in? He is better than them :P
Richard is talented enough to be recognized on his own. He only needs to be given more.

Uhm, first don't chew my head off and start crying your heart out.

Good fuckin God.

There's some licks in there that sound kinda robotic, that's all. I was just wondering if all this time playing with industrial and virtuosos some of it stuck in him.

Relax motherfucker. Take a pill.

Ouch...4tus was good on guitar, but as much as I like country - that was very difficult to listen to.   That singer is certainly no Axl Rose...or Tim McGraw/Vince Gill/George Strait for that matter.

See I hate country music and I didn't think that was half bad.  I thought it rocked, for a country song.

GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist FORTUS Performs With COUNTRY BONES On 'Leno'; Video Available - May 7, 2009

Video footage of GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus performing with COUNTRY BONES on NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on April 28, 2009 can be viewed below.

COUNTRY BONES plays hard-driving Americana truck-driving music familiar to fans who love classic bands like LYNYRD SKYNYRD, GEORGE HAMILTON IV and DAVE DUDLEY. The songs are performed with exceptional musicianship and written by lead singer Larry "Bones" Dennison. Lyrics are fresh, irreverent and expressed with a sense of humor.

Born in Creve Coeur, Missouri, Bones gets back to his country roots after years of touring internationally and performing on albums for such diverse artists as LITA FORD, DIO and Robert Bradley's BLACKWATER SURPRISE. He joins forces with hometown childhood friend Richard Fortus, who has been playing guitar with GUNS N' ROSES since 2002. Grammy Award-winning musician J.D. Maness, who also plays with Merle Haggard, adds standout pedal steel guitar. The COUNTRY BONES album was helmed by multi-platinum producer Bruce Robb (SHELBY LYNNE, JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP, LEVON HELM).
