let's take it with a grain of salt, but it wouldn't suprise me if they were back together.

My guess is they have been writing songs this whole time going back to the songs they wrote with that hack corey taylor so Slash's parts are done.  Once Slash is done touring  with  the consprirators they will hit the studio and put out a third record by the end out the year then tour!

That is weird.  According to this interview Slash did this morning prior to his show in Minneapolis tonight -- he shot down the rumors of a Velvet Revolver reunion started by Scott. ???

Slash - May 14, 2012

The legendary guitarist joined the guys LIVE IN-STUDIO at 8:15... ok 8:25, you know, Rock Star Time and all, to answer a listener's question, talk about what his road life has been like, and to talk about his show tonight at The Brick. And he shot down the rumors started by Scott Weiland about the reunion of Velvet Revolver. ...Read More

Slash says this "reunion" with Scott is not happening.

Blabbermouth.net has the audio of him being asked about what Scott says...they even play it to him.  He says no way...

During an appearance on this morning's (Monday, May 14) edition of the "Half-Assed Morning Show" on the Minneapolis, Minnesota radio station 93X, Slash shot down Weiland's reunion comments, explaining, "I have absolutely no intention of going back to that. . . I'm on tour all year. I'll call Duff, but I serious doubt [there is any truth to Weiland's comments]. We have no intention of going backwards."

Wasn't expecting to see that headline.

I can see where Slash would be reluctant, unless Scott decided he wanted to rock again.
He's one of the best frontmen in the biz, but has trended softer and softer every album since Core.
Contraband got him closer to that early amazing hard rock sound he burst on the scene with, but Libertad, while not a bad album trended softer again.
Last STP album was cookie cutter neutered rock. Slash doesn't seem interest in that, and that's cool by me.
You can tell he took a step back and adapted to Scott's direction on Libertad. It's a cohesive album, but doesn't showcase Slash's strength, whereas Contraband did a good job of showcasing both Slash and Scott.

If Scott decided he wanted to create an aggressive rock record, I'b be psyched to hear it.
I'm more excited by what I've heard of the new album w/Myles from an artistic standpoint. I'll take any chance I can to catch Scott live though, whether it's with STP, VR or solo.

It would be good news if this is true, Scott belongs in VR if VR are to get back together....But it's good news if it's not true too. Duff writing new stuff with his buddies in Loaded is pretty damn exiting too.

I have to say I wonder why Slash prefers his current band. Because he got all control, and there's no "danger" element to it? They bragged quite much about that danger and chemistry when VR were rollin'. And no, danger is not necessarily the same thing as drugs.

The only meaning all this talk has is that there will be no Slash. I mean, Scott sounds absolutely positive about it and Slash seems positively unaware. Perhaps they will get another lead guitar player...

What about Steve Stevens? Duff and Matt are friends with him, and in my opinion it would work out great.

just like VR doesn't really work with Scott, it certainly doesn't work without Slash who is the bands biggest star.

Well, this is the only thing I could think of, because the way Slash talks he is absolutely against the reunion.

yeah I agree with you , I was thinking the same thing.  I just don't know how they are gonna pull it off.

It seems clear that Slash has been holding things up for quite some time, he was apparently the only one against the Corey Taylor thing, and now he is against Scott.  Matt, Duff, and Dave should just get a new singer and guitar player and do their own thing at this point.

Also I have no idea what he is holding VR up for,  besides this uninspired  Snakepit 2.0 thing he is doing now.  Don't get me wrong I liked the first Slash album with all the guest vocalists, he should have done that again.  Slash and Myles for a full record???  So far, not awesome.

Or Slash has been kept out of the loop or hasn't responded to a mail of some sort he might have gotten but had no time to read because he is on tour...or his manager has kept it low but knows about it and hasn't informed his client....

Slash touring with Myles throughout the middle part of summer... Weiland touring with STP in August and September... how will this work? haha

I would go see them since I love VR with Scott, but how is this going to work?

i just hope that slash dosent screw this up again. i agree with bodhi here some of his solo stuff is ok but putting myles??one singin style?? kennedy band over vr is really fucked up.

and if hes not feeling that he dosent belong to vr anymore he should quit and get a new guitar player.

You should listen to Slash's reaction to this story (http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=173967).

When they tell Slash Scott said "they're in beginning of the writing process" -- he says WHAT?!

Slash says "he's [Scott] out of his mind."

Yeah, but the type of "danger" that VR presented became a problem to the forward progress of the band.  And yes, Slash DOES want all the control so that he can prevent certain things from happening again.  Maybe there's no "danger" in whatever sense of the word that you mean, but at least it's more concrete.  They write songs they like, they record, they tour and play them for fans.  End of story.  Nothing holds it up.

I'd love to see a VR reunion with all the original members (saw them live in 2004 and they were awesome), but I'm not holding my breath.  I like Slash's solo band so I'm happy as a fan either way.

Sounds pretty clear Slash wants no part in a VR reunion.  I would've liked it, but obviously it's not up to me.  This news was shocking this morning, as it seemed like VR was a distant memory.  So it makes more sense now that Slash has shot it down.  Plans for VR are obviously on hold until Slash is done having fun with his solo efforts.  And who knows how long that will be.

If Scott is making all this up to pull some power play with the STP guys, then it's just further proof that the VR boys don't need to take him back and may be some insight on why they canned him in the first place. I like the guy's stage presence but....issues.

No, I think his reaction was genuine shock at what he was hearing. Slash is either out of the loop or Scott is talking out of his ass. Duff's tweet would seem to indicate that it's Scott.

I got so excited for this only to be let down  :( I have absolutely no interest in Slash musically after VR broke up. His solo stuff is just not my thing, I cannot stand Myles' nasal voice too long at a time.  The songs I've heard of the new record hasn't impressed me either, so the thought of a VR reunion made me really excited. Axl and Scott are brilliant front men, how Slash could go from them to Myles I don't understand. Oh well, whatever makes him happy I guess.

Than Slash Said Weiland is out of his mind and not back in the band.

More like the fans got owned by Slash.  First Corey Taylor, now Scott Weiland.  Slash has been throwing wrenches in the gears of VR for a long time now, just break the band up if you no interest in doing it anymore.

I agree with you, but they could just change the name, right? I say, get a new guitar player and move on, as there is no reason for the guys not to play together because of Slash, IF they really want to play together. Let Slash and Myles be happy with their little band...

That is why I mentioned Steve. As some of you may know, the Neurotic Outsiders original line-up consisted of Duff/Matt/Steve/Idol:

Seems like Slash really likes playing with Myles and the solo band. So he has no real interest getting VR back together and looks like the least diplomatic of all the guys regarding a singer.

Agree that the remaining guys should look into replacing Slash. I really cant picture VR calling themselves VR without Weiland fronting them.

because Slash keeps slamming the door shut on potentially great opportunities.  First Corey Taylor then Scott Weiland, Slash is not going to find a frontman better than either of those two, so what is the point?

Exactly-I think R.E.M and Oasis are 2 bands to kind of officially break up-no one holds a press confrence or anything to break up anymore-Slash could leave the band, but it sounds like he wants to do something with another singer down the road

Come on man... many of us gave Axl the benefit of the doubt while he was fielding new members of GNR.  Give these guys time.  I want to hear new stuff from them too, but if the singer isn't right, the singer isn't right.

If he's not into it, why do it? Because every one else wants him to do it? I would love to see Corey Taylor do it, but not half assed, or if it means at the end of the tour, more "it just wasn't right" interviews

Duff, Matt, Dave and Corey apparently all wanted to do it, Slash was the one who axed it.  Does it seem fair that 1 person in the whole band stops the other 3?

Just because he slammed the door on Corey and Scott doesn't mean he won't open the door for another or re-open the door with one of those 2 at some point in time.

Never say never, at least publicly - it's just goofy.

Closure is a strange beast - especially for fans.

Some need it, some don't....

Im sure thats the case with a lot of bands.  I doubt anything happens in GNR without Axl agreeing.

To be honest, Im sure Slash didn't want Corey as he'd be busy with other projects too much.  And as for Scott, why go backwards?

And as for Scott, why go backwards?

That's a simple question....Because Scott's a phenomenal songwriter, singer and front-man : ok:

If not, I'm more than happy with Loaded going all-in, instead of a VR-album followed by a tour, THEN a new break with the members spreading with the wind :)

A VR tour with Scott back in would be interesting. But as for new music, I wouldn't waste my time if I was Slash. That last VR album with Scott wasn't great. I do feel like they missed a golden opportunity with Corey. There must have been something about the guy Slash didn't like.

Same thing could be said for all those clamoring for a "classic" GNR reunion...

One of the truest statements I have read on here in a while.

Depends on what you mean by backwards. In time? Quality?
To many, they will never be accepted as Velvet Revolver w/o Scott. Regardless of how anyone feels about him, he was an integral part of the band, and will forever be the true lead singer of VR. Same things can be said about GN'R. With GN'R, keeping the name has obvious financial benefits, so I guess the positives outweigh the negatives, but does the Velvet Revolver name carry enough weight? May as well start a new project if you ask me. That's why I have no problem w/Slash doing his solo tour.

If they are trying to avoid drama, I think it's a no brainer that they should be avoiding a Scott-less Velvet Revolver.
VR are not on the level of GN'R, but they should know better than anyone that reunion talk makes headlines.

Was Corey Taylor a good opportunity financially? Probably.
Artistically? Not so sure. I think they would be in a similar situation, maybe worse off than w/Scott.
A singer with a good voice, but a bit light on creativity(see Scott, Myles) and a lesser frontman. Not exactly the slam dunk they would need to justify going forward w/o their original singer, especially when it appears he's open to returning.

Sure Corey doesn't bring the baggage Scott does, but they'd be creating their own by going forward as VR w/o him. Does alienating their fan base matter to them? Do they see it that way?

Personally I don't really care about all the drama in the end. If they could make a good record with Corey, I'm all for it.
If they are going to try and trudge on w/o Scott, they better make sure it's not a lackluster effort, because the critics will be lined up to crucify them before they hear a note.

So, was all that story just a joke? What kind of a man is Scot to go out saying what he said, then Slash and Duff come out making jokes on him and he doesn't say anything...

Where theres smoke there is fire. Reason it was shutdown so quickly is because slashs focus is on touring his new record for the rest of the summer. Would not be surprised if vr resurfaced with scott and a new album and short touby next summer. Gut feeling. Bank on it

Not a joke, but just Scott talking to Dave Kushner.  It's not going to happen.

From Slash:

?So he?s [Scott] been interested in burying the hatchet and getting back together and sort of juggling this whole STP/Velvet Revolver perfect-world thing. And I?m, like, there?s no way that?s gonna happen. I love Scott ? he?s a great guy when I?m not in a band with him. I?d just like to keep it that way. So there?s no truth to this whole thing. [It's been given] way more attention than it even deserves.?

And I guess the rest of the guys are left to wait around while Slash juggles putting out 2 solo albums in the last 2 years, touring pretty much solid during that time, and turning down any singer that shows an interest in playing with VR.

Why would he go back to that situation? He had success with the Slash album and subsequent tour so he went in and recorded the follow up immediately and is touring the world with it. VR at the time of its demise was miserable by all accounts. Based on his success the balls in his court to do anything VR related.

I would be amazed if there is another VR album and World Tour.

Maybe the odd one off charity thing, but the atmosphere on their last UK tour was aweful.

I think Slash is in quite a different space now compared to how things were back  in 2003 when VR was initially formed.  Back in in the early 2000s, Slash had just come off two Snakepit albums that sold rather modestly and had been playing in front of pathetically small audiences (at least based on the shows I went to).  I think he was more receptive to the concept of VR at the time, regardless of Scott's "issues".  Now that his career has been revived, so to speak, I think he is less inclined to put up with the shenanigans that comes with being in a band with so many egos.  He has that luxury now.  I imagine that this will continue as long as his solo career is going well.

Unfortunately, I say....Attended his show in Milano a week ago.....not much to brag about......IMO, he need a counterpoint in the same band to let the brilliance out! Scott's perfect : ok:

yeah his stuff is super generic right now, especially his stage show.  I can't even listen to that new record and he's one of my favorite guitar players of all time.  It is not bad, it is just not exciting in the least.

Have you caught them live?
I don't think there's anything generic sounding about Slash's playing on the new record. Myles lyrics? Yeah, generic as hell, and unfortunately Slash's playing can only cover so much of that up.

Still, I'm excited to catch it live again. Myles does as good a job as anyone could expect with the covers, and I think the new record will translate well.
I caught them a couple times last time around, and I don't think there is anyone out there putting on a true rock n roll show like them.
Far from generic. Straight up rock n roll w/o the unnecessary dress up package.

I wouldn't let how you feel about the new album discourage you from seeing them live.

Yeah I am catching them in Jersey next month, I will always see Slash or any of GNR members past or present live whenever they come around(except for Adler, once was enough for me).  I'm sure the show will be cool, and I quite possibly will like the record more after seeing them play some of the songs live, that has happened a few times to me in the past with other bands.  I like Myles singing with Slash live, but I dont like a whole record of him.  I would have rather Slash done another solo album like the last one and had Myles out on tour again.

I saw them live, and as I said (in a kind way) nothing to brag about. It was boring. And "Myles does as good as job as anyone"? Hehe. The bass-player handled the vocals on a couple of old Guns-tunes, and HE was better than Myles ;)

I too want to catch whatever show that I can including ex-gunners. But most of the Ex-gunners projects are higher on the list than this.....Velvet Revolver for example......
