It would be a pretty bad idea to change the title now. The title ' chinese democracy' has been hyped over the years. Just think of the many times that title was mentioned in the reviews of the European shows. It would be a waste of cheap promotion.

i love surprises, so if the name is another one, i'll like the idea.

i mean...of course chinese democracy is now a well-known name...but it can be a huge buzz to change it too.

all the media will report it anyway "chinese democracy is not the name of the new GNR, it's ***** ** *******.

(no no i have no info about it  Wink)

I hope it's called "Chinese Democracy" after all this time.  And honestly, whatever its name, I just want the album to come out.  In the meantime, I'll make do with my "Chinese Demo-cracy" album, consisting of the demos and live tracks that will likely be on the CD...

Yeah I heard the "you snooze you lose" joke.  I thought I read in the wikipedia website about the court order, but since then that bit has been removed.  So much for my source now, LOL.

Probably because they didn't care about the dip shit "stealing" the album title.? The nutwaste made it sound like if Offspring used it, Axl could not.? Doesn't matter how many jerkoffs try to rip off the name.? When a CD drops that has both Guns N' Roses and Chinese Democracy on the same cover the sales will go through the roof.? People that have no idea who GN'R were are intrigued by the "the most expensive and eagerly awaited album never released."?

It would be absolutely idiotic to even fathom changing the album title at this point.? That would be like The Beatles becoming The Clams or Ozzy Osbourne becoming John Wickerwater.? Not a good idea.

I didn't realize the lawsuit or supposed court order to get Offspring to change the title was probably bull shit.  I originally read it on the wikipedia website a few months ago. But I believe that bit of information was removed since then.  With that said I don't think Axl would change the album title at this point.  But....if the album is going to be released in 2 or 3 parts, do you think "part 2" would take on a different title?

There's just no way they'll go with another title. There would be no reason, plus the title is mythic by this point.

Since they are sticking with the Chinese theme while on tour, i guess the album will still be called Chinese Democracy. What i find really odd though, is they donot appear to perform Chinese Democracy at the shows too often. And truth be known, the track Chinese Democracy is one of the weaker songs from the new band. It is no where near as good as Better, The Blues or IRS. Behind these 3 tracks we have Madagascar, Catcher in the Rye, both bettter tracks than Chinese Democracy. Then theres Riyad and the Bedouins, even that has more potential.

yeah i agree, they will most likely call the album CD.. 'cause as you say why should they keep the chinese style of the t-shirts and stage etc. i think the song CD is pretty darn cool, after i saw the DVD from hammerstein NYC 17 june i think that song really grew on me.. there was a kind of a xylophone sound (almost jungle sound) in it wich was really cool and i hadn't heard that before.. i think the studioversion is gonna be killer ok

It's gonna be called Chinese Democracy. It would be dumb to change the name now, plus with the stage still having the Chinese theme. At the VMAs John Norris specifically asked if Chinese Democracy would be coming out soon, and Axl responded "it is this year" as we all know. If the name changed he probably would have said something about it then.

I think name Chinese Democracy is too specific. If Axl wants to have views on communism, then why focus on China? there are other communist countries out there. Maybe its more shallow than that, and Axl simply likes the new font style. It really would not surprize me if the album was called something else and the name Chinese Democracy was simply a working title. Or, it could be called Chinese Democracy simply because there is a track called Chinese Democracy on the album (which is a kinda boring reason). If that were the case, then why not simply call the album Madagascar, as thats a cool name and sounds like an amazing place.

since the release of the Dreamworks film Madagascar i do kinda associate the name Madagascar with that film  peace

First: You can't copy right a title (this is for the Offspring argument).
Second: During the HAmmerstein shows, Axl specifically said he new everyone was waiting for the new album, which he called "Chinese Democracy."

"Chinese Democracy" is already like a trademark. The name of this album is already famous before it's even released.... of course it will still be called "Chinese Democracy".

I have just a slight feeling that it may keep the title 'Chinese Democracy'... but it's just a hunch...

It's gonna be called "Nail on the Head!"

Axl is hammering a nail into something he hates.  Maybe Mao Zedong?

Sorry guys, I'm on the NyQuil! (I love that stuff)

Back in my drug days, I used to drink that shit like it was water. It helped me stop drinking. Instead of a bottle of whiskey, I always carried around a bottle of Nyquil. rofl

Duuuuuuuude!  I just thought of the perfect album cover!  A bottle of greeeeeen NyQuil!  That's so Warholian!  If I wasn't a fan, I'd buy the album just to look at the purty cover!  Shocked
