Axl went through a lot of trouble to secure the name for this release.
Please elaborate.

I'm thinking back to a couple years ago when The Offspring were going to name their album Chinese Demorcracy and Axl got a court order to stop them from using the name.

That was actually a joke. I thought you were referring to that book called Chinese Democracy from the 80's.

As far as I know, The Offspring were serious about using the title.

I think the 'You Snooze, You Lose' in the title pretty much confirmed it was a joke.

Yeah I heard the "you snooze you lose" joke.  I thought I read in the wikipedia website about the court order, but since then that bit has been removed.  So much for my source now, LOL.

I have a kerrang mag in which the Offspring singer said the lawsuit was bullshit lies. He never heard from Axl's lawyers.

Probably because they didn't care about the dip shit "stealing" the album title.? The nutwaste made it sound like if Offspring used it, Axl could not.? Doesn't matter how many jerkoffs try to rip off the name.? When a CD drops that has both Guns N' Roses and Chinese Democracy on the same cover the sales will go through the roof.? People that have no idea who GN'R were are intrigued by the "the most expensive and eagerly awaited album never released."?

It would be absolutely idiotic to even fathom changing the album title at this point.? That would be like The Beatles becoming The Clams or Ozzy Osbourne becoming John Wickerwater.? Not a good idea.

I didn't realize the lawsuit or supposed court order to get Offspring to change the title was probably bull shit.  I originally read it on the wikipedia website a few months ago. But I believe that bit of information was removed since then.  With that said I don't think Axl would change the album title at this point.  But....if the album is going to be released in 2 or 3 parts, do you think "part 2" would take on a different title?

Yes around 1998/1999 I think there was an unofficial website using the same name.

i think 2000 intentions would have been a really cool name if they had just gotten the record out before the millenium, but today i think chinese democracy fits better.. but if they wanna change it again it'd be fine with me,

There's just no way they'll go with another title. There would be no reason, plus the title is mythic by this point.

Since they are sticking with the Chinese theme while on tour, i guess the album will still be called Chinese Democracy. What i find really odd though, is they donot appear to perform Chinese Democracy at the shows too often. And truth be known, the track Chinese Democracy is one of the weaker songs from the new band. It is no where near as good as Better, The Blues or IRS. Behind these 3 tracks we have Madagascar, Catcher in the Rye, both bettter tracks than Chinese Democracy. Then theres Riyad and the Bedouins, even that has more potential.
