Title: Just got back from Sheffield
Post by: In a coma on July 18, 2006, 08:21:51 PM
Oh my god what a gig!!!!! The weather was warm but it didn't put the crowd off. I watched Gnr at donnington but the show tonight was ten times better.  And to crown it all Izzy played. I swear to god I could not believe it, i thought Izzy had done his tour on the european  tour but he seemed to be on all night. Axl was in a fine mood and his voice sounded amazing. I tried shouting for the asshole song but it got nowhere. The set list had changed and the blues returned to the set list. Sebastien Bach came on and played my michelle and axl looked as though he was having a great time. the arena was packed the crowd was friendly(bar one or two people at the front). Seriously if you are that close to the front there is no need to push and fight. I hung around at the end and tried to get a set list and pleck!!! My one disapointment was the security they were very aggresive. I saw Axl look at them at one point and I thought it was going to go off. They were aggresive and rude and threatened to kill somebody for smoking a cigarette. nOw i know they have a job to do but fuck them neanderthals the lot of them. I wouldn't let them shine my shoes. A cigarrette is not a crime and wanting a set list is not a problem you dumb fucks.
One major change was irs, chinese democracy, twat were dropped from the set list and I felt robbed because of that. Gnr were on time and in their prime!!!! Axl had a great night and Izzy shouted out to me and my mate twice. I guess you can tell I am stiill on a gig high. However, I will be contacting the arena and complaining about the security like I said its just a job but no need for such violence, Izzy, axl and Gnr RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good review thanks for posting... Hell maybe Ron is getting kinda home sick, I am sure he has never toured like this before.

The reasomn Ron wasnt too happy definitely has nothing to do with him being homesick.

Its definitely something or someone who hurt him emotionally no doubt.

Why do you say that?

Title: Re: Just got back from Sheffield

Maybe he is tired of being overshadowed by Izzy?

so Izzy played the whole show? wow

and if Ron didnt play much, who covered the tricky solos and how did they do?

Maybe he is tired of being overshadowed by Izzy?

I know next to nothing about Ron, just the stuff I've read on the forums, his letters, and seen from Download, but he doesn't strike me as being the kind who would get annoyed at that. He came from playing small gigs to playing in front of thousands of people, I can't see him being annoyed at Izzy's being there..... but then again I could be way off the mark, afterall, not many of us really know much about Bumblefoot really.

Personally, I think he seems like a great bloke, and I just hope he is ok for tomorrow when I'll get to see them for the final time (hopefully not for THAT long  :P ) at Newcastle. I'm sure he will be  :)

Maybe Axl gave Ron his pink slip. I think Axl has realized that Ron has no charisma and it's time for him to go. Even if People don't like Bucket's style they can't deny his jaw dropping guitar playing. Bucket will be back for the US tour, I feel.

Finck should take lead duties and let Izzy fill the 3rd guitarist spot. I can dream...................
I like Ron, but he is missing something. Buckethead had the charisma & stage presence, albeit strange stage presence, but nonetheless.

My God, some people just never give up.

Anyway, to add more to the speculative pile - Id say Ron was pissed at the "technical difficulties".

I read a Richard e-mail earlier where he complimented Bucket. Here is what the e-mail said.
Codenameninja wrote:
What was it like working with Buckethead, as I am sure that behind
the mask he is an ok type of guy. Looking on the positive side of
things, if it were not for Gn?R I would never have heard of Bucket

Richard wrote:
Buckethead is a great musician. ?I really miss playing with
him. ?I thought he added something very unique and cool to the band.
He's a bit strange, but a great guy. ?I hope to work with him again at
some point

I really think that they might get the bucket back.

ronnnn roonnnn ronnnn is a fuckin ghost....really no need a third guitar player especially a soulless guy like him!!!!!

Fortus didn't have to say he misses playing with Bucket and would like to work with him again. I think Richard realizes that the band is a lot better with Bucket than Bumble.

Ok so the second rhythm guitarist misses playing with Bucket. Thats your reasoning for predicting Bucket rejoining the band for the US tour?

you know...even if i dont really like bf....theres no way i want bucket back...of course hes a fuckin genius...theres enough fucked up people around..i just want things go smoothly and get the record done...that all it matters to me...

The fact that Ron is fucking lame and has no presence. He doesn't play on Chinese Democracy, was hired a week before this tour, and he won't be missed. I'm sick of everybody kissing Ron's ass because he is nice enough to answer your e-mails. You aren't reading reviews of these gigs by people saying that they were blown away by Ron' playing, are you? In 2002 people were saying how fucking awesome Bucket was though. When I saw the band in 2002 I was blown away by buckets playing. When I saw the band in 2006 I thought the guy who's playing the foot guitar and just fucked up November Rain is really fucking lame.

Someone on here has a fucking short term memory ::)

Bucketfuck FUCKED Axl over.  Did you NOT read the press release from 2004 as to why RIO canceled?

Ron may be a newcomer to GNR but at least he didn't fuck Axl over.

For those who think Bucketfuck is coming back are VERY deulsional.

There is about as much chance of Bucket coming back as there is Slash, which is none at all. Why everyone thinks Bucket is going to magically reappear is beyond me, as it doesn't appear to be about the money with with, otherwise he would be over in Europe with them.

All Bucket's presence in the band has done is show everyone how inferior Robin, Richard and even Bumble (to an extent) are as players because none of them could approach him as a musician. It doesn't help this band moving forward neither of the 2 best guitarists to ever grace the band are no longer in it.

Wow this thread has been derailed so I may as well pile on.

F bucketnutz.

The band as is rules, and if Ron were to leave to make room for izzy, finck has been doing a great job and has a great stage presence and should take lead.

And I'm and old school fan but I love robins attitude on stage : ok: : ok:

Axl fucked Axl over. He could have easily found someone and played Rio. He had over a month to find somebody for a one off gig. He hired Ron a week before this tour and has managed to play everywhere. Axl used Bucket leaving as a convenient excuse not to play Rio.

Bucket's already planning his fall tour, about 8 or 9 dates are alread lined up for September and October. He's not coming back, nor do I want him to. I can see him for $15 solo, so I want him by himself. Ron, no offense, doesn't need to be around if Izzy's in the picture.

of course, BH has been on a tour since RIO promoting his solo shit just as Axl said.

BH fucked Axl over. ?Not only business wise but friendship wise dude.

GUNS N' ROSES Cancel ROCK IN RIO Appearance, AXL ROSE Blames BUCKETHEAD - Mar. 30, 2004

GUNS N' ROSES have officially cancelled their appearance at Rock In Rio – Lisbon, citing guitarist Buckethead's recent departure from the group as the cause of the cancellation. Frontman Axl Rose's official statement on the matter is as follows:

"The band has been put in an untenable position by guitarist Buckethead and his untimely departure.

"During his tenure with the band, Buckethead has been inconsistent and erratic in both his behavior and commitment — despite being under contract — creating uncertainty and confusion and making it virtually impossible to move forward with recording, rehearsals and live plans with confidence. His transient lifestyle has made it impossible for even his closest friends to have nearly any form of communication with him whatsoever.

"Last time I talked to Bucket, he called to tell me he had bought a bootleg DVD off EBay and how proud he was to be in GUNS and how impressed he was with everyone's performance. Then, in February we got word from Brain that Bucket had called him and said he was back in GUNS!? Apparently, according to Bucket he had been 'gone' but had turned himself around and was really excited to do Rio-Lisbon and a European tour. Somewhere in the following month things changed once again. According to those who have actually spoken with Buckethead, it appears his plans were to secure a recording contract with Sanctuary Records which I encouraged my management to make available to him, quit GN'R and to use his involvement in the upcoming GUNS release to immediately promote his individual efforts...Nice guy!

"There is not a member of this camp that is not hurt, upset and ultimately disappointed by this event, and more to the point — if not this individual, certainly this individual's choices. Regardless of anyone's opinions of me and what I may or may not deserve, clearly the fans, individuals in this band, management, crew and our support group do not deserve this type of treatment
. We as a whole, definitely feel that we afforded Bucket every accommodation perhaps so much so that it may be that we or more precisely, I may have done GUNS a disservice and unintentionally allowed GUNS to be put in this position.

"On behalf of GUNS N' ROSES and myself I apologize to the fans who planned to see us at Rock In Rio - Lisbon. The festival and its tradition mean a lot to me personally and I sincerely do not enjoy being robbed by one of our own of the opportunity to be the first artist to play it for the third time. I would also like to express my gratitude to those who chose to embrace Buckethead's role in GUNS and support our new line up. We greatly appreciate Bucket's contributions and remain open to 'discussions' as there are obviously several issues to resolve. In the meantime rather than dwelling on the negative, GUNS will be moving forward and surprisingly (without giving away any details) this unfortunate set of circumstances may have given us the opportunity to take our recording that one extra step further. Regardless we hope to announce a release date within the next few months."

Oh yeah... Axl lies ::)

Yeah Buckets out playing small fucking clubs, really capitalizing off being in GnR. If he really wanted to fuck Axl over for personal recognition he would have waited for the album to come out, done a few videos, toured a while, and then quit. I can see you're a dim wit if you have to resort to slagging my name.

I paragraph 2 of that press release, Axl's basically saying "Bucket wasn't being my bitch, he wouldn't jump when I asked!" Classic. Bucket is who he is, and Axl couldn't control him, so he was pissed, but he's not mad at ?him anymore if you listen to the Trunk interview.

Besides, this thread is about the Sheffield show.

Buckethead has been releasing albums on his own private label and also Serj from SOAD's label , not sanctuary. In his defence , he's never missed a show of his own tours , never missed a date while with GNR (coff unlike someone else coff) ... As for being impossible to reach by friends ... untrue ... I have spoken and/or speak to a handfull of buckets "friends" on a near daily basis and by all accounts the man is easy to reach. If all else fails goto a studio or check his tour dates , you'll either find him onstage or in a studio most of the time.
