!!

« on: December 20, 2008, 09:08:11 AM »

and another thread, I think something similar already exists so if mods think it should be mereged with something please do.

I am listening to CD mostly:

At home and  the street on my new Sansa Fuze player and Westone UM2 earphones (great combination Smiley )... was searching for portable rig that will fit my sound preferences and fir my ears for a while. I like good bass drum and bass guitar sounds, voice should be present, cymbals (especially crash and china) should be clearly hearable and of course guitars should be kicking... All of that for me is Fuze with UM2.

In car (Toyota Yaris) on the built in cd player and suprisingly it sounds pretty good.

So what do You use to listen to CD most and how do You like it to sound?

Thanks!

At the listening party at my house we blasted the album on an Onkyo 606 with my surround setup of six Atlantic Technology speakers and a woofer. It's new, so it was the first time we really stretched its legs..  Wink

Our ears were ringing.

Other than that, I've been listening to Chinese Democracy pretty much nonstop an hour in to work and an hour home. It's surprising! It just doesn't get old. I've gotten Satyricon's latest (greatest) Age of Nero, I picked up Queen II (again), Dylan's Tell Tale package,  TV On The Radio's Dear Science and today: SexTapes.. but after one spin, I go back to Democracy.

There's just so much there. The music is very giving. It really has texture and depth.

Also, now the details kick my ass.

Shackler at 03:45 (Brain's pick me up horse-tempo drumming). The guitar fills on the title song. The whole second half of TWAT. Again, the drumming on Riad.

I'm getting a record player soon - after X-mas. Can't wait to hook it up and pop on the vinyl. And experience if there's a difference.

 peace

Yes, it does not get old. Going on almost a month now I've listened to it every day in one shape or form.

Stock car stereo pr my Yamaha receiver w/ 5 speaker surround.  Nothing extravagant, but I would like to check it out on a high end system at some point.

I have the vinyl version also, plan on getting a turntable soon and curious i I can tell a difference. I hear digital cuts off the high & low dynamics.

Home-

Carver TFM 24 amp, Carver preamp, Realistic Mach One speakers, old school Sony 5 disk.

Car-

Pioneer head unit, MTX door speakers, Sony amp for the highs, JL 1000/1 and JL 13W7 for bass. The bass on TWAT is breathtaking.

Thats 600 watts at home and 1500 in the car....someone top me!

Its spelled vinyl.  Much cooler that way.  By the way I just got my second copy and it too is scratched as shit.  Wait for the second pressing or something cuz this ain't cool.  Came out the package with fingerprint smudges and scratches just like the first one.  Oh well at least TWAT, Catcher, and Sorry are skip-free.  Sounds bad-ass on a lil Sony PS-LX300 base turntable.

Usually I listen to it in my ipod touch, but listening to music in the car is always the best! My car (a 2007 mini cooper D) actually has pretty good speakers too. (But it seems like most new cars have pretty good sound systems, which is great!)

I am a BOSE guy.  I listen to it in the car through a 6 speaker Bose system.  Then I listen to it using the I-Pod Bose docking station in my home office during the work day.  Also, have tried it through Bose home theatre in the basement.  Nothing sounds sweeter to me at this point.  CD is amazing IMHO
