I wasn't going to comment on this since I think the whole deal is pretty sad, but this is my honest opinion.

I will allways love Slash, but this is just crap.

This festival has a redicoulus bedget these days and their blowing it on this?

I don't care how many people Slash will bring and who, he aint gonnu do shit to sell tickets. People are scared that this festival is going to get cancelled and now that a festival pass costs $363 people just aint gonnu risk that kind of money. At least not based on just Slash.

If this had been Guns on the other hand, the pipe would have had a different sound. That would have made people committ to the festival.

We're talking about a festival who has had all the "best" and biggest bands and artists in the world on their bill and Slash & freinds aint that. Not even close.

Slash was in norway a few years back with the best version of VR and alot of people saw that. Guns were here twice in 06. The hunger for Slash and his work is kind of gone. At least in this grand scale.

What the fuck is Zutaut thinking? He must be sweating like a pig right now. The only thing thats for sure is that he couldn't convince Guns to come which he has expressed that he was hoping and trying for.

Wonder how many tickets the festival sold after they announced that Slash would headline day 1?

Does anyone know who played with slash in vegas a while back? That was the show slash compared this thing to. I remember hearing something about it, but don't remember who. Fergie maybe and who else?
 no

I think Perry Ferrell, Fergie, and Billy Gibbons.  I think it was like his Slash's Blues Ball then some other guests.

They need to come up with something other than 'Slash & Friends'....

November 06, 2008

'Slash & Friends' to play only European gig of 2009 in Norway

Slash will play his only European solo concert of 2009 at Norway?s The Quart festival, set to take place June 30 - July 4 in Kristiansand, Norway. Performing as Slash & Friends, he will headline the event on the festival's opening day, joined by a number of as-yet-undisclosed guests playing mostly covers.

?I?ve done a few gigs where I?ve very casually got a few friends together and played a few gigs,? Slash told Classic Rock after the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour on Monday. "I do it few and far between. But we got this offer to do it at a festival in Norway and I thought, ?Yeah, that?d be sorta cool?. I?m not sure who?ll be on the bill yet, but I?ve got some ideas, so now I?ve just got to pull it all together and just play.?

Who has he played with in the past? ?Tom Morello, Jerry Cantrell, Fergie [of Black Eyed Peas], Jason Bonham, Chris Chaney [Jane?s Addiction], Billy Gibbons ? everyone doing one or two songs, whatever.?

Like a one-man Camp Freddy? ?Well, Tommy Clufetos [Alice Cooper] is an amazing drummer ? so the backline sorta remains the same, with him and Jason trading drums.?

And what have Slash & Friends played in the past? ?Anything from Whole Lotta Love to Use Me to Fleetwood Mac?s Oh Well or The Thrill Is Gone ? depends on who?s singing. I did Sweet Child O?Mine with Fergie ? she?s got a great fucking rock?n?roll voice that girl. It?s a casual thing but at the same time now that you?re talking about it it?ll sound more serious than it is??

The 2009 bill of The Quart is being put together by A&R legend (and the guy who signed Guns N? Roses and Motley Crue), Tom Zutaut who is promising some of the biggest and most exciting names in rock and metal.

Eric Dover.

Yeah, I can see the Adam Sandler thing in Mr. Brownstone.

I liked Rod Jackson, though.  I thought he kicked ass, too.

How did we get on this topic, anyway?  Oh yeah, the funny made by Adz.   hihi    Come on, Jackson wasn't that bad.

I was going to start a thread about Slash's hat, but thought better of it.

Anyway... I wish he would take it off now and again, I cant remember the last time he was pictured without it.

I have a theory that when you see him without it he has fell off the wagon, and its like a comfort blanket to him when he is clean.

He was hardly ever pictured off stage with it on in the old days, now the fucking thing is giving interviews all on its own!

I wonder if its because he had a big bald spot or something...

talking 'bout camp freddy like it's a bad thing when rock stars come together and enjoying themselves while the fans enjoys it too

That's great, but is it enough to sell tickets?

/jarmo

since he'll release a solo album with a bunch of interesting guests by then, I'll say yeah.
from reading the norwegian newspapers today, I think they're underestimating what's actually going to happen there.

Smoking Guns, he stated that he will bring several guests.

He says in the Oslo TV interview that this is not for his solo project, the show will be exclusively for the Quart Festival.

He says that the solo project is similar in the sense that he will have a different singer on each song, "but that's a whole different thing."

Sources close to Slash say he wants these 4 people for his Quart festival appearance:
Robbie Williams, Fergie, Jack White and Fred Durst.

I can believe te first 3 to a certain degree. but Fred Dust? come on!

edit: bringing Williams is a good idea, he's enormous in Norway. he'll make lots of popfans come, Slash will make rockfans come.
Fred Dust on the other hand, will make some people stay home...

Fred Durst and Slash should make a great team.
They're both wash-ups at quite an early age.
