well, i just have to congratulate you on an excellent post.
understand that guns n' roses has been my favourite band since i started listening to music, and axl has always been my favourite member. things are still like this, 13 years after, and i still believe in axl, so i was simply saying that i think alot of the loudmouths who are quick to judge him without even knowing what he's up to, will indeed eat their words when "chinese democracy" eventually sees the light of day. probably alot sooner, and hopefully at lisbon.
peace
by the way, i know i still didn't answer your question, for obvious reasons.

such bullshit. you'll eat your words when guns n' roses are on stage again
You just made me smirk, there, young fellow. You know why? Because I have heard that "you're going to eat your words" statement made about 1000 times over the past three years.
I, although not young, said "Axl will show you".......
I concede.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
From the beginning, I said that Axl was going to have an extremely difficult time holding it together on his own. Given his past dispositions, I didn't feel this was a ludicrous, uneducated assumption on my part.
Sad to say......it appears you were right.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
But I can remember the kids on MTV.com (and later this site) telling me I was going to eat my words when Axl hit the stage for the 2001 European tour he had planned. But then it got postponed. But still, they told me to wait and see. The European tour got rescheduled for December 2001. They told me to just wait until Axl was onstage kicking ass at that tour.
Yep.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
Then after that got cancelled, Axl did a show in Vegas, telling everybody that he didn't even know he had a European tour to begin with.
Yeah, not so sure I believe that anymore.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
But still, the young-uns defied me to doubt Axl, and told me to wait and see, and that I would eat my words.
And even us not-so-young-uns.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
After 8 months of nothingness from Axl, the overseas mini-tour came. My detractors were ecstatic. They said "SEE! We told you Dizzy! Now you're really going to eat your words!"
Then came the VMAs, and despite Axl's remarkably poor showing that night, it nonetheless served as fuel to the fire of the Axl faithful and their ammo against me.
Yep......yep......and more yep-yep.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
Then came the "Chinese Democracy World Tour". Axl's apostles were again ecstatic.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah, GN'R was back reclaiming the throne of the rock 'n' roll world whcih had been takin over by Jay-Z....and, and.....Puffy......and, and.......(place any other
angry kill the cops they are the enemy rap-extraordinaire
here).
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
But then came the infamous Philly incident. Axl's second no-show in a tour already plagued by Axl's tardiness, poor attendance, and terrible reviews, not to mention Axl's venomous tirades against the former bandmates who helped make GNR what it is.
I was there. This was supposed to be the greatest concert experience of my life. I would rather have sat through a "New Kids On The Block" reunion concert.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
And so the tour was cancelled by the frustrated promoters. Since then (a period of nearly 16 months), not one word from Axl. Silence.
Yep, anybody who had defended Axl and his antics deserved an explanation. The world didn't really care. We here did. A little message on this board or any other Gn'R board wouldv'e been cool. Nah, nothing.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
Oh, and did I mention that, despite his
repeated
promises to deliver, Axl has yet to release an album?
Yeah, well...........
soon
isn't the word...........right loyal fans?? The best way to have battled the Greatest Hits album would have been to drop CD right on top of it. No, let the courts do your talkin. Still lost.
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
Wow. I really ended up eating my words like all my critics boded that I would, didn't I?
Yes you sure did. You must be stuffed...so, so many words (sarcasm).
Quote from: Dizzy on March 29, 2004, 05:59:08 PM
My question to you is, how many more times will Axl prove me right before he finally proves me wrong?
At this point I no longer care. When/if the album is ever released I will surely buy it as I'm sure Dizzy will. But the fire I carried for Axl and his talent has fizzled.
Slash, Duff & Matt have proven to be more fan friendly with their insights and updates to the progress of their music which has A RELEASE DATE!!!!!!
Axl, it is us who ultimately pays your bills. At this point you'll only get my $15.99 or so for the cd. That will be it. Good luck with your tour. Try being a big boy and showing up on time cuz the "bad boy" rocker days seem to have went bye-bye with GN'R of the early 90's.
If I sound bitter.....I'm not......just have moved on to other artists who seem to appreciate the give and take of music and their fans.
I'm now looking forward to future releases from Silvertide, Beautiful Creatures,............and of course, Velvet Revolver..........
JUNE 8th, 2004. What Round is it now ??.....Oh, wait there are no rounds if there is no opponent.

K-Rock mentioned the fire we carry for Axl. I think that's a good way of describing how we want to feel for this band.
Maybe when I'm 30, I'll be "chilled" like Mysteron is, and "not caring if guitarists are replaced"... I didnt realize that 30 was such a dramatic change in how you feel towards your favorite band. It's disheartening.

Aunt Ger, I didn't mean to imply that the only reason you enjoy GNR is because of your relation to Dizzy. What I mean is that you have a personal connection to the band that gives you an entirely different perspective on the band than the rest of us. You now view them through the eyes of a supportive aunt rather than through the eyes of a fan who has no connection.
You're right shit happens and cancelled concerts is a part of life. However, GNR never handle these situations in a professional manner. It's one thing if they would cancel for a legitimate reason and provide fans with a proper explanation, but it's an entirely different story with GNR because of the lack of courtesy towards their fans. That's pretty much the bottom line when it's all said and done with this band. They lack courtesy and respect for those who continue to support their career through thick and thin.
I have never seen a band that has made it so difficult for anyone to be a fan of theirs. Especially considering this band has been virtually inactive for a decade and need all the fan support they can get. They are in the business of music and they go about their business poorly. I can't believe management lets them get away with their decision to be silent because it's career suicide. It's a wonder so many remain supportive after all we have been put through, but I can't imagine people continuing on for long. A line has to be drawn somewhere and for their sake I really hope they don't cross it.
I also don't understand why those of us who are critical towards the band are pegged as the losers who spend their lives waiting for this cd. The way I see it, we are the most rational ones out there. We're not the ones who blindly supports a band who goes out of their way to alienate us. We're not the ones spending our days waiting for any bit of news from the band. We're not the ones who fall for every rumor that is thrown our way. We're not the ones who turn everything into a GNR conspiracy (ie the countless GNR movie soundtrack threads). We're the ones who excercise some common sense and use the past to make an educated guess about the future.
Personally, I could care less about CD. I may download it out of curiosity when it's released but other than that it doesn't matter to me in the least. What matters to me is the fact that my favorite band has turned into a joke because of the utter lack of respect and professionalism from them. Other than that, I'm having a great time enjoying my favorite bands who actually release music and appreciate their fans.

Gnr was and always will be about the music. When the material gets released then you will all be eating your words. Till then, well you are right, the whol eprocess has been a joke.
The thing with that is, a lot of that has to do with the media and the fans. We can go on for days about the gnr communication but thats not the point. If gnrs plan was to keep shut till they released the material its not thier fault peopel create rumors and then that gets analzyzed and printed.
It seems to me people enjoy jumping on Axl every chance they get. And thats fine. He puts himself in a lot of bad situations. It comes with the territory. But again, when its about the music I know he will deliver. If you wanna call me a loyalist for that, so be it. I will never doubt a rock legend.
Aunt Ger, I respect your opinions and enjoy your posts. I unfortunately do not agree with you though. I think you are no better than the people who create bullshit rumors that turn out to be lies. Its great you Dizzy's aunt but by you relaying vague information and information that never pans out you make things work. Again im not trying to insult you, im just saying that by relaying info gets peoples hopes up. But a lot of peopel around here cant handle news. Look how the past "x" amount of years on the internet has turned out. Garbage
My point is that by relaying vague info isnt helping. I personally rather just enjoy your postings on gnr rather than cd updates or stuff dizzy said. Unless you can get solid concrete info from Dizzy then its not worth it. And i dont mean release dates. Im just talking about lil cd tidbits. {songs, lyrics, members, stories etc}.

Can we please stop with the bow down to me because im a gnr fan bullshit.
The band has been inactive for 10 years for many reasons. Band breakup, lawsuits, finding a new direction, new band, contracts, tours etc....
The important thing is that there is atleast 2 solid albums worth of material. It is up to you and has been up to you to patiently wait. No1 tells you to check these boards everyday. No1 tells you to believe the rumors. Dont you people get it? Since the beginning of gnr message boards therehave been rumors every dam day. Most created by their own fans. It is not the bands fault that you indulge yourselves in these rumors on a daily basis. The band should not have said a word in terms of possible release dates, i agree. But things have obiviously gone wrong along the way.
Once again, when its all said and done it will be about the music. If cd is a masterpiece then all of the waiting will not be an issue. If its a masterpiece then all the talk about gnr being a joke will go away. Gnr is a joke. The way they handle things is a joke. But who the fuk cares. Its rock n roll. gnr was and always will be a circus. WHat seperates them from everyone else is the fukin music. The old era mastered that now lets see if the new lineup will do the same.
Relax. When it comes out it will be out and we will have the album number 1 on the charts for the longest time.

What's cooler then being cool?
And just to add something to this discussion, I think part of the problem, is that we have alway's been told that Chinese Democracy will come out, so it's hard not for us to turn every negative into a postive, as the belief is, and will always be, with every screw-up, set-back, and mistake, we are one step closer to CD. Perhaps we where alot further away then anyone realized..

Starting to think that maybe we will never see the album after all. All these delays, someone will have to make friends with Axl, chill at his house and fucking find those master copies.

I never get tired of reading people's posts and hearing them say that GNR has "at least 2 solid albums worth of material" or "they are saving their big guns" or "they have 3 albums recorded". These lines make me piss my pants laughing.
How can anyone be so naive as to think Axl has 2 or 3 albums worth of material. Right now he can't find 12 songs to release (because if he could he would have by now). I love that people hold on to Axl's previous statements like they are fact. He has lied/been wrong about everything he has stated before about CD. Why do you people still believe these things?? And why do you state them as fact??
We know of exactly zero songs being complete. Do the sane people here a favor and don't state these things as fact anymore.

Without a doubt
I can just see that in ten years people will be saying that he has around 13 albums that simply require those famous finishing touches

You've all created your own little world on this board. Some of you have spent far too much time here clearly.
The actual things Axl has done wrong have far less effect on you all than all the rumours and false hopes you've created/wound yourselves up over.
For fucks sake will people give up their constant moaning? The point is Aunt Ger posts something, and the whole thread changes into people moaning about Axl's done this, Axl's done that. That is sad in itself.
For every bullshit comment about how Axl has three albums done, etc, there's a bullshit comment about how he's done nothing.
For example, here's tyrod going on about how it makes him laugh that people say they're saving the big guns, and there are three albums, blah, blah, and yet what he is saying is just as laughable because he knows jackshit just like the people he's talking about.
Right now, it's easy for anyone to say this won't happen, that won't happen. It's a pretty safe bet you'll be right. To say afterwards, ha, I was right is just crap. A lot of people seem to be more concerned about being right, than what is actually happening to GNR.
There are optimists and pesimists who have plenty to say on the subject, there are people who really like GNR and are positive, and those who for seem reason want to criticize everything they do.
In the end, none of you know anything about what's going on. Just as mindless optimism is ridiculous, so is all of the moaning and pointless pessimism.

Girlgunner and younggunner....you do have some good points there, but the fact of the matter remains. I am, and always will be a GunsN'Roses supporter. I love their music and will continue to wait until CD comes out, if, in fact it does. I'm an optimist, plain and simple.

They havnt release anything yet because they arent going to release material when they arent ready to go in a full fledged tour and ouple of year albums/tours jaunt. It has been said countless times that this band has albums worth of material. Whether you want to believe that or not is your problem. The whole process in which they are going about it is a joke but there othing that can be done. SHit has happened along the way. A lot of shit.
Aunt ger well said, im no pessimistic trust me,...im the biggest optimist here. and its for a reason
