I'd love to hear some different music... Something that hasn't been played during these last 15 years... Like Coma, Bad Apples, Locomotion, Dead Horse, Double Talkin Jive... even some new covers like Thunderstruck and Back in Black (hehe). Hope to god no more Godfather guitar solos from Slash. I'd love to hear a new original song or two!!

If they were choosing songs from solo albums, I'd love to hear Slash's Snakepit's Mean Bone and/or Back to the Moment.

As far as Guns songs, I'm fine with whatever they do. But I would really love to hear Coma, Yesterdays, So Fine, Locomotive, Anything Goes. Estranged is another one but I already have high hopes for that one.  :hihi: :hihi: :peace:

I can't wait for Friday to follow again what's going on, but at the same time, I seriously cannot wait for July 1st!!!

Well, I would like yo be in the building when they play DTJ :) And I'm not too keen on yet another Godfather Solo... I like Slash and all, but I would like to hear something different.

I could honestly do without LALD and Knockin... Never been a fan of the covers. I've always wanted to hear Locomotive live. That's the one song that I've never heard live that I want to.

DTJ, that's the most important thing when it comes down to a GN'R show :)

But these are on my wishlist also, not in a particular order:
- Dead Horse
- Locomotive
- Pretty Tied Up
- Better
- TWAT
- Madagascar
- Dust N' Bones
- 14 Years
- So Fine
- Cornshucker

Better we already had and I hope it'll stay in the set.

We had a big thread for this already...but now that we know for sure that Slash is all in for playing CD songs...

I am pumped to hear his take on Better and possibly There Was Time or Prostitute ... the song Chinese Democracy is my least favorite GNR song ever .. so i don't care about that one lol

Only other preference I have is... the less cover songs the better... As many GNR songs as they can possibly play for me!

Honestly... this is something I've thought about a lot... I mean we'll get realistically 20 songs at least... and no more than 24

We will more than likely get at least 1-2 cover songs, which I'm not a huge fan of... but that is part of who Gn'R are, and they are great at covering stuff.

AT LEAST 6 songs from Appetite will be played. We all know that.

Patience will get played for sure.

We have around 9-10 songs already at least, maybe up to 12.

Then you have UYI I and II, maybe 1-2 songs from TSI, and CD.

I would just love to get 30 songs lol... not going to happen. No one could expect that.

I do hope we get 8 songs from UYI.

Just do 6 AFD, 2 Lies, 8 UYI, 2 TSI, 2 covers and 2-4 CD songs. Or maybe do 1-2 new songs.

That would be great.

Let's wait a couple more days to see the Vegas set list.If anything it should be twice as long as the Troubadour.
I'd like to hear a few songs more of Chinese Democracy,Nice Boys and Locomotive.

A couple Illusion deep cuts couldn't hurt.  But really, I'll be happy to hear them play anything together.

As for songs which haven't been played since the Illusions tour, Coma has probably taken over the top of people's wish-lists ever since Estranged returned to the set.

I think Nice Boys is a possibility because both the CD Era Lineup and Slash have played it live (with Angry Anderson).

Slash will always do the Godfather, he has played it in and out of GnR, but i would like to see him mix in Anastasia as part of his solo... then like the Don't Cry sing along, maybe Axl would join in.

Right Next Door to Hell and Prefect Crime and a few that I could love to hear.

I LOVE Anastasia. that would be awesome.

Like Sofine said ... but I'm too happy with all of this to get picky about the setlist.

I think you are pushing it to go over 2.5 hours and even that includes 3-4 non Axl Solo/Songs.
I have been to 9 Guns concerts and it ranged from 18 songs (plus solos) to 28 songs (plus solos).

That's actually not even true.  I never care what Pearl Jam plays.

They switch it up every single night and always give you like 25 songs.

But when I've seen The Stones or Aerosmith, I was bummed if I didn't hear certain things.

Lets not make this complicated. ALL BANDS play a core 8-10 songs. They just do. I mean these songs are LOCKS for EVERY SHOW.

I'm talking about true locks.. like they'll play it FOR SURE. (in no order)

Jungle
Paradise
Sweet Child
Nightrain
It's So Easy
Rocket Queen

I mean those 6 songs are locks right? Or am I crazy?

Then on lies you got

Patience, that is the only lock from that album.

UYI

Don't Cry
November Rain

UYI II

You Could Be Mine
Knockin
-----------------

Pretty sure these 11 songs will be locked into every single set for sure. I don't see how any of them don't get played.

Other ones that are almost locks would be Civil War, LALD, Estranged, My Michelle, Chinese Demoracy, Better, maybe Down on the Farm or something?

My point is that people do care what they play really. I'm happy to go, but if they don't play Civil War.. I'll be slightly bummed I guess. I would love a rotation of like 4-6 songs every night. Shake it up ya know?

Title: Re: Your setlist wishes for the next concerts
Post by: Thorned Rose on April 04, 2016, 05:59:19 PM
To add to this, if I could pick my setlist... in no order these are the songs I would like to have played. (24 songs, which is possible, and realistic)

Jungle
Its So easy
NIghtrain
Paradise
Sweet Child
Rocket

Patience
Used to Love Her

Right next door
dust n bones
don't cry
perfect crime
you aint the first
bad obsession
double talkin
november rain
don't damn me
coma

civil war
14 years
knockin
pretty tied up
locomotive
you could be mine

That is 24 songs, and is what I'd like to hear if I could pick. Yeah it was tough

Tough with a big stadium stage show though.  Very few bands at that level truly mix it up.

Tour to tour, yes.  But within that tour, not really.

I really hope they ditch "The Seeker".  These guys wrote tons of great songs, and have a number of covers that they essentially made their own, no need for a Who cover.  Look, anything they truly want to play, I'm want to hear.  If that's the song they actually want to play, fine, ok.  But it seems like its just a holdover from the 2014 tour with the other lineup.  The version they played the other night sounded amazing - but it's zero-sum, if they play that, we aren't hearing Pretty Tied Up, Yesterdays, RNDTH, the other tracks from Appetite, Patience, etc.  Unless they're dying to play the Who, I wish they'd sub it out for something else.

Coma and Breakdown are the white whales. Hands down.

Garden Of Eden, Perfect Crime, Get In The Ring, and Don't Damn Me are up there too. But I highly doubt they'll ever be played.

and the ones that have no chance in hell: One In A Million, Reckless Life, Shadow Of Your Love, Heartbreak Hotel

And a few other long shots: Prostitute, Oh My God, TWAT,

Either way I'll be happy with whatever, I'm just happy these guys are back

I preferred the striped down (1991 and 1993) versions of the Illusion songs. It would be interesting to hear the Chinese Democracy songs like that.
I hope the production in the upcoming stadium shows is simple and not a 12-member circus.

No way they'll play Locomotive. That's a very demanding song for Axl to sing.

I'll be happy with any setlist, as long as it includes Estranged and Civil War. Hearing Slash play Estranged again will be a delight.

When they did it with Ashba and Bumblefoot it was ok, but they played it too mechanically, if you know what I mean.

And PLEASE... No drum solos

Actually, I'd love no solos at all, but I think I'm dreaming here

Just don't that extended death march from the UYI shows.  The worst part of every bootleg.

Like 'The Godfather', keep that.  But not the rest.

In the past 15 years they've done virtually no drum solo spots in the shows. I don't think we'll see a return now.

There will probably be more than one guitar solo spot though.

Hahahaha. You and me both.  And yes, that's a dream.

Just don't that extended death march from the UYI shows.  The worst part of every bootleg.

Like 'The Godfather', keep that.  But not the rest.

Exactly. I like Godfather too, because it's an actual song, although I'd love to hear Slash try something new.

Drum solos are the most pointless thing ever for me. It's just nonsense.

But I think we'll get both

In the past 15 years they've done virtually no drum solo spots in the shows. I don't think we'll see a return now.

There will probably be more than one guitar solo spot though.

When I saw them I'm pretty sure they did a drum solo. Could be wrong, though. Or maybe I was too drunk!  :hihi:

I think Frank did one in the first shows in the Far East in 2009.  I definitely have some bootleg with one on there.

Its boring and redundant, like all drum solos.

If Frank does something funky for a minute or so, then transitions into You Could Be Mine, that would be cool.

A near ten minute thing though, that's too much...  :hihi:

I kinda feel like it sucks that Slash has to wear it with the CD songs. I know they're a part of the GN'R canon, but it feels a bit Treaty of Versailles to me. Maybe he really digs 'em. Who am I to say.

Also, in all fairness there are some really good songs on Chinese. Far from all fits with Slash's thing, but a few of them do.

That's an angle I hadn't considered. I can see that. I wonder if they'll keep some of the alterations to the old songs that the new guys put in. Like the intro to Nighttrain and the pauses in Mr. Brownstone.

If Axl brought Slash and Duff back, but they didn't play anything recorded after 1993, the implication there is obvious.

Everything post their departure was a misadventure, and now we are just going to pretend it never happened.

I don't think Axl wants that perception out there, because it would be out there.  And I just don't think Slash or Duff would object to the point that they refuse.

I think Slash and Duff very much want to tour under the biggest banner of their career again.  And 1 or 2 CD songs in the set is just the cost of doing business.

It could be a part of it.

But I think Slash always respected Axl as an artist even after leaving in 1996. I think Slash would have pushed hard to exclude any CD material if it was really bad.

Therefore I think the songs from CD they choose to play are songs that Slash genuinely likes.

But I guess there could be more of an emotional aspect for Slash to playing them or not. That it's more about the songs having been created when he was out of the band.

I don't think that Slash is just playing this songs as part of of a "business deal". He talked very positive about this album in the past and he can play whatever he wants anyway.

Sadly, none of the clips we have from the Troubador are of 'Chinese' or 'Better'.

But I called up the RIRIII version of CD last night.  If it sounds like that, I think it works.  Still think 'Better' is an odd choice for Slash.

Ultimately, I see some other sort of retrospective coming out eventually.  Probably a double CD.  And I think that anything you hear on this tour is something that would appear on such a collection.

In other words, I wouldn't go holding my breath for 'Sorry' or 'Scraped'.

Bad Obsession
Interesting, I'd like that. But who would play the harmonica?

Nobody played it when I saw them in 1991....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqrO3sjCf4I&t=11m55s
That sounded kinda weird to me. But yeah, it would work without it. Or maybe Melissa could play it? Or Dizzy? I dunno.

When they tour Europe, the lead singer from the warm up band, Michael Monroe   : ok:
That was awesome, even more because he was the one who recorded it on the song in the album, right?

Still think 'Better' is an odd choice for Slash.
And why is that? The song is guitar driven, the only oddly thing to Slash would be the Bucket wacky solos, but those were taken care by Richard.

Hahahaha. You and me both.  And yes, that's a dream.

Just don't that extended death march from the UYI shows.  The worst part of every bootleg.

Like 'The Godfather', keep that.  But not the rest.

Interesting point on the solo's... if we are getting a 3 hour show... then i think its reasonable for 2 solos to give Axl a breather...

One Cover i always enjoyed as a laugh was down on the farm... it would be hilarious to see them whip that out (the chances of this are 0%) but i always got a kick out of hearing it.  :D

Yeah, solos from Slash and Richard seems very probable. A song with Duff on vocals would also give Axl a little break.

I think Down On The Farm isn't as improbable as you think, given they've played it occasionally in the past 15 years. I like that song as well.

I have no issue with CD being played, its IMO their best song off that album.. but i pretty much draw the line with it personally.

I do however think we'll see 3 songs from that album.... peace offering? possible... but some fans genuinely like CD songs.. and they are GNR songs whether some of us think that or not...

id like to see them pull a few more songs out of the draw... and i think they will.. i mean.. who expected to see DTJ in a 16 or 17 song setlist last weekend?  :D

The more CD songs they play, the lamer it feels for me.

2-4 songs. I mean to do want to hear Slash and Duff hit some of these for sure.

I really really want to hear "This I Love" badly.

I'll take CD, Better though and whatever else. There Was A Time would be horrible to hear, yeah its a great guitar song, but it is a tough vocal, and to be honest, its kinda bloated, and dense I think.

Anything more than 4 CD songs and I'd feel somewhat cheated from UYI. I mean they are going ot play so many songs.

In the end, I'd be happy with whatever I guess. Too excited to get upset over a setlist really.

I personally thought that Chinese songs would be included.... but i always thought it would be no more than 3-4. And i think thats reasonable.

The majority of casual fans want the hits... people like us... we of course like the hits, but beyond that... all bets are off.. the hardcores like different things. For example.. i am pinging to hear some stuff from UYI that we havent seen since that 2 year tour.

I think its going to come down to, how long is the set list realictically going to be? If its 23-24 songs.. then i think 3 or 4 CD songs is a fair percentage that keeps everyone happy. Just my opinion though.

I never thought they'd get back together, that is the origin. Never really thought about him playing CD stuff.

So that point is pretty moot.

I mean we've all had time to think about Axl and Slash together once again right? Been a few years...

I never thought it would happen like this. I figured they'd be in their early 60s or something, but it was always so unrealistic and unlikely in my mind that I never really though about Slash playing CD stuff.

He left the band in 1996, because he didn't want to play that type of sound really. That style of rock. It's totally cool that he played a couple of them.

So it is far from being "wrong" and its more about the circumstance. I don't think many people really imagine him playing them or not until the news broke of them getting back together. I thought about it then, and thought it was likely since they have all compromised I'm sure on a few things.

Slash playing CD stuff is great, it is interesting, but I'm not interested in hearing more than 4 songs.

Gn'R have 64 original released songs I think it is. Maybe it is 65. (Before CD)

So naturally you'd want them to pull 14-16 of them from that list, and no more than 4 from a list of 14. I think that is likely and logically correct in a way.

I would trade in ANY old Gn'R song for "This I Love" or "Madagascar" though.

I would be fairly unimpressed with 5 or 6 songs from CD. I think it's fair to assume that 80% (maybe higher) of the fans arent going there for that. And as someone else said (DX) do you really see them pulling out a cd song at the expense of one of the AFD or more probably UYI better known songs? I personally dont. If something left of field is going to played.. the majority would hope its from UYI or TSI rather then a left of field CD song.

out of interest... whats with the obsession with TIL & madigascar? Just curious? Not having a shot at you.. but i'm curious as to how highly u rate those 2 songs (even above anything else)

Totally agree... all of this is just opinions mate.

And as i said, the set list from last weekend gives everybody hope that at some stage most of the songs might get a go. I mean.. how many people out of a 16 song set-list would have predicted that DTJ would have made the cut for last weekend? Not many.....

I honestly see an interchangeable set-list from weekend to weekend by 4 or 5 songs.
Its bloody brilliant that they did it. And it shows (me at least).. that Axl and Slash are both prepared to pull these songs back out. How refreshing is that.

Many of those people might be completely happy to see them play the songs off Greatest Hits.
Anything added to that is like icing on the cake...

/jarmo

Wasn't Sympathy For The Devil included on GH?

No icing required.  ;)

I'm a huge Bruce Springsteen fan. He has a catalog of 500+ songs, and each tour they play like 200+ different songs (including requests from the audience).

I wish Axl and the band did that. They are undoubtedly talented and capable of pulling that off.

But do they really want to push themselves towards that? The comfort zone is really a difficult thing to get out of.

I thought no all degrees of fans are expecting/hoping for the big hits...Perhaps throw in We Will Rock You...Everyone knows that song, and some might be unaware of GNR playing at the Freddie Mercury concert and during some UYI shows...

I would love to hear Madagascar, Prostitute, Right Next Door to Hell, Mama Kin, Heartbreak Hotel, and some other impossible fantasies, but I don't think they have my personal playlist in mind.  Besides, it's my favorite band we're talking about, I love all their songs, it's not like if I don't get to hear 'my' songs, I'll have to sit through Love in an Elevator or something.

I never thought they'd get back together, that is the origin. Never really thought about him playing CD stuff.

So that point is pretty moot.

Oh, of course. Between the Caochella announcement and last week's show, you didn't have enough time to think about that... Assuming you weren't convinced that the regrouping was gonna happen before the official announcement.  ;)

Oh wait, you did have time to think about it, and you did.

Edited to add: Keep pretending that the rest of us are idiots. It worked last time didn't it? And now you're baiting people again. Yes, we had to moderate some of your posts. Just a FYI....

YOu didn't quote my entire post, so in the context you just used, yes it makes me look stupid. Great job.

I've been very polite and very nice here recently. I'm not baiting people at all.

I stated that before the regrouping news broke... I never thought about SLash playing anything CD. That was in my post, but you choose to quote a very small part of it. It's whatever man.

My posts are very accurate and very logical. I'm not baiting anyone. I just want to have a good time. I don't need babysat, and I don't appreciate you taking what I'm saying away from it's original context and trying to make me sound stupid or ignorant. I don't care. I respect you and your website, and I love it here, but you seriously need to relax a little man.

I'm still appreciative of my ban being lifted too. You need to separate the previous me from the new me. I'm not really interested in arguing or fighting over stuff like I used to be.

I'm not perfect but what you've just stated about me is mixing old me with new me. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

And my Tracii Guns comments were right on the button, whether you removed them or not.

Havea  great day Jarmo.

When I said "people" I was talking about in general people, which included myself. It was a generalization of thinking there. I'm not trying to stir anything up or bait anyone. I felt like I and us were having a nice fun discussion.

I'm truly sorry if I've upset anyone.

Because the rest of the post was just not about the actual issue. I pointed out that you had thought about it. You even admitted. So you say no and yes in the same post.

this is what I would pick if they let me make the setlist for Friday night:

WTTJ
Easy
Brownstone
LALD
Better
Pretty Tied Up
Estranged
Slither
UTLH
YCBM
Godfather
SCOM
November
Rocket
Think About You
Double Talkin
Whole Lotta Rosie
Patience
KOHD
Nightrain

Encores
My Michelle
Don't Cry
Paradise City

If they are playing CD songs(which of course they did in LA) I would like to see em also mix in VR songs like Slither, Fall To Pieces, or Suckertrain Blues. The only CD songs I am interested in this formation playing is Better, IRS, and maybe Street of Dreams. And only 1 per night of each.

I admit I was a little surprised to hear two CD songs the other night...

but I am certainly not upset about it. Really looking forward to hearing Slash on them. I would imagine he gives them a more bluesy feel.

It's also a good sign for their relationship right now... I think.

Now.. just hoping it goes the other way and maybe we see them do a Slash song. Anastasia would be killer. (asking for a VR song might be too much)

Maybe it didn't come across clear, so I'll sum it up so it doesn't get diluted again.

Before they announced the regrouping (Pre Jan.) I never really thought about him playing any CD stuff, cause I honestly thought they would never get back together/it would be a longer time.

Since then, since they announced the impossible it seemed, I started to think about it a little before the Troub show yeah. I shouldn't really have to explain this, it was fairly obvious what I meant.

It doesn't really matter, and I'm cool with Slash playing CD songs, I just hadn't given it any thought since i never really thought they'd be together again, since they announced it... again... yes I started thinking of it some, but it was wed-friday of the troub show.

It isn't a big deal. But anything more than 6 CD songs would kinda piss me off honestly.

I think these will be staples at the shows:

Welcome To The Jungle
It's So Easy
Nightrain
Mr. Brownstone
Paradise City
Sweet Child O' Mine
Rocket Queen

Patience

Live And Let Die
Don't Cry
November Rain
Civil War
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Estranged
You Could Be Mine

Not sure about Chinese, I think they might rotate between different songs. Chinese Democracy might be a staple.

As for additional songs from all albums that they'll put in rotation, I think anything can happen now. They brought out Double Talkin' Jive which was a complete surprise.

I wonder about 'Don't Cry' though.  Even on the UYI tour, rarely played in that first leg, and then was hit or miss in '93.

Ok

8 songs from AfD
1 song from Lies
10 songs from UYI
4/5 songs from CD
4 covers (KOHD, LALD, The Seeker, New Rose)

27/28 songs in total + a few jams and solo spots. That's pretty realistic for me.

It's a combination of them playing it at pretty much every show these past years and the status of the song amongst casual fans. I think it was different back during the UYI tour when everything was sort of new for the casual fan.

Going on youtube today, it's the second most popular GN'R song behind Sweet Child. The music video has certainly helped the song over the years.

You only have one Lies song..

You don't think they'll break out at least one in addition to Patience (which I assume you mean with the 1)?

Even though I only had Patience as a staple from Lies, I truly hope they'll rotate between You're Crazy, Used To Love Her, Move To The City and Nice Boys from show to show.

Realistically, I see 2/3 CD songs.  That would make the most sense.  In 2014, they played on average 4 to 6 CD songs, and I just don't see them getting close to that amount this time around.  Which makes total sense, IMO.

But of course that's just my pessimism, so never say never.

The nostalgia factor is certainly the one we all feel, and the one they seem to promote.

Going into the stadium tour though, it would probably help to have a single release beforehand. They might save that for later also, for an extra boost if they plan on doing a new round of touring.

I can't quite remember if that is true.

They have played that song since 2006.

Right, so for 5 years or so, they didn't play it.  : ok:

No.  It's unfair to say they didn't play it for 5 years or so considering there were only 4 shows in 2001 - Jan 1 & 15 and Dec 29 & 31 and no shows after Dec 5, 2002 and no shows in all of 2003, 2004, 2005 and the first show of 2006 wasn't until May 12th.

BBF's first show with GNR was that May 12, 2006 show.  He added Don't Cry to his solo at the May 25th show.

I dont know if the tour will be pure nostalgia. Anyhow, the new take for the CD songs got me even more excited about it. Im sure Slash can handle anything while putting his own spin on it.

Unfair? Are you serious? There's so much unfair things that people say on here at that is unfair? The new keyboardist is a member of Gn'R? Without confirmation, Adler is going to be whacked out on painkillers and relapse soon and the original members of Gn'R have Tracii and Gardner in the lineup? Is that how we do things now?

And yes, there were no shows after 2002 because Axl decided not to show up in Philly. We all remember  : ok:

Facts... we are all about facts here... 5 years, no Don't Cry like i said.

I would like to see a duet on guitar between Slash and Richard . Just like Richard and Robin did with "Beautiful" back in 2006.

Something like that would be nice. Beautiful was good, as was Wild Horses by Slash and Gilby. But it should be kept quite short in my opinion.

Also something I'd like to hear is Oh My God. I know it's a long shot and pretty much nobody outside the GN'R fan camp know the song so it might not be a good idea, but anyway.. it's a great song!

First post...in many years. Figured THIS was the right thread as it's been the "thing" that we've all been pondering since '93...namely, what would the NEXT setlist from Gn'Fn'Rs consist of.

So here goes...

RE-NAME THE TOUR... "G n' F n' R s: BACK IN THE RING Tour"

MONTAGE OF QUOTES, MISQUOTES, PRESS RELEASES, RUMORS, SASQUATCH SIGHTINGS, ETC. FROM THE LAST 23 YEARS DANCE ACROSS THE MONITORS...BUILDING TO A FEVEROUS PITCH (would a re-recorded and UPDATED to reflect the times GET IN THE RING middle rant be too much to ask placed here)...then, BLACKOUT...

*train whistle*

1. NIGHTRAIN
2. WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE
3. YOU COULD BE MINE
4. LIVE & LET DIE
5. DON'T CRY
6. IT'S SO EASY
7. MR. BROWNSTONE
8. CHINESE DEMOCRACY
9. SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL
10. HAIR OF THE DOG+
11. DEAD HORSE#
12. CIVIL WAR
13. PATIENCE
14. THE BLUES*
15. NOVEMBER RAIN
16. SWEET CHILD O'MINE
17. ROCKET QUEEN

ENCORE:

18. THERE WAS A TIME
19. KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR^
20. PARADISE CITY

+ - substitute another SI song each night (ie: Ain't it Fun and Black Leather)
# - substitute another "not played since '93 OR ever UYI 1or2 song (ie: Don't Damn Me, Pretty Tied Up, Shotgun Blues, Right Next Door to Hell, Perfect Crime, etc.)
* - That's right...not Street of Dreams, but THE BLUES with Slash and band playing it like the ORIGINALLY did with Robin (no acoustic guitar...cool electric guitar riff BACK IN!!!)
^ - BACK to the UYI live version

Don't Cry is performed after the usual show ending song Paradise City.

It starts with Ron playing guitar and Axl singing.
They're later joined by Dizzy, Frank and Chris.

My guess:

Chinese Democracy
Better
Street of Dreams/Catcher in the Rye
I.R.S.
This I Love

If they play 5 CD songs a night, then I don't want to shit from anyone on that topic.  That would be roughly a quarter of the show.

Ok

8 songs from AfD
1 song from Lies
10 songs from UYI
4/5 songs from CD
4 covers (KOHD, LALD, The Seeker, New Rose)

27/28 songs in total + a few jams and solo spots. That's pretty realistic for me.

I think they will start with a lower number of songs and build the set as time goes on.
I believe almost every tour has done this.
I would say you can expect 20 songs plus solos to start and maybe by the end of the tour you would see 26 songs plus solos.
And I will be expecting more CD songs to show up.  I wasn't surprised they weren't there for the Troubador.....but they will come back.

Yup, give us the deep cuts! The "problem" I have with most covers is that I just think most Guns N' Roses songs are better than those other bands. "Spaghetti" covers works because they were recorded/released and I've listened to those songs a lot, I know them and pretty much consider them GNR songs. The Seeker? Don't the like the Who, Riff Raff? I don't like ACDC and so on. There's a reason I'm a GNR fan, you know.  :P

While some covers might be better than others, I'd much rather get Out Ta Get Me or Pretty Tied Up than Sway or Back in the USSR.

Agree, I think somewhere in the 20-23 range for these first two shows.

Coachella might be even tighter due to time constraints at the festival? Not sure what they have to go on there.

They have enough of their own to play. We're going to see GNR, not a wedding band. I think it's even kind of cheesy.

I wonder how many times they haven't been played in a full set since the UYI-tour started.

Can't remember anything except that KOHD was left out in Hershey in 1991. And LALD in Rock in Rio shows the same year.

They recorded these songs, it's almost one of their own and I love them. I was talking about adding new covers on this tour when they have so many songs the public has been waiting to hear.
I love The Who, ACDC, Stones etc. but I would easily replace The Seeker for something like Don't Damn Me.

I have to be honest, I am not a fan of the Who so this song holds no appeal to me but when you have people deriding others for saying the want or hope Guns play some VR stuff as it has nothing to do with GNR, it begs the question, what on earth does the Seeker have to do with GNR?

I get Whole Lotta Rosie, its been recorded by the band and they had Angus come on and guest so again, I get the AC/DC link there and then but otherwise, personally, I would rather they cover something from Snakepit, VR or Loaded than another band.

First line is probably true.

The second line is something I disagree with, as you can always complain about the setlist. And it's not stupid if you have a solid point. In this case I think it's fine to question the need of a cover song as the band has some pretty damn great original ones.

But the last line pretty much sums it up. Even if I'd like to hear a song like Dead Horse instead of The Seeker, I just want the band to do what they want to do. I think this has been discussed in other topics many times before..

When the tour is rolling - let's say for 3 or 4 months - then I would understand it.
But right now with only 4 shows played I think it's not the right time.
We have a great mixture of songs from the catalogue even with Coma returned to the setlist. I do agree that GNR's catalogue offers a variety of great songs that could be played. From a casual fan's point of view I think it is great that they are doing the "essential hits" plus a couple of others.

But I am not a casual fan ;)
I would like to see them play for 4 or 5 hours with Locomotive, Coma, There Was A Time and other songs like Don't Damn Me being played.

My wish is that My Michelle should always be in the set but only when Sebastian is available. This is so cool and that Mexico City when it was played was nothing like this.

Nah, only joking as long as it stays in the set. Then of course it will be so fucking amazing when that mr Bach appears again somewhere sometime in the summer.

Would love to hear that one too.
Perfect crime - will hopefully be a wish fulfilled soon *hoping*
For personal reasons I would LOVE to hear Right next door to hell.
Even my mum would recognize it - as I would ALWAYS play it really LOUD - every time we had a fight in my rowdy rebellious teenage years - especially when she forbid her 14 and 16 year old to go to that Guns n Roses shows...😜😂

My other requests for Philly:
- TWAT instead of Coma. It would be a first for me to hear Slash's version of the epic solo live. I've witnessed Slash live on Coma back in the day.
- Right Next Door to Hell, fucking LOVE that song.
- Locomotive. Come awn now bring that classic back!!!

- The Garden (Axl will do a mean Alice and Slash's solo is pretty great)
- Dead Horse (Axl on guitar again, would be pretty neat)
- Perfect Crime (Bad ass song, already rehearsed I presume, so...)
- Breakdown (Such a great song, more people need to know about it)
- Locomotive (Addictive guitar riff, might work as an alternate to Coma ? due to the length of the song)
- Move To The City (Back to the roots of GN'R, I always liked this one ? but do they need a horn section for this one maybe?)

Move to the City? Meh (definitely no horn section, although Melissa probably has a little button for "horns" on her synthesizer thingy)
I say if they're going to go back to "roots" then bust out Reckless Life . . .  third most underrated GNR song next to Don't Damn Me and Breakdown.

"Hey Fuckers . . . suck on Guns N Fucking Roses . . . ."

I wouldn't mind seeing a few AFDs swapped out for a few UYIs.  Some will awlays be locks : WTTJ, ISE, NT, MB, PC

Do you need 'Rocket Queen' every single night?  Maybe, because of the jamming aspect.  But I'm not as sold.

You damn sure don't need 'Out Ta Get Me' or 'My Michelle' as frequent staples.  I could get onboard with regualry swapping them out for more frequent performances of 'Yesterdays' or a dusting off of 'Dead Horse' or 'Pretty Tied Up'.

I almost agree.  I love the song and would love the chance to see more clips of them play this   I wouldn't want them to make it regular song though  to me it kills the appeal of songs when they ar splayed every night

I am not sure which show(s) I will attend this summer, maybe 1-2 out of St. Louis, Minn, Denver, or The Gorge

My wish for sets, would be...less covers. Cut loose The Seeker for sure, and lessen or shorten up the long jam sessions

I saw em 4x's this year, and did not get Used To Love Her, so I want that for sure. Would also love to see Think About You, Dust N' Bones, Move To The City, and Your'e Crazy(lies) blended in semi regularly.

And make sure Coma and Estranged stay!!!

Definitely Pretty Tied Up and Dead Horse!!!  PLEASE!!!  Also Bad Obsession would be very cool!  And Locomotive!  And Get in the Ring!

Loads of others I'd love, but can't imagine they'd ever do - Don't Damn Me is a massive favourite of mine, but the wall-to-wall lyrics would hardly give Axl time to catch breath, so prob a non-starter.

I'm sure we will get some Nice Boys and AC/DC stuff on the Aussie tour.

So long as they play This I Love and Coma I'll be content but Breakdown  and Pretty Tied Up would be pretty insane to witness.

Really looking forward to the Wish You Were Here and would be great to here it expanded into a full cover because they would nail it.

Like to hear Sailing, they played it everywhere in 07, everywhere but the shows I attended.

I've just realized that one of the possible reasons why they don't play Locomotive is that certain parts of the song  have 3 layers of vocals, all done by Axl. Obviously that would be impossible to do live so I'm not sure what it would sound like.

Then again that might not be the reason at all.

My World would be pushing things a little far. I mean it's a fun little number in a way, but a live rendition of that would be just terrible

If they're gonna keep playing KOHD (and I'm sure they are), they should at least drop the extended boring jam and try to get closer to what they did with it during the Appetite days.

I would love a Right Next Door To Hell and Riad combo. In my mind, it's a seamless transition with the last guitar note echo from RNDTH ending through the echo guitar riff in RNTB (which would sound way more hard rock with Slash, I'm sure).

Heartbreak Hotel,  Shadow of Your Love and Reckless Life w/ Tracii
There Was A Time and Nightrain w/ Buckethead
Sorry w/ Sebastian Bach

I would hope we would see Izzy on stage before Tracii gets the invite, but I like those song ideas particularly Shadow. Other than that, I don't know about guests especially Sebastian, they sort of played that out in the 2006-2010 time frame. Plus we saw him in Vegas last year, he is honestly better suited playing with Steel Panther than GnR.

What I would love to hear is either Fall to Pieces, Slither, or Anastasia. Beyond that anything rarely heard off of Use Your Illusion would be good, Dead Horse and Breakdown would be 2 that I would love to hear.

Totally agree, but some people may not know if a song has been played live or not before. From your choices, if I'm not mistaken they've  never played Don't Damn Me (that song for Axl must be really hard to sing...every time I sing it I run out of breath!). Bad Apples? I don't think it's ever been played, anyone?

One in a Million, Breakdown have only been played twice. I could see Breakdown being played more than I see OIAM. The latter is not the easiest song to play in front of 50,000 people of different races/color.

Now, if I could choose my dream setlist...

Some of my choices have never been played live. I never really understood why the main singles from TSI never made it live. When Guns announced they were touring again (with Slash and Duff) I thought I could see SIDHY or AIF come alive, but oh well...It's true they now play Attitude/New Rose/Raw Power, but that's to give Duff the mic so Axl can take a breather.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they played AIF or SIDHY?

About SFTD, well that's the song that "broke" them apart originally so I don't think they'll ever play it.

Bad Apples? I don't think it's ever been played, anyone?

Rock in Rio II had that one in the set.

But I would love to hear Sorry with Sebastian since they have never done this live.

In theory this would be cool, but they would have to turn off his mic, because he is so buried in the mix on Sorry that I question if he is really there.
