Hey wondering what everyone thinks and why. Not meaning your favorite song...but the song I guess defines them for reasons you like or not. Kind of like "highway to hell" "stairway to heaven" "I wanna be sedated" or "walk this way". I think I know what 9 out of 10 replies would be but heres hoping I am wrong and that this thread will be interesting.

I think it's WTTJ. It's kind of like an anthem, and it's gotten so much exposure through the years thru movies, sporting events, and everything. Plus I think it's the song most closely associated with GnR. And if u ask casual fans what they know about GnR it would probably be a common response.

Paradise City/Scom/Wttj

in that specific order.. whether someone likes gnr or not, if they ever heard of gnr, 95% chance that one of those songs are what they heard..

for older listeners, it's most likely welcome to the jungle.
for younger listeners, like teens, it's most likely november rain.

people who were around when gn'r got and were huge remember jungle the most because that was like made them go "wow". i would also assume that it was in heavy airplay when it came out.

people like myself, who were born when gn'r got and were huge remember november rain the most because that's the video we always saw growing up, and it was the one that was always talked about and was on all the countdowns we watched.

For the really young people (People younger than me on my school ETC), I think actually its dont' cry.. (Maybe Sweet child O mine)...

But for the older people, and all together, I think Paradise City and Nov. Rain are the ones...

As I see for the people I know:
1. SCOM
2. November Rain
3. Paradise City
4. KOHD
5. Don't Cry

My list is different. For me GN'R signature songs are WTTJ, Paradise City and SCOM (in this order).

GNR is too big to have a signature song.Legendary bands only have signature songs in the eyes of casual fans.

For example,if you ask someone what's Rolling Stones' signature song, most people say "Satisfaction".  But RS fans know that they have better songs

I think you're wrong. I said in the original post it's not about what their best song is. I am a huge stones fan and have been for years. I have almost everyone of their albums and I would be one to say "satisfaction" is their signature song but a band can have a signature song no matter how big a fan of theirs you are.

G N'R's most famous song, most listened to by the public would have to be WTTJ, SCOM is mainly famous in G N'R fans minds.

First song that came into my head was Welcome To The Jungle.

It is the best rock song ever put out. Hard, dirty, gritty and bluesy as hell.

This song defines HARD ROCK
