Title: Importance of a secondary singer in gnr
Post by: TheBaconman on March 14, 2015, 06:42:54 AM
Well as much as a lot of people give Robin crap for his sloppy live solos.    One of the biggest things the dude does bring is.  Is he can sing.    He sounds good

So the question is, how important is a backing singer to Axl, is it to you?

For me.

It means a lot when a member of the band can sing and sounds good.

It is important. Robin was great, Ron is great. Tommy and Duff are great. Izzy was great.

Ithink gnr needs two good backup singers. then one or two for stuff that Chris is singing. Just basic backing vocals.

I also liked the backup singers from the Illusion tour a lot.

They were great.

Just watching a Robbie Williams concert right now.   Talk about a front man that gets it

Axl should write him a song.

I would love it

Baby!

Well...If it's Dizzy or Tommy or someone else singing backup vocals I'm ok with it.It's cool.
That old fucking circus with the 2 girls in the old days,no.
I hated it.

I think Tommy has the coolest vibe to his voice. Like a cross between Izzy and Duff's voice.

Live, it's good for Guns to have a voice that can harmonize and balance with Axl's high pitch.

Sometimes Ron's backing vocals are a little bit "to agressive". Does anyone agree with that?

Yes, I do not enjoy Ron's voice. I did like the Tracey and Roberta backing on Heaven's door during the many UYI shows I caught.

Has anybody noticed that Izzy And Robin have really similiar voice.

For a long time i was not sure who was singing backing vocals on on Mr.Brownstone on Live era 87-93. Izzy sounds exactly like Robin there.

I tell you Robin is very under rated as a background singer.

The best bands in the world have this.   A lead singer and a guy that sounds great in the back ground.

I generally don't think guns gets enough credit for having this

Loved duff and Izzys voice.    In the back ground.   As lead singers not so much, one two songs ok

Robin and tommy were and are good.

Again I tell you.  I hate drum solos and overly long guitar solos.

Nothing better than going to a live concert and being able to sing along to your fav songs with the band.

I know Richard sings backup on stage. Anybody got any videos where you can clearly hear his voice? I can't say that I have a clear idea of what his singing voice sounds like.
