This is a Joke. Avril Lavignes and Pinks producer? This is this guys cred?

Dave Navarro Is Limelight hogging fuck. Come on Gilby, you were meant to stay out of the spotlight. I still like you. But seriously, you are above this crap.

Tommy Lee: "I love breaking the rules"

Nice you dipshit, since when did being a corporate whore mean that you were a rule breaker?

Just to add another source

www.gilbyclarke.com

Yes, it's true...CBS' "Rock Star" is adding some heavy metal to its lineup this summer.

Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses) along with Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), and Jason Newsted (Metallica),are forming a new band called Supernova, and will use the Mark Burnett-produced "Rock Star" to search for a lead singer

Thats awsome... Unlike last season with INXS, we'll definetly hear some Guns songs.
I can't wait to see Slash guest on it. Good luck to Gilby!

that's his cred to mainstream guys. he's a brilliant producer/songwritter/perfomer/vocalist/guitarrist. since you obviously don't know him, check out his work before you make an opinion.
if you're into 80's hair metal check his band Southgang, or if you're into kick ass hard rock check his Marvellous 3  2"ready sex go" album or the hit single "freak of the week", but his best stuff was difinitly his 2 solo albums - left of self centered (with nikky sixx guesting) and Letters.

As I said before, you can rip Tommy and maybe even Jason Newsted for this, but maybe if more people went to Gilby's shows and bought his cd's, it would help-an offer comes from CBS to do a TV show and he has a chance for exposure to millions of people and you want him to turn it down? You've got to be kidding

he broke your rules, didn't he..?

Here's a different perspective from an actual working professional musician, very interesting insight for sure..

From Billy Morrison:

Brilliant question about where the line is drawn regarding Celebrity. You know, it is a vague line, and it moves about, depending on who or what you are talking about. To me, I think you have to realize that Television is becoming the record company. The marketing and placement from being on TV is second to none. And as the labels continue to suffer from lower record sales, they become keener to line their artists up with television stuff. Some artists (like Tommy Lee) have developed a niche in television for themselves that runs hand in hand with making music. And I think that those artists are the winners. I have heard the new Panic Channel stuff, and anyone who says that Dave's creativity has suffered from his (relatively) new found television celebrity is just tripping! The TPC stuff sounds fucking amazing, and Dave's celebrity has NOTHING to do with the music he makes. So I think that Celebrity overtaking Art doesn't apply. There are, however, some great examples of where the Art doesnt exist at all!! I think we can all think of those. Just remember that Tommy doing Season 2 Rock Star does not make him any less of a great musician .... it just gives him a bigger platform on which to be that great musician. Thats my two cents.[/i]
