Well I sent email to them on Friday and got one back here it is:

Product enquiry.

Guns N' Roses new album "Chinese Democracy" is availible at your store on Nov 23rd/08 my question is in regardes to the 2 cd-fan pack, what is it exactly, I know its 2 cds and a shirt, but what is on the other cd, and what kind of shirt? please respond asap so I can get look into this.

Dear Gunsguy:

Thank you for your email. I have forwarded your request along to our product dept. for more information. They have advised me that the release we have been offered by the record label only contains the T-shirt and CD; there is no 2 disc set. Unfortunately, we do not have artwork of what the T-shirt looks like right now. I would suggest contacting us again as the release date gets closer, and the record company provides us with more information on the final package design.
Respectfully,

yeah exactly. at the most a tshirt is like 20 bucks. add cd and it adds up to like 30 something. if that really is the pack for 50, well thats a bit ridiculous if i may say so myself.

agreed...looks like management wants to make some money back fast.  Throw in a t-shirt and more than double your profit...does seem odd, maybe price will come down at release time.

Perhaps the 't-shirt' is the overstock of GnR hockey jerseys?  That why it is only offered in Canada right now and completely justifies $50 pricetag...  hihi

The shirt is probably around 25, and CD's are usually 20 bucks here. So there is the $45 price tag.

I'm guessing none of you have ever bought or taken a look at what HMV thinks a Tshirt is worth....or what HMV thinks anything is worth.

I've seen DVDs there for $50, whereas Wal Mart has 10,000 of the same one in the $4.99 bin.

$42 for a CD and T-shirt at HMV is a great deal, by their stanards.

Hello guys. I work for HMV Canada and I decided to post this info here regarding the Fanpack and what this is about. First of all here is the sellsheet from Universal Music Canada:

As you can see it is simply a special fanpack package with a Large size t-shirt (which is very cool looking by the way!!!)

This is just to clarify any bad info going on the web about this. Also the price you see on HMV.ca right now (41,99$) is the SRP (suggested retail price) by Universal Music Canada. HMV Canada will NOT sell this fanpack at that price. Expect something like 30$ on release day and a little higher (around 35$) the next day. The same goes for the retail price of the regular CD that is currently at 19,99$ on HMV.ca. Once again HMV will NOT sell the regular CD at that price. Except something very lower than that!!! (right now a secret by the way...) Expect the best price in Canada on release day at HMV.

Also it is cool to know that every HMV stores in Canada have also ordered vinyls copies of the album. Yes... vinyls are not dead! Smiley

Notice in the tracklisting on that Universal Music New Release sheet that Carl posted, Track #7 reads "Catcher N' The Rye" instead of Catcher In the Rye??  Huh

At the rate Tommy, Richard, Brain and now Josh Freese are procreating, I'm surprised there isn't an entire line GNR baby items.  hihi

It would be cooler if the T-Shirt was the NEW GNR logo.

I'd expect some new artwork on the T-shirt too...

Guess this is just marketing strategy, not that it's not a nice shirt!!

But i guess new(er) looking merch. will be available, it's just that that particular logo speaks to the masses and gets more attention and very easy to recognise.

Fans like us (forum-members who are frequantly staying updated) recognise new logo's and artwork in an instant .  hihi
