Everyone keeps saying how much better Axl's vocals are on the new version, but i've been listening to both versions at the same time on two different media players... and i'm convinced that (apart from those backing vocals), both versions have EXACTLY the same vocals. The only reason they are clearer is because they seem to be a lot higher in the mix.  I repeat... Axls vocal tracks are the same on both versions...

The verison used in the Harley ad was more like the 2006 mix. This 2007 mix sounds no where near as good as the 2006 mix.

This version is pretty shitty.....all you really hear is Axl and all the other instrumental shit is compressed....Hopefully just another demo...or a bullshit remix....they would never put that shitty version out...

It's a very weird mix. I'd guess that it was mixed to deliberately highlight certain aspects, rather than attempting the best presentation of the song. It's almost an inversion of the previous leak's mix.

The song still sounds a little rough.. I'm not even sure what I like more, the old or the new version.

I don't like it all that much  :no: If it was up to me the song would sound a lot fuller.. the vocals are a bit too high in the mix (never thought I would say this) and the instruments sound like a mess. I like the pitman effects, but it would be nice to actually hear them (not some fuzzy noise in the background).

This track could be so much more.. sound a lot more "dreamy" like, take you on a journey (especially towards the end), etc. In my imagination it sounds 10 times nicer  :'(

When you take a song from ProTools and put it on a computer or whatever, it has to be compressed in order for it to be compatible. As good as this sounds, on the actual cd is gonna sound so much better. It will be the true sound, and you will be able to hear everything clearly. But this version is a lot more clean sounding than the other one.

Actually, two days short of the one year of the full, first Better leak.

Even though I know this is true, at 160bkps it shouldn't have such an effect on the stuff I'm talking about.

And I believe bumblefoot when he says that it's an experimental mix and not final.

Kidding- but after listening to it more and more- I have to take back what I said earlier- I now think this could very well be fanmade. I remember? (IMSorry?) did a Better remaster with a drum machine over the original drums and it just as well done as this one- except not as glossy with effects. And the back up singing- and bass could be recorded and put in by anyone.


So yeah.... whoever did it (if they did it) did a great job of making something like this out of the original demo.

And I dont know anyone who can sing exactly like Axl, so it would be hard to change the 2nd chorus and do all those harmonies in the Na na na part.

As much as I love the song, the new harmonies, etc., I hope it isn't the final mix.  The instrument panning and balance seems way off during certain parts of the track (all bass on the right, for example).   As I spend a lot of time listening w/ headphones on, I'd be a bit disapppointed if this was the final, mixed version that was on CD.

There are 3 possibilities, a genuine leak, a fan remaster (in that case the guy responsible should be hired asap by someone) or it's a 'feeler' to check out the vibe.

I'm leaning on the first alternative, and that it's an older demo. Definitely not a close to being finished song.

Dude its def more current. The way Axl sang it live in '06 with the 2nd chorus is the way he sings here. Also, if you listen to the live versions the synth is a lot higher in the mix than in the previously leaked demo, just like this version. Its def a more current version of the song than the leak of last year. It sounds closer to being finished than last years. The sound is a lot better, you can hear everything clearer and Axl's voice is a lot louder in the mix. Axl's voice should be a hint right away that this is a more current mix. Listen to how loud his voice is in the Harley ad, its similar in this demo.

Sorry about the wording. Older as in not near finished. The HD ad sounded more finished than this. It's possible this is just a version that the band screwed around with all the times Axl wasn't there. Hell, it could even be leaked because the Pitman mania is reaching new heights these days. Who knows what type of stuff the hoarders got in their vaults.

This sounds cleaner than the initial leak, but the mix is still pretty bad. No way this is the finished work from Mr. Wallace.

I dont think this is finished, but I do think its a lot closer to being finished. From this version, I'd say a little tinkering is still left, plus mastering obviously.

Disagreed man. I understand what you're saying, "If you don't like Better already you probably won't like it no matter what" but really mixing makes a huge difference. Not to mention that they've likely added parts.

They could still butcher the song.. and they could still make it 4 times better.... it all depends on the mixing.

I think the new leak sounds much better.  Especially the new intro.

I believe the original blog that posted this -- supposedly it was the single sent out to video directors.  There could be any number of different mixes floating around.  That's kind of Axl's game these days, isn't it?  Doesn't he claim that Oh My God as released (and dismissed) was only a 'demo?'

Personally, the more Pitman he puts in the mix, the better.  Then at least nobody's going to hear the album and say the old guys could have done it better. 

Isn't it the same when you play unreleased song live to some extent?

I listened to this "new" Version. It's no leak But a very nice Fanmade version. You can tell it not real. But very nice To listen to for fun.. If you heard the Original leak b4, Don't bother with this one. its almost the exact same.

This is not even close to a true statement.

I think it could be fanmade.  Or maybe Axl put his vocals and Robin's solo super high in the mix and Buckethead's solo super low as some kind of message about not relying on Bucket.  I listened to it twice and it was nice.  Now I wait for the real deal.

Andy Wallace' talents will make everyones contributions to the album equally shine Im sure.
