« on: June 28, 2009, 08:41:09 AM »

Normally I'd be frusterated with such a topic.. But at this time it seems nothing is hapening w/ CD..I wonder if DJ Asba was brought in to polish up some material, as he did w/ SIXX AM and Motley Crue?
Was CD released as a personal artistic goal for Axl with a more comercially accepted album for the general fan base on the horizon..I personally LOVE CD. Some songs took awhile to truely appreciate, If The World for example.
I'm just wondering what people feel at this time..Has your opinion recently changed on the status of the promotion behind CD? Will a tour at such a late stage drastically improve sales. To me thos album needs the push of a large scale tour. As much as I would love new material I want the masses to hear and appreciate this MASTERPIECE!!!!

Personally, I have this cd and I'm ready for the next.  I'd hate to be stalled out on new music while the only purpose of touring is just to promote this album.

But then again it's fun to have them on tour and if there is never another cd, not that I'm saying there won't be, I can still be excited about them being out on the road.

Sales and top of the pile stuff doesn't really mean anything to me.  As long as the band is still alive.

being 7 months away from the album release, I really prefer a tour. I'm still obsessed with CD and I think I need more time to explore and enjoy it. I'm still tied to these 14 songs, and I would relly love to hear them performed live before a new album is released.

Tour, because I want the material that they have already released to be a bit more successful.

I obviously want to hear more music, but at the same time I want other people to appreciate it more.

I'd be happy to take studio albums with only occasional one-off live appearances. It just seems like the studio is where Axl's muse is at. Unfortunately, with album sales down the toilet (generally speaking - not just for GNR) touring is pretty much a necessity.

I think first Axl has to ask himself if he wants to continue to be an entertainer in the music business.
Second he needs to find one lead-guitarist who is going to work with him exclusively on writing new songs.
Than perhaps he can release a new cd and tour it. The cd and tour should be bare-bones hard rock & roll. Get a great drummer; bassist; 2nd guitarists and perhaps a keyboardist if they are going to do any songs requiring that instrument.
As far as the old band reunion that's not going to happen.
It all comes down to what Axl wants.
I kind of think Axl no longer wants to deal with the bullshit of the music business; promoters and whatever else that goes along with it. I can respect his wishes. He's a smart man. I'm convinced he wants to live in peace for the rest of his years to come and not end up being a puppet and dying from a drug overdose.  beer

So I take it you're not pleased with the current lineup?  I'd love to hear what Axl, Ron, DJ, etc can come up with.  But of course I'd love to see a tour as well.

Well it's not that I don't like the current line up. The problem is the CD has lost the main guitarists to perform CD. At this point I can't comment on DJ because I've never heard him and his guitar chops with Nicky Sixx.
A tour for CD would be great but obviously there is a problem weather it's the band or contracts (I'm not sure and I don't even know if what we've read or heard is the truth.

Release new album, then tour with less than 25%  of the entire set being a mix of AFD/Lies/UYI songs.

And tour mid size theatres. CD is too creatively and sonically brilliant to lose out in a monstro arena.

New album this fall coinciding with an immediate tour, much like AC DC and Metallica did this past fall, would be ideal.  But why should they start that whole "normal band" thing now.  hihi

I'd fucking love them to do residencies at theaters performing C.D. front to back, film that sucker and put it out on a DVD. However, the chances of such an occurrence are eclipsed by the chances of my testicles turning into the Olsen twins and making out with each other.

The fact that the release of the current album was such a struggle, I'd say a tour seems "easier".

Especially if the tour starts in places that actually love GN'R.

But I'm just assuming that it would be easier to deal with promoters compared to Interscope....  nervous

Yeah. Honestly, I'd be good with a tour starting elsewhere then the US. I mean bootlegs are pretty readily available and just to hear them playing live. I'm enjoying the hell out of the album so I'm not even concerned with more material just yet. I'd just love to see GNR out playing, wherever it may be.

either would be  a miracle.

But a tour would be best plus its promotion. After the 06-07 runs the greatest hits sales etc rocketed for a few weeks so naturally more sales of cd would arise from a tour.

They've already done two ChiDem tours, and since the 2006 one had crisp Axl vocals, Izzy, and Baz, I don't see how a 2009 or 2010 ChiDem tour could be any better. I'd go to a gig or two, no doubt, but what makes more sense musically?

Everybody's favorite real metal band has done these "escape from the studio" tours almost every summer for years.

Without new albums out.

I don't follow their fans, but are they unhappy about them touring during those summers?

My guess is: hell no!

I want more new songs!
But we all do, I suppose...
CD just built it!

Still, I'd LOVE to hear
Stuff we haven't heard live, LIVE!!
"Prostitute" big time,

"If the World", "Shackler's",
And "Sorry" would be highlights...
Still, I want more stuff!

I'm being greedy,
And there's no way around it.  Smiley
Take time you need, boys!!!
