Just checked NIN website out, and Robin wasnt listed in the current band. I thought the whole point of him leaving GNR was to stay with NIN?

Guess it was like the press release said "calculated gamble"

In between Robin leaving Guns N' Roses for NIN, Robin's wife Bianca gave birth to a lovely baby.  It's obvious since the last NIN tour came to an end, that Robin now wants to live a more quieter life, and settle down and be with his family. Robin still pops up now and then to play low profile gigs with various artists, at a venue or at a gallery or museum. But what I can gather is that he wants to step away from the demanding touring, that touring with GN'R or NIN naturally brings.

I'm sure we all wish Robin the best, and to hope he feels free to make a special guest appearence with GN'R again to rock Better.  Wink

Robin hasn't been in NIN since 2009.  Basically after the NIN tour ended it was like being laid off with the possibility of returning one day if asked by the employer.  So, whether he was asked or not, he still hasn't been in NIN since 2009.

I think having a toddler would be a factor in not wanting to tour extensively now, but I'm not sure Robin was even been considered for the new NIN lineup anyway since the idea to re-invent NIN was born out of a collaboration between Trent and Adrian Belew (who is the new NIN guitarist).  I'm assuming Trent had Adrian in mind as lead guitarist anyway since they were working on new NIN material together.  Trent's vision for NIN live has changed, and Adrian has been a long time collaborator (and has contributed far more to NIN recordings than Robin ever did) so it makes sense.  Trent said he didn't even intend for it to be a full tour, it was just supposed to be a couple shows but then it grew from there.

Also Robin has always been low-profile outside of NIN/GN'R, for his entire career.  So, I guess it's interesting to see if it'll stay that way forever, or if he'll actually start letting people know about things he's doing and shows he's playing one day, instead of just playing shows/events and not telling anyone about them.  And if he ever releases a solo album.
