« on: October 11, 2004, 01:03:02 PM »

I plan on buying a new bridge pick up for my Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I love playing with a bluesy sound, and the Seymour Duncan Alnico pro 2 pick ups are exactly that. BUT, I?m afraid I wont be able to get that good AC/DC or Lynyrd Skynyrd sound outta her if I use these pickups. I will be using a Marshal MG30 AMP. What are your thoughts? Will I still get a good classic rock sound outta these or will the base be to strong?

Thanks.

 Roll Eyes? ? Shocked

My question still stands...

Any suggestions on a pedal that will give me that type of sound?

You should have no problem reaching AC/DC or Skynyrd with the Alnico II Pros, which are a low output PAF-ish pickup. Getting a tube Marshall amp will help you reach AC/DC and G N R type tones too. Most of Angus's tone is Gibson SG with humbuckers-->various Marshall tube amps.
