A wildly successful VR Album without him on it. That would shatter the myth (in his mind) that he was the only thing that made GNR what it was and basically ensure we will never see CD.  Cry

Naupis, I think you're probably on the mark here.  Axl seems to be a man living in fear, and VR has just got to be eating him alive right about him.  Anyway, this "myth," as you said, is only in his mind and his mind alone.  As far as GNR fans are concerned, thank God for Velvet Revolver.  I really no longer care if we ever see Chinese Democracy.

Yes you do!  Otherwise you would not be on this site talking about him or GNR?

like someone else said i'd agree that axl's biggest fear is failure, and I highly doubt axl is afraid or even cares if VR is successful or not, I dont know why people think VR being successful is going to have such a big impact on Axl when he most likely could give less than a shit

Axl has never put down the guys' talents.  He has in fact specifically given high compliments to Slash (like he did in the gnronline statement/release in Aug 02).... hence, he is under no such misconception as you state - not from what I have seen/heard/read.  What has he said that means that he thinks he was the only thing that made GN'R what it was?

GN'R was what it was.  And he is proud of it - as all the guys should be of the music they created.

I don't think Axl has a 'big fear' of any sort.  He is human just like the rest of us, though, so I'm sure he has times when he is discouraged by all the things that seem to keep working against him.  But he is not showing any signs of letting those things stop him - he keeps on pressing forward and not giving up.  I'd say that he is anxious to get past all the bullshit he has to deal with and get the CD out and the band on the road.  So I'd say he has anxiety.  Not fear.

Everyone fears failure and rejection, and Axl is only human. There is a lot at stake here. But how can he possibly fear that whenever he decides to release the CD, it won't be successful? I think all of us here, will buy it, right?   I know I will. The GH is doing well, which is really a good sign. I guess the waiting, and not knowing is HARD!

Ummm...Just out of the new songs he has showcased (Madagascar and the blues), should indicate how good the CD is going to be?

waking up to find he has a dog named "Toto?"

meaning he's in Kansas and not who he really is. The Wizard of Oz movie? Waking up to not knowing who he really is or where he's been.
