From Mygnrforum.....
 Roll Eyes
Axlized

I just got the Official Woodstock Newsletter, I signed up for it back in 1999 and I got a new one today saying this (I made the parts bold, the letter didn't come like that):
_________________________________________________________
Official Woodstock.com Newsletter

No one thought it would happen again but after many years it's back!!!

Woodstock's newest installment Woodstock 2005 will feature over 50 bands and tons of activites that are out of this world.

Due to the destruction of Woodstock 99 we have been forced to move the festival to a different place, this year we're going to rock one of the biggest cities in Canada.....Toronto!

Woodstock 2005 will take place July 13th, 14th, and 15th 2005.

Some of the bands that have been confirmed are:

Linkin Park
Eminem
Black Sabbath
Eric Clapton
The Police
Blink 182
Green Day
Slipknot
and
Metallica

Plus a special guest (hint: When these guys play it'll be so hot you're gonna be wishing for some "November Rain".)

MORE UPDATES LATER.

Since the last Woodstock went all to hell, Im sure they were banned from that place forever, so moving the damn thing is obvious.

Wont we just see "Rock in Rio" in Europe?

The difference is?

That's as far as we know. He was talking about telling us a release date in a few months so he must be some way to solving the mess after Buckethead's departure.

As to moving Woodstock.... that's a no-brainer. Of course they would move it, and it's very possible it will happen.

As for Rock in Rio III, I believe it's called 'Rock in Rio Lisbon'.

However, I don't think I can be interested in news of a concert over a year from now.

As somebody on another forum pointed out, why would Giuliani, the mayor of NYC, have anything to do with an event taking place in upstate NY?

Also, when did the Polic reunite?

And why would the organizers release something like this more than a year before its scheduled?

Its clearly bullshit.

Don't you think news would've leaked of a Police reunion before they had this show announced? BS! Here's a question, though, are there any major music festivals scheduled in Europe in the late summer/fall of this year? Somehting could happen then, but not likely Tongue

Rock in Rio and Woodstock are brands, they can take place anywhere the promoters see fit. The names are so big that they dont need to make them in the city. Yes I know its a bit retarded to call Rock in Rio in Lisbon but the brand name of Rock in Rio is well known and gives more credibility to the festival, same with Woodstock.

It could definately be VR.
Probably more likely than it being GNR.

They are in fact, most likely, hinting at a VR appearance

I doubt it, otherwise they would have just listed "Velvet Revolver" with the rest of the bands. You have Linkin Park, Eminem, Eric Clapton, Metallica, etc. Performers of huge magnitude/popularity. The way the advertisement is set up, it's like they're promoting the special guest as the main event. There's no way they do that for Velvet Revolver, but it would be about the hundredth time a big event has been made of "The Return of Guns N' Roses."

Also, there'd be no reason to have Velvet Revolver as a special guest instead of just listing the band. My only possible explanation would be that they think no one will have any clue who Velvet Revolver is, and want to capitialize on the fact that there are two ex-GN'R members in the band. And I don't think anyone in Velvet Revolver would approve of that.

Woodstock.com USED to be owned by Woodstock LLC (the "owners" of the Woodstock brand).  However, their whois info has changed, dramatically, since I last saw it (a LONG time ago).  I can't, for the life of me, figure out why it would unless the doman name is no longer owned by them.  I'd be leary of this email were I you....

Woodstock LLC should be contacted to see if this is legit.  I know their home offices WERE on Madison Ave in NY, but not sure of the addy and phone number.....

"Woodstock" 2005 would make no sense anyway, if they were still trying to stay true to the anniversary dates (1994 was the 25th anniversary, '99 the 30th, 2005...the 36th???) I don't think so.

Well that's true but it was still meant to be in Woodstock. It only moved because of problems with the site and still took place only 60 miles from Woodstock.

Moving it to Canada would be just another part of the constant comercial crap that we have to suffer, and is a far cry from moving 60 miles cus of unsolvable problems.

Yes, that's true for the original Woodstock.  In 1994, it was at the original site, but then in 1999 it was moved to a totally different place and was very comercialized and total crap.  It was cool in 1994!  ok

THis is what I am thinking. THis is totally fake because Woodstock  has been in 1969, 25 years later in 1994, 5 years later in 1999. Why would they have one 6 years later IN A DIFFERENT F'ING COUNTRY???

Wouldn't they just call it a new concert name!! Like Toronto Music Fest

Well one of the reasons they could have it in Toronto is beacuse there is a town called Woodstock near Toronto, AND officials could be enticed by Toronto because they hosted just about the most successful single-day event concert ever on North American soil.

450,000 fans, HUGE acts and barely one incident.

I checked with gnr's booking agent for America and Canada and he says that that nothing has been booked for both territories to his knowledge

And there you have it, boyz and girlz, now onto the next one. (Thank God Mysteron is here, at least GNR's agents will talk to someone) ok

This is total bollocks through and through. Ozzy Osbourne hasn't recovered from the neck injury that may well end his on-stage career...rehearsals with Sabbath/finding Geezer will hardly be on the agenda right now/will take some considerable time Grin
Ozzy is headlining OZZFEST this summer... and a Black Sabbath Reunion looks like its a go as CO Headliner of OZZFEST with Judas Priest...

Amen, Peter, but let's get back on topic, lest we fear the wrath of the mods.

1st id like to say that I went to woodstock 94 and 99 -

i do think there will be a woodstock in 05 - i kinda thought 04 might happen but I think they had too much work to do to get it done right by this summer.

in 94 I saw slash jam with paul rodgers- it was pretty cool.

Maybe for the next one Buckethead can jam with him.

Woodstock 94 was NOT in the original place(some1 said it was)
woodstock 99 was not in the original place

woodstock 69 wasnt even in woodstock.... so who gives a fuck where it is.  It's gonna happen but I wouldnt bet on those bands being there.  It's a bit soon to talk about what the line up will be.  I'm sure Metallica will be there and I bet Guns N Roses will be there.  Scott Weiland will OD by then so VR wont be there.

Also, woodstock 99 was cool..... it wasnt really that bad.  A small group of assholes fucked it up bitching about 5 dollar water bottles but I've spent over 5 bucks at Ozzfest, Baseball games etc...  so it was a bunch of losers that just wanted to fuck shit up.
