I'm a llama!

« on: April 17, 2004, 10:00:19 PM »

alright......... I have to confess

I used to think this was one of the worst songs I had heard in my entire life....but then something happened, and now I  have realized that this is truly an incredible song.

Do yourself a favor.... drive around on a beutiful night with the windows down, and blare So Fine....thats what it took for me..  when it kicks in and Duff says "When i look right up at night..." it will hit you.. the song truly is "so fine"

If you hate it, i can understand as i hated the song for years... but one day it will catch you off guard, and you too will fall under the spell of  So Fine

So Fine  ok
ah.. I love watching them perform this on the Tokoyo videos.

and you make an interesting point about how something can 'hit' you that didn't before
it often does have a lot to do with your surroundings and frame of mind

"yeah... I think you know where that comes from"
ha!
the guitar piece after this... heaven  peace

Yeah i agree, i love the tokyo version especially.

And the ending 'Because she's smart, that's why'  and then Duff 'thats right, thankyou'

I like that for some strange reason

The lyrics are wrote for who though?
I've always wanted to ask this question, i think maybe Duff's wife at the time, if he had one at the time, cos he's had 3!

I remember when I was getting into the Illusion albums in 1992 and hearing the lyrics to So Fine and cringing a bit. But the song has a sleaziness to it that's kinda cool, and the song is very much Duff all over.
I like it, but it's not my fav GN'R song.

I'm hoping VR will play it on tour though, with Duff on vocals of course. ok

Though it's quite a simple song I'd easy to get into it.

Still today I think it's a great song but not top 5 at the equal album UYI2

I like your sense of humor madmandan Cool

I was fed up with the illusions albums when i got into the oh my god so that song didn't get into me right away. But if you're into more heavier stuff... you'll get goozebombs. (It took time though)
i like some songs now better than before. it's strange; double talking jive don't work in the vocals live but the live solo is much better than the edited studio clip

I like the soft parts of so fine

the extended screams on jungle and live and let die in the new line up is like heaven. It totally takes off.

I really don't like so fine very much at all. And I understand that's just my own subjective opinion of the song, and that everyone has a different taste. But the one thing I can't understand is that some of you think Duff does a good job on vocals on this song? That's crazy duff should never have been allowed anywhere near a mic. With Izzy singing, and Axl singing on this album, Duff songs like he has something stuck in his voice box, in comparison. But again that's just my opinion.

I've had the Gn'R albums for quite some time now. When I first bought them I'd play them over and over again, they'd be certain songs I didn't like the sound of, but as I played them again they started to grow on me.

I find that sometimes I have to be in a certain mood to listen to a song and actually enjoy it, but then again allot of the songs suit all my moods.

I don't think there's a Gn'R song I don't like now.

I agree that "The King Of Beers" is not the best singer in the world but he sings sorta punky like the music he grew up with. As for writing, go out and buy Duff McKagan's "Beleive In Me" and you will like his lyrics in the song Beleive In Me and Man In The Meadow.

Besides Gilby Clarke's solo albums, Beleive In Me is the next best GN'R solo effort, much better than Slash's Snakepit......Eric Dover Uhhhhh..... he sucks!!!! rant

Yea,I didn't listen to any solo work from Duff. If you all say they're great,I believe you. But he is a far inferior songwriter than Axl or Izzy. "So fine" proves my point.

Some don't understand that Duff was brought up on Punk, and that it different to normal singing you would expect from Axl!
Right? I mean Duff, Axl, Izzy= great singers!
Different voices {of course!}
mainly because of who inspired them!
Duff is a punk singer! He has had several, several punk bands, thats why he sings on TSI a lot more than other albums!

I think his backing vocals are up to scratch on AFD, etc. too!

Ya's get that now?  Huh
