The world needs a Megadeth thread, that does not revolve around Metallica
Please don't go on about Metallica in this thread.

I've seen Megadeth w/ Exodus a couple of years ago. It was a killer show. My favorite memory from that show was Dave holding up his guitar at the end... the V shaped guitar by the ends in the air, How METAL is that?

Saw the band at Gigantour in Sydney 2 nights ago, Fuckin great show,Apart from waiting in line for over an hour, The set list was mainly predictable, Apart from them playing, Liar, Take no prisoners and the newy (gears of war?) , IMO this line up play the songs very well and Dave appears to still have the fire inside.
Dissapointment: because this was a festival, They only played for about 90 minutes, Therefore alot of staple Megadeth songs got left from the set, Reckoning day, Sweating bullets, They did not play anything off Youthanasia or TWNAH, Usually id expect them to play at least Return to Hangar after hangar 18
They also opened with Blackmail The universe like last time i saw them which is a great opener, Only other song from TSHF was Kick the chair which owned. Overall a good mix of old and new with a few little treats and a promise from Dave himself of a return to Aus for a proper tour when United Abominations comes out!!!
Anyone know where i can get a review and setlist? I was too drunk.

I was gonna go along to see Gigantour in Sydney, but the whole festival thing is what kept me from going too. I mainly wanted to see Megadeth, so it's good to hear that they'll be back fro a proper tour on their own.

Peace Sells is such a great song. Actually it's the only song I know by Megadeth and that's because of the mighty radio station of V-Rock in Vice City. Man Lazlow rules

Seriously
May be you had your radio tuned on the pop stations most of the time or to that hilarious talk show "Pressing Issues" With Maurice Chaves?

Get Rust in Peace and Killing is my Business...And Business is Good. Their other albums tend to be more commercial; avoid Countdown to Extinction and anything after it like the plague. Peace Sells but who's Buying and So Far So Good So What are for diehard fans, I guess, but they're not as great as the first and fourth albums.
But more than anything else, get Rust in Peace!

Isn't it strange that no-one bats an eyelid that Dave is the only original member, yet it's still called Megadeth. And for the same thing with GN'R, Axl is almost crucified for it.

People do bat an eye. It's just not as extreme because GNR had more than band members they had image and were known individually. Everyone knows Slash and a lot of people know Duff. Unless you're more than a casual fan you probably don't known any megadeth member, except maybe Dave.

Megadeth IS Dave Mustaine. It may be hard to understand but thats just the way it is.

Not to mention that Dave is the vocalist AND the guitarist. Can't say the same for Axl.
Now.. If Axl had started off SCOM with his guitar during the music video.. AND sang.. then maybe Slash leaving wouldn't have been that big a deal.
Also... does Megadeth play Psychotron at their concerts? Its probably the only song I like off of Countdown To Extinction.. would love to hear it live.
