Title: VR at the KROQ Weenie Roast
Post by: CDesigner on June 15, 2004, 03:21:07 AM
I live in Southern California, but not quite southern enough to get KROQ. Being that as it is, I was a bit surprised upon entering Irvine's Wild Rivers water park on Saturday with a group of jr. highers, to find that the KROQ Weenie Roast was going on the same day about 100 yards away in an amphitheatre that apparently shares the same parking lot. I really didn't know who was playing the Weenie Roast, and I managed to convince myself I was imagining that I was hearing bits & pieces of VR since I had just purchased CB the day before. Imagine my horror then, to find that VR had indeed played just a couple hundred feet from me as I sunburned myself on waterslides. Ah well, here's a picture I grabbed from KROQ's website for those of you who, like me, missed out on the Weenie Roast.

As for Velvet Revolver, enough has been said and written of the group that includes three former members of the 1980s super group Guns 'N Roses. Their two big hits, "Set Me Free" and "Slither," got an enthusiastic crowd response.

But something is still lacking in this fusion of Guns 'N Roses members with lead singer Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots. It remains to be seen if they have staying power, or last as briefly as Blind Faith.
