If I remember corectly (and I could be wrong) but didn't Aerosmiths GH albums and Permenet Vacation come out within a year of each other?

Maybe guns is just copying that idea?

Its something different and will be a big surprise

Its a stupid idea because it has nothing to do with the new lineup. If the company wants the public to starttaking htis band seriously it has to be with the new material. Otherwise they just dig themselves a deeper hole.

Release the Gh album down the road when this new lineup is done. Then we can have all the old classics and if there are new classics, them as well on 1 or 2 cds. Thats a lot better if you ask me

Seems like GNR....cough cough....have been pulling something for a few yrs now.

Yeh Im in a sarcastic mood GNR wise today, but ya notice even the former AXL lovers seem to sound like the 'haters' that they attacked a yr or so ago....I think we are sick of this BS...

A real band hang out together, and write music then record it then tour on it.

This band seem like the fucking spice girls under the control of an obsessive meglomaniac with a point to prove....just he cant prove his point. So either he puts up and shows his hand or he fucking apologises to the old band, cos 10 yrs from now are we all gonna be here saying that Axl was right in moving the band forward?Huh

I was on his side.

Not anymore.

Yawn.

i seem to remember readin several interviews with tommy last year about the creative process the new band has undergone to write songs and he went to great length to emphasise the point that they all get together and each one gets their own input.

But you ignored that and made up your mind based on, well, nothing.

If it was still the origional lineup then this would be a good idea, but the record company should be trying to promote the new band, and so if they are going to release anything it should be a live dvd from the last tour but that ain't gunna happen.

Well every day seems that the Greatest Hits in coming today a cover has been seen its a nice cover and good art work but I still think that we will see Chinese Democracy soon maybe its just the record company wants to make more money this year with both albums because they will pull in the money.

But if the greatest hits does come out will you be going to your nearest music store to buy it? Or like some one said on this board a couple of days maybe its a Chinese Democracy cover up which is a really cool idea.

That doesn't make any sense. Geffen released permanent vacation in 1987, and Columbia (their former label at the time) released GEMS in 1988 I believe.
Regardless, it was two separate record labels doing two separate things.
Things should be far more organized in the GnR camp right now than they actually are. It sucks.

Maybe the greatest hits will be the end of an old chapter and the beginning of a new one??

Oh Right. Well there must be some sort of strategy here. Such an album will remind MANY people of what GNR were all about.

But what I dont understand is why would they want to remind people of Slash Matt Duff etc?? If they see Slash in the artwork of the album and the next minute (when CD is released)the whole look of the band is completely changed.

Why remind people of the old GNR.Huh

Honestly, I think this is the end of GNR as we know it.  Look at were most bands go after releasing a GH album.  GH's are for bands with no where to go.  Plus, if this tracklisting is true, it has FIVE cover songs.   I'm affraid that the end is near.  The fat lady is warmning up and I got a fork in my hand.

What I dont understand about this greatest hits CD is that Enstranged is not on it.  That was better hit then a lot of the songs on there.
