Black Sabbath released there latest "13" with both regular and the deluxe edition. The deluxe had 3 extra songs. Maybe something like that would be cool.

Oh yeah... that would be sick

Especially if the extra songs included an updated Oh My God or a recorded version of The Seeker ..something that the internet fans would really appreciate.

You probably have the two in reverse right there....

Probably not even.

Are there even 3 songs from this line-up in the magical mystery vault?  Not based on anything we've heard.

Nobody really knows. If there are...I would think it's bits n pieces of different things put together by Axl and Chris in the studio.

I've said it before, unless they've been doing some top-secret ninja recording, I will be shocked if there is more than 1 or 2 tracks written and recorded solely by the current lineup on the next album.

So without dwelling on the name issue, in this thread at least, let's talk about something on topic.

How many would buy the album in multiple formats if it was made available that way? Meaning buy a CD, buying the vinyl and maybe even digital release.
Or do you buy one copy only?

What do you think of deluxe editions? Would you buy one if it was offered? Why, why not?

/jarmo

I would probably buy all the physical editions GnR put out there, just to be a completionist in my collection....and make my own "digital version" UNLESS the official digital version had tracks I couldn't get any other way.

That's not typical of my purchasing habits with most artists, though.  I typically buy the deluxe version (physical, usually) ONLY if they have extra tracks.  If there is no physical deluxe version....I'll buy the digital deluxe and can the physical album, usually.  There are exceptions, though, where I'll buy both.

The packaging is LESS important to me, usually, though.  It has to be something really special, with artists other than GnR, to get me to buy it JUST for that (think Pink Floyd's The Division 20th Anniversary Edition).

I guess I'm naive enough to think that hardcore fans would want the best version available. Even if it "only" meant nicer packaging....

I think there are enough hard core fans out there to produce a small quantity of deluxe versions (even if it's the same track list).  However, I would definitely buy a deluxe version if it had a couple extra songs on it (weather it be really old songs in the vault, B sides, or just remixes of a couple older songs).

My preference would be a triple gatefold double vinyl with download voucher.

I would definitely buy the deluxe version.  But I wouldn't buy the same thing with an alternate cover only.

Yes, you are.

I admit. I thought fans wanted the best. Whatever was the nicest issue. And wouldn't think twice about spending a few dollars extra for a nice package.

The whole "we want a new album" thing. You pretty much want the mp3 files on your iPod. Just like Average Joe. So what differs between these fans and average fans? Nothing, in this case.

But I guess there's us and them among the so called hardcore fans regarding this issue as well.
Surprise!

And I really have no problem with not being lumped together with the likes of yourself by the way. Cheesy

How about:

1) Standard CD
2) Delux version CD with upgraded packaging and alternate artwork
3) Digital download with a second alternate artwork and 2 extra tracks un available via first two options

Yup. Notice i said " for guns...i would buy all physical editions." Wink Regular and deluxe. Cd and vinyl ( and 8 track, or cassette, or blu ray, or whatever).

Only with other artists do i apply a higher benchmark for "packaging upgrades" to compel my purchases.
