This is my first post on here so please be gentle with me.? ;D

I am from the UK....? and am considering flying out for the Tampa Gig? :o? We have looked into flights (kinda expensive but hey) ... We were just wondering how far The St Pete Forum Times is from Tampa Airport?

Will it mean an expensive Taxi Ride?? If so any ideas how much?? Can we get a bus? And anybody know of any cheap accomodation that's nearby?

We have seen GnR 3 times already this year whilst in the UK... it's my Sisters 30th at the end of September and I thought this would be a great gift (something to remember)

Any tips and comments would be appreciated XxX

St. Pete Times Forum is very close to the Tampa Airport.  Maybe a 15 min drive.  I would say about $25 cab ride or so.  Channelside is walking distance from the Forum as well.  So plenty of bars / clubs to party at after the concert.  There is a hotel "Marriott Waterside" next to the Forum ($260 USD a night).   I hope that helps.

$260 a night?? hmmm? thats kinda more than I wanted to pay, plus we will be there for 4 nights... Flights are coming out at approx ?550.00 GBP per person? :o Plus the price of the tickets... Maybe we could sleep on the street like a couple of urchins!!!!

Anybody else want to make a sugestion?

Look around the surrounding areas like Brandon. Might be a bit further to the venue but the hotels will be cheaper.

I'll be making the short drive from Tarpon Springs to this one!! Should be a great show, let's hope they fill it up!! Lots of HEAVY radio promotion here. 102.5 is giving away tickets, playing ads, and playing Gn'R just about every hour!!

I've been a fan for 15 years and have never seen them live until this year! Now I'll have May 14th in new York, and Tampa and Estero all in one year. It's a good year to be a Gn'R fan right??

Have Fun!!

What a crock!!!!!!
Did anyone else get floor tickets the morning of the presale?
Because they have changed the floor seating... it's all gen admin now. I feel bad if anyone had kick ass seats . I was stoked I had tenth row. Now I got tot fight and push my way to the front. : ok:

What's crazy is A_holes are selling their tickets they obviously got through the pre-sale on ebay for like $800. The dumb people that buy them will have no idea they have changed it to gen admin

When I first put in "best available" I got GA tickets. Which I found very confusing. Then I put in for seats and got 7 tickets with assigned seating. I don't believe they would change it after selling seats like this. Maybe there is some sort of glich with TM?

edit: I checked and it looks like they changed it. Those stupid mother fuckers. I bought 7 tickets for friends and told them 11th row center. Now I'm going to look like a dumbass. None of them are going to want to pay that for GA. TM sucks my ass!

Next day Edit:

Venue and TM now confirm this. A big FUCK YOU out to TM on this one. What a bunch of losers. So far all my party is cool with GA, but I feel like an idiot for bragging to them about the "seats" I got.
Scalpers are shit outa luck too, hahaha

This shit is gonna be sick. The only time I've ever really got to see Axl was when i was 9 in St.Louis at Riverport when the riot broke out. Not a very good show for a little kid too be at but at least I got too see them play for a little bit. Ive been waiting 15 years to see them again so its about fuckin time they start playing again. Oh and if you're looking for after parties they are many cools places around downtown tampa and ybor city. I'll probably end up at reservoir bar in ybor city. The best bar around in my opinion...cheap drinks, fun people and good rock music all the time.

Heard the rumors for awhile but was hoping the band wouldn't screw all the people who got up early, raced to the computer and tried to get the best seats possible (kind of like the old days when you'd camp out.). I guess this is good for people who had the floor seats in the back. I'm pissed because I was pretty damn close and now it's going to be a fucking struggle, beers spilled, whine, whine, etc.

Anyway here's the note I got this morning. As a side, does this mean if I don't responds, then they'll automatically send me my floor GA tickets?

Hello, this is Ticketmaster Customer Service with an important alert for your order for the Wednesday, October 25, 2006 performance of Guns N' Roses scheduled at the St Pete Times Forum. Unfortunately, due to changes associated with production, floor seating is now general admission.

Due to this change in seating we would like to give you the opportunity to exchange your floor reserved seat for a club reserved seat in the arena, or exchange your tickets for general admission tickets on the floor, or obtain a full refund, minus any ticketFast or UPS delivery fees. There will be no seating available on the floor.

In order to take advantage of this offer, you must reply to this email NO LATER THAN deadline Friday, OCTOBER 20, 2006, by 12 NOON EASTERN TIME and include your daytime telephone number and Ticketmaster order confirmation number in order for a customer service representative to contact you.

If you do not contact us and/or we are not able to reach you by telephone on or before Friday, October 20, 2006, by 12 NOON EASTERN TIME, then we will send you new tickets that will be valid for general admission (standing room only) for the Guns N' Roses concert at St Pete Times Forum on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 7:30pm.  Please note, every ticket has a unique bar code and that of your original tickets will be invalidated and not be valid for entry.  If you request reserved seating or general admission (standing room only) tickets, Ticketmaster will be sending you new tickets with a new barcode which will grant you entry into the event.

We regret that we were not able to provide you with the seating you ordered. We really appreciate your business and hope you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future.

Ticketmaster Customer Service

Maybe Axl likes the vibe from the crowd better when they are GA rather than when they are sitting in seats. If I remember correctly most of the 2002 shows were reserved seating, maybe with the band playing all the festivals and little arenas, Axl has come to liking the energy better from a GA audience rather than a reserved seating audience.

Since we're speculating, here are 3 thoughts.

1. Maybe Robin wants to go crowd surfing every night? (That'd be almost impossible to do with seats.)

2. Maybe they want to film each show? (People crowded together looks better on film than separated by seats.)

3. Maybe the band found out that there were a bunch of fat, ugly guys with seats up front?

why do they say "unfortunatley"? every concert should be GA...GA is so much better, unless you were in the front row to begin with..but if you were in row 2 and back GA is definatley better

Seats are crap - standing is so much better this is the best news for anyone going.

Even if you had a "great seat" then people would get up and run to the stage (and be in front of you) anyway.
Happened when I saw Bowie in Manchester a few years ago.  Standing is key, and if you're moaning about beers being spilt etc... you can either stand at the back or go and what elton john.

The only show that I knew of that got screwed up with seating was Jacksonville.

Naw, the spilt beer comment was what's going to happen as I make my way through the crowd. I agree the standing is better than sitting, but I had some kick ass seats. I never planned to actually sit in them, but, for the most part, security will keep everyone in the vicinity of the seats they purchased, so I'd be standing and pretty damn close. Now it's going to be a pain in the ass. I was at Hammerstein and we made our way right to the front, but after the beer is gone or you got to take a piss, it sucks to have to push your way through all over again.

I know what you mean, but you've just gotta carry as many beers as you can down to the front (getting pissed before is best idea) and try and hold on pissing til after the show or piss yourself!  :)

Mind you KOHD is there so people can go to the toilet and not miss anything, plus the crowd won't be jumping about when you need to push back to the front!

GA is better - the crowd can move, instead of being in one small 14x14" box like a movie theatre. Besides, if you're sitting at a GNR show - YOU SHOULDN'T BE!

Leaving today for vacation so I won't be on again till after the Tampa concert.  To all the Tampa Bay fans from the board going look for us in seats 15 and 14 Section 102 Row A (front row baby!!!!)  I'll be the guy smiling like the Joker!  I can't freakin' wait.  It's been 14 long years since I saw these guys in Orlando with Metallica and Faith No More.  Should be an awesome time.  After the show join us at one of Tampa Bays finest dance (lol) clubs 2001!

The change to GA really sucks for me... I had 7th row! I am 5 feet tall!! I was SO fucking happy to have good seats where I would be able to see and not be pushed around and have some 7 foot tall a**hole in front of me. I've been waiting for 15 years for this show (it'll be my first GNR show... I never got to see the original line-up) and now I've lost my great great seat. I know my chances of getting up to the front are slim to none but I will be wishing and hoping all day that I'll get that lucky.

Don't despair, Khalista, I'm only 5 ft as well and after getting crushed agains the barrier in '91 at Wembley Stadium vowed never to be in that place again.? But, at Wembly this year (admittedly the arena, which isn't anywhere near as large as the stadium), I found myself a place on the front barrier at the side (just to the right of Robin) and it was okay.? There's always pushing and shoving but not the mania that occurs in the centre.? If possible, chat to those around you before the band come on, especially if there is a tall, beefy looking guy who can keep the worst of the shoving away from you, because people are less inclined to push someone they've been chatting with earlier.? : ok:

Most of all though, just get yourself a place where you feel comfortable and can enjoy yourself and I guarantee you'll have one the of the best nights of your life!? ;D

The review from the Tampa Tribune:

Wee Hours For Paradise City
Skip directly to the full story.
By CURTIS ROSS The Tampa Tribune

Published: Oct 26, 2006

TAMPA - A concert review isn't really the place for a lecture on tardiness but good grief. Guns n' Roses' set didn't start until almost midnight Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Is singer Axl Rose that unfamiliar with the real world that he isn't hip to the whole job-responsibility-up before noon lifestyle? Or does someone need to point out that even the pre-teens who bought "Appetite for Destruction" in 1987 are now in their 30s? Whatever. If you can get past the time element, the show was about as good as one might have hoped and at times considerably better.

The two-hour plus set relied heavily on songs from "Appetite ? " and it's likely few in the crowd of 10,522 would have complained about that.

Few seemed bothered by the fact that Rose is the only member of the "Appetite ? " lineup currently in the band. That took away some of the potential excitement since the old Guns was a band of loose cannons. Now it's one loose cannon and eight hired guns.

Excellent hired guns, mind you. Most of them got solo spots which gave Rose a chance to catch his breath, change his shirt and do whatever else he needed to away from the spotlight.

Rose remains a natural front man, sprinting around the stage, baying and howling and expressing all the rage and fear that made the band so intriguing when it appeared 20 years ago.

His voice, though, was erratic, mostly strong and true but occasionally pinched and thin. In contrast to his old rabble-rousing image, Rose was unfailingly polite between songs, telling the crowd it was "very, very nice to be here" moments after telling them they were in the jungle, baby.

Such is the dichotomy of Axl Rose: charming and possibly insane.

The band was almost too reverent in its treatment of the older material, replicating each solo and fill with a classicist's touch. Only on "Out ta Get Me" did the players make the song their own, and that one left the "Appetite ? " version in the dust.

However, new material, from the oft-delayed "Chinese Democracy" album, sounded vibrant and raised hopes that the disc may one day actually be released.

In the end, despite any longing to see the original lineup back together, Rose established his new Guns as a vital, exciting force and threatened to once again inject some excitement into a stale mainstream rock scene. If only he could do it a couple of hours earlier.

Thanks for posting that review, kyrie; I hadn't seen it before. ?I could take issue with a few points mentioned; 'tardiness' for example, *yawn* not that old chestnut - it's not only youngsters who can burn the candle at both ends. ?Nevertheless, overall it was positive and an enjoyable read. ?I think Axl would greet the description of himself with a wry smile. ?;D

lol well playing that late, you gotta expect some people to bail :P The attendence according to the newspaper was 10,500 or so, so these Florida shows did pretty good (two shows with 10,000+ so far) but we'll see about the other two. I really do think 4 FL shows is too much though, you're just drawing people away from the other ones.

No offense, but have you heard the band play Out Ta Get Me this year???  The song kicks ass live.  It was one of the best songs of the night at Hammerstein, May 12th.  I hope you get a chance to see them live.    :peace:

Out Ta Get Me is a classic, and it sounded amazing last night.

I heard a review on the radio saying that Papa Roach stole the show..
..are you fucking kidding me? HAHAHAHHAA.

I could watch Axl and the guys sing all fucking day long.
After that show last night my life is complete.

Plus, Bumblefoot kissed me on the cheek.

Sigh.

What an amazing experience last night. Easily the best performance I've seen by this band and for Axl with either line-up. Credit to Baz for working up the crowd with a great opening set. Strolled off with Mr & Mrs SLC during Papa Roach though. Returned to our seats around 11:00 figuring things would be getting going soon. Wrong.

Skip ahead 1 hour and things finally get started, coincidentally enough the lights dimmed within 20 seconds of the crowd finally having enough and starting to boo. It became pretty obvious very quickly that this was going to be Robins night.

This being the 6th time seeing the band so far this year, I was pretty sure I had Axls routines down, so I spent most of the night watching the rest of the band. Robin was aesome, acually spent most of the night playing while stretched out on the floor. Might not have been entertaining to those o the floor but was great to those elevated enough to view it. This actually led to the funniest moment of the night. Robin is sprwled out on the stage during the moving the piano jam before November Rain. Axl comes out on stage, sees Robin and proceeds to simulate kicking the shit out of him L.A.P.D. style. Axl spent most of the night with a grin on his face as there were quite a few amusing moments between him and Robin, Richard, and Tommy.

Enough of the Tommy isn't happy crap. He was interacting with everyone and if you watched closely had some type of physical response to anything going on around him. He seemed to particularly enjoy pretending to play a traffic cop with everyone running all over the place. Tommy was having a blast and there were quite a few times Axl would walk by him and say something that had Tommy cracking up.

Ron has been a revelation the first two shows. I am an self confessed Buckethead lover from long before his GnR days. However after watching Ron and his more pronounced role in the band these two shows, I no longer miss the Bucket. Ron was just tearing it up. He definitely seems to be more comfortable in the band than he did during the NY shows.

Richard was also great. He is definitely becoming someone who demands your attention when he is on stage. I found it particularly interesting that he opened his solo with a Buckethead style solo very similar to Big Sur Moon, and pulled it off quite well. Frank managed to make himself stand out more than Brain did, in my opinion and for some reason I find myself wanting Frank to be a permanent addition to this band.

The highlite of the evening didnt even happen to me but I couldnt have been happier for the person, no matter how many times I cursed him out in the text messages that immediately followed. SLC had seats right along the right corner of the stage. During "Out Ta Get Me" Axl ran right in front of SLC and was belting out the song. SLC reached his hand out and Axl promptly grabbed it with an agressive shake and pump similar to the fan that shook his hand during the VMA's in 2002. Luckily Mrs. SLC had the presence of mind to snap off a picture because I sure as hell didnt.

This band is just totally clicking right now. Did I want to hear some new songs? You bet your ass I did, but I left the building last night knowing that there was no other place in the world that I would have rather of been that night.

Good Fucking Night

Here's some pics I took at last nights show. ?We had a fucking blast! ?Bach was great, Papa Roach kicked ass and Guns n Roses were amazing. ?I was a little pissed by how late they came on though... Holy shit midnight!!! ?People were really starting to turn and boo about the time they came on. ?Glad I didn't have GA and wasn't standing all night. Last night was one of the best nights of my life and hopefully I won't have to wait 14 years to see them again (last time was in 1992 in Orlando with Metallica and Faith No More; had tickets in 2002 but tour was cancelled 4 days before they were to play Tampa) ?Anyways great night and the show was amazing. ?Axl's voice sounded as good as I ever heard it before and the band was very tight. ?(Amazing guitar solos) ?Hopefully somebody recorded this show.

Security was tight but I was able to sneak my digital camera in. ?Long story short I was in line to enter the arena (first mind you) and at 7:30 security said after already standing in line for an hour that any cameras need to be brought back to your car or your won't get in. ?My gf begins to open her mouth about me having a camera and how we walked from our hotel like a mile away and the guard wasn't hearing any of it he insisted I couldn't get in if I had it but what I could do was leave it with the Ice Palace security and pick it up after the show. ?So I did just that but right before Papa Roach came on I looked at the ticket the secuirty gave me and it said not responsible if lost or stole or damaged.... so right away I was like fuck they can steal my camera and won't be liable so I left the arena told security I just got married (I didn't) and that on my camera was my weddening pics and I couldn't enjoy myself if I didn't at least get the memory stick out of my camera incase it was lost or stole. ?After pleading my case for a min or two she let me leave the outside holding area and go get my memory stick... I walked up to the lady who was holding my camera and said I'm leaving I'd like my camera back and she gave it to me.. I took the memory stick out, place my camera in my pocket, walked back towards the arena, flashed my memory stick at the guard who let me leave and said 'thank you your a life saver', walked back in the building put the memory stick in my camera and took some pics.... hee hee so thats my story and here's the pics. ?

Pretty good review, but not entirely accurate.

I heard Axl fine on Jungle. He didn't do the opening scream, but he still kicked ass, and his voice was on all night.

This will make the story even funnier. By 8:15 or so, they werent even doing a real check. I was 10 feet from the security guard when he wave the metal detector and said "Go ahead". Hell, my ticketfast from Ticketmaster wouldnt scan but the lady at the gate was just like "Ahh, go ahead"

yeah as the night went on they started to get relaxed with the checking of people.  I walked on the floor during Chinese Democracy cause I knew it was that song then PC so I figured I would risk getting thrown out and nobody said anything to us.  That's why the pics from the last song are closer to the stage it's cause I sneaked up close  :peace:

Where do these guys get their research material from?!?!

Thanks for all the pics and reviews man! I am so ****in excited to see this show! I felt like I was there with you guys when you're describing the action. Best way to get a camera in is to stick it in your crotch. Most security ain't gonna feel down there unless they want a lawsuit slapped on them. For the ladies - under your boobs in your bra - if they pat down they will pat the top of your chest and any further feels would again be grounds for harassment. Always works for my OH.

Yeah totally I snuck three little bottles of scotch in in my bra....hell if im paying seven dollars for a beer. LOL Any way I was wonderin where Axl was so I went out to the back and asked the guard where he was. Said he was an hr late already. Finally he got a call said he was at the airpor he would be there in 15 mins. So i stood there till his black SUV pulled in. While I was waiting Sabastian walked out of the back door all non-chalantly and all i could do was stand there and giggle. He went over to hi bike and threw his jacket on the gound and tied up his hair. Stood there by himself for like five minutes before he left. Also I asked the security guard where Bumblefoot was cause I know he hung out out back in New York. Guard said he was out on his bicycle...lol well I got to go Rock On
