Now, now, play nice.  Yeah a tour would be nice.  The album would be nicer.  Let's focus on that first and foremost.  Although IF the record company really is gonna hold up the release someone's gonna have to figure out some way to release the beast.

Some high profile gigs to get the most mileage would be a smart move. Something nationally televised to remind people GNR is still active and to erase the 02 VMA performance ( that was the last time GNR did something on TV in the US.)

I just read that Metallica is delaying their album till sept so could we see say a May June release for CD and Metallica in sept 2008 could be the year Rock Returned.  Geffen should put this out before Metallica releases in sept or dare I say it could steal Chinese Democracy's number Huh? or better yet have a Guns n Roses Metallica Tour.

Release GN'R and Metallica Within a month or two of each other, just like in '91 with UYI and  The Black Album. That would really be awsome!

Whenever the album comes out I think I'm going to have a heart attack. Seeing the cover and tracklist would be enough to give me shortness of breath and make my arm tense up.  Tongue

I'd be cheaper to get a video done by their own staff and release through myspace and facebook for exposure. If it is a huge success, the record company will have no choice but to follow with a proper release unless they want to be seen as proper behind the wagon cretins.

As of my last post I would also use 5 diffrent ways for exposure of the album in 2008.

1. MTV- Video only maybe a special
2. Myspace
3. Offical Website
4. I Tunes
5. Appearances

Music Video wise I would suggest a setting of introducing the new members with a break up story to the song  Better.   Have the video start off with Axl breaking up with stephanie and then the break up of the band and then have Axl doing a live performance with cut scenes of him having trouble with the girl and band and saying should of known better ( hint the songs lyrics) I think it would be a great idea for a video.  Then have the band playing in an empty room maybe like their rehearsing the song type of atomosphere and just have shots of Axl, Tommy, Chris, Richard, Robin, Frank, BBF, Dizzy the whole band playing the song.

PUT ME IN CHARGE OF THE PROJECT !!!! PLEASE GEFFEN !!! HA HA ok im done for the night.

someone give me some of whatever he's on?

but in reality, for promotion (I know I'm just a fan, but hey, I think our opinions count)...

Like the previous poster said, MySpace and Offical Site should be big. Lots of promotion on MySpace, front page banners and promotion out the ass on there. Revamp the official site and have news weekly, specials on there like tour dates *cough cough, for 08 *cough*. Then some articles and band info and crap, stuff official sites should have.

Appearances galore. Leno, Letterman, Kimmel, etc. All the talk shows and stuff. Play the MTV VMA's again, I don't care. I'd just love to see GNR out there again in the full public view for everyone again, back on top of rock.

i still stand by my statement in another thread that if they changed the skin on the login page of myspace and facebook, they would reach just about everyone in high school and facebook about the release. but whatever, i hate to be pessimistic but mainstream rock's too soft nowadays; i don't see CD selling as well as we all expect it to.

Call it selling out or whatever but I think a GNR iTunes commercial would be hotness.

I don't think that the band just took the 2nd half of the year off last year for the fun of it. I'm sure the goal was to get it released before Christmas.

So it'd only make sense that next time they tour it's in support of the album.

With the rumours of a 08 Release, why don't the guys crack on with a World Tour, i know its not as simple as that but the last two years, the guys have toured and maybe a mammoth tour this year could gather momentum for a 08 release, at the end of the Year. ?

I agree, especially if the wheels are really in motion.

Honestly, I'd go see this band album or not. Before others quote my post and tell me who stupid I am, I'm well aware that many people feel differently.

"Why do they keep playing the same setlist?" "Why haven't they played any more new songs?" "Why won't Axl tell us what's going on from the stage?" Blah, blah, blah.

I've heard it all a million times and none of it changes the fact that this is my favorite band and I'd love to see them live again under any circumstances.

I'd love for the album to be on the way just as much as everyone else but even if it's not, I'd take a GNR show anyday.

agreed 100%.

I remember when everyone was bitching about all the setlists last year and stuff, why don't you add this and drop this, I admit that I was one of them, but I realized soon thereafter, that the setlist is great anyway. it's my favorite band, as russtcb said. I couldn't care what htey play. If they added a few songs (Civil War, TWAT, etc.) it WOULD be a nice change of pace, but I'll have to deal with this for now, which I'm absolutely okay with  ok

Yeah! And Metallica will be at RIR Lisboa, it would be even cooler if they played at the same festival too.  To promote their albums you know. Cheesy

I don't like the idea of a full blown tour, unless they plan to not release CD this year. In that case a tour would certainly be better than nothing at all. But let's hope they plan to release it.  Wink

No, not necessarily.

Maybe it would be a "terrible" idea for you personally and some others. But sometimes you have to see it from another angle.

For example, the 2007 tour. It wasn't a terrible idea for all the fans in those countries who had waited years to see GN'R.

And the band played better than ever.

Probably just sit back, take it easy, play a couple of gigs with side projects. Bumblefoot will release another side project album. Dizzy will play a bunch of gigs with Hookers-n-Blow.
Fix the damage to Axl's house. Spend some time drinking, and surfing the Internet ...

and if they decide the time is right, RELEASE THE ALBUM AND LAUNCH A WORLD TOUR THAT WILL OWN OUR WEAK ASSES!

Here again I'd like the ask that no one make a ridiculous post about how I'm kissing Jarmo's ass with the following post:

I have to agree. First of all, on the "countries who haven't seen" them portion. What better way to introduce the newer members, songs and how strong the band is then by taking them all over the world?

Also on the subject of the band playing "better then ever". It's no secret that I was extremely skeptical of this whole "new" GNR thing back in 02. I wouldn't even watch RIO III or listen to the HoB gig because I was so bitter about it.

Then when they played the VMAs I was at least more interested. So when they came to Detroit that year, I checked it out. I was BLOWN AWAY by Robin and Richard and could've done w/o Bucket.

So again, when 06 came about I was even more excited to check them out again. I drove all the way NYC to see them and caught them when they were here later that year. I'm SO glad they did those shows. First and foremost because I was WAY more impressed with Axl then ever vocally and because Robin, Richard and now Ron were mindblowing on both the old and new material.

If they hadn't done those shows, I'd still be wondering. On top of that, I'd have missed the single best Guns N' Roses show I've ever seen hands down (Hammerstein, first night). I've seen GNR a totally of 7 times if memory serves me right and the single best show I've ever seen came about because of 06 shows.

LOL. I had a few long drinks and started writing something, and then realized I could get banned for what I was about to say. So I'm just gonna say it like Axl would: IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT WHY DID YOU COME? Have you no self control at all? Just stop reading. It's your choice!

I'd love for GNR to get back on tour, but at this point I think they've covered the world on tour, based on "Hey, were still here, come out and hear Axl sing the classics, and oh yeah, check out these new songs, more to come".

I think we need official confirmation of imminent release of the album, not just a release date, but a official recording of a new song. Not necessarily as an 'official single', even just a streaming download on the GNR website kind of like "exclusive brand new GNR song from the forthcoming album" (which i guess should probably be "Better" or "Madagascar" since most people are familiar with those songs) Then they should release some sort of a documentary or an EPK (i think thats what they call it) on their website, which is kind of a press kit with interview clips of the band, and clips of studio versions of new tracks, and then they can go on a tour, and whatever other promotional/marketing leading to the release of a single (iTunes exclusive or whatever) and then the album

You know, even putting a single up on iTunes would allow some $$$ to start being generated for the album, as well as to build interest for the (eventual release).  However, if the problem is allegedly that no label wants to take the financial risks associated with the album, then nothing can happen until that particular (and substantial) stalemate ends, correct?  Sheesh.

Same thread diff. name.  I think all GN'R websites should shut down until cd comes out.

LOL. I had a few long drinks and started writing something, and then realized I could get banned for what I was about to say. So I'm just gonna say it like Axl would: IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT WHY DID YOU COME? Have you no self control at all? Just stop reading. It's your choice!

Now I'm not trying to start anything, and I don't believe this will happen, but Keith Roth (DJ on Sirius) just gave his thoughts on GNR for '08.  Now again, he has no inside knowledge or anything, don't wanna freak anyone out.  He feels that the breakup of Velvet Revolver/STP reunion will happen.  Chinese Democracy will "hit plastic" (whatever that means) in the summer.  And the old band will reunite and play sold out stadium shows.  Personally, I don't see why Axl would release an album with the band he's been working with the last few years, then just revert back to the old lineup.  Doesn't make any sense to me.  Don't know if the DJ truly believes it either.  Most likely just trying to fill up airtime.

Wasn't there some kind of info that hinted at a South America tour in the latter half of 2008?

Sounds like a joke to me, or maybe he has no clue of what he's talking about.  no

Well I can see where he's coming from...

1. Scott Weiland has said in the Miami Herald that the STP reunion will happen and an announcement will be made within the next few months - probably after the Velvet Revolver upcoming European tour. That means, at least temporarily, that VR will be put on hold.

2. Slash has said he is going to work on a solo album amongst other things over the next year or so.

3. Brain has rejoined Buckethead.

4. Frank Ferrer and Richard Fortus have rejoined Pisser and have announced a few shows.

5. Bumblefoot is back in the studio working on his new solo album due for release 2008.

6. Dizzy's been back for a few shows with Hookers N Blow.

So where does that leave us? Well it means that the majority of the current members of GnR are going off doing their own things, while VR is coming to an end leaving the majority of old GnR with nothing going on and everything falls into place nicely for a reunion!

That said... I don't believe it will happen.

Ever.

I think the members on new GNR will always do projects on the side, Weiland will probably go back to VR eventually (STP has imploded several times before)-I think none of these things have any impact on original GNR reuniting

And what else is there to do as a musician, if there's no tour at the moment and the recording for CD is done? It doesn't mean they can't do some gigs etc to promote the album if it's out this year.

BTW, don't you guys think Bumblefoot should release his solo album after CD? It'd do much better in my opinion, people would be much more aware of it, if you know what I mean...
And don't be a smart ass and say that he wants it out before 2050.  Tongue
