In 1989, GN'R opened for the Stones on their Steel Wheels tour. In 2006, if you recall, Guns were slated to open for the Stones again for a few dates on their A Bigger Bang tour, but then Keith's head got injured and the dates GN'R were supposed to open for them were cancelled. If GN'R is truly reunited, wouldn't it be cool if GN'R opened for the Stones at some point, since it seems like they're going to continue touring til they drop? Two of the greatest rock bands ever at one event.

Are you nuts?

Why would I be? Axl was fine with opening for them in 2006 until Keith's injury got in the way. If he hadn't agreed to it in 2006 I'd see your point but the Stones are one band that, no matter how big the other band is, they're opening for them. Plus, it would be an amazing show. Axl and the guys followed by Mick and the lads? I'd pay a grand to see that.

2006 wasn't potentially the biggest payday of Axl's career. This is and I don't quite see what would be in it for him to take a significant cut in payment to play second banana to someone else just to play at the same venues that a GnR reunion will happily fill on its own. It's ludicrous.

Yes, there isint one band in the world that is too big to open for the Stones.

It would be a epic show in any case because the Stones are there.

If the AFD 5 are reuniting (i doubt it) i bet they couldnt pull a 2hours+ show anyway.

Lest we forget, the Stones have released TWO albums of original material in the last 20 years. Agreed, doff your cap in respect, Axl.  Wink

Previous version of Gn'r of past decade - Yes

This version ..no

This wouldn't fit at all... different styles, different fanbase... GNR too big for opening up for anyone IMO.

yes. absolutely. anytime you get a chance to open for the Stones, you take it. i believe Axl said something like that in the past (i.e. if Mick asks you to do something, you do it). the buzz generated from a show like that would be incredible and would only further add to the success of a reunited GnR.

having said that, I wouldn't want to see a full tour where they are opening. they certainly do not need it. but after they play a few shows, maybe even a full leg of a tour, opening some shows for the stones would be incredible. they could do multiple nights at stadiums in some major markets. a handful of shows at Met Life or in LA would be sweet. two of the greatest bands of all time.
