Title: A stripped down Chinese Democracy?
Post by: CherryGarcia on November 07, 2015, 03:27:47 PM
I know people talk of remixes and the like but does anyone else wish we could could get a 'stripped down' Chinese Democracy? By which I mean, just a version of CD with the following lineup:

Axl
Robin
Paul
Tommy
Josh Freese
Dizzy
Chris

This was the lineup that first recorded most of the songs on CD. I'd really love to hear the songs as performed by the above lineup, and perhaps even the Sean Beaven mix of the record (which was from this 1998-2000 era of the band), engineered by Critter and Youth.

Would anyone else go nuts for this? This version of the band represents Axl's vision more than any other lineup (IMO). It's his handpicked original new Guns players rather than any replacements; it represents his unsullied, perhaps more experimental vision before Roy Thomas Baker and the label got involved.

I think a tracklist for a version of CD from this period would've included?:

Oh My God
Chinese Democracy
Rhiad
Catcher in the Rye
I.R.S.
T.W.A.T.
Madagascar
The Blues

In terms of songs we know were at least recorded before 2000?

No, I'd want Buckethead.

I think he was one of the best things about the album.
