TRENT REZNOR Says NINE INCH NAILS Is 'Not Dead' - May 7, 2010

According to The Pulse of Radio, Trent Reznor says that NINE INCH NAILS is "not dead" even though he is focusing for the moment on HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS, the new act he has assembled with his wife, singer Mariqueen Maandig, and frequent collaborator Atticus Ross. Reznor answered selected fan questions at the HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS page on Facebook, saying about NINE INCH NAILS, "I am about to work on some material that I believe will be quite different than previous NIN very soon."

He added that HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS "frees me from some of the constraints I've begun to feel (primarily emotionally) in NIN," revealing that the band's upcoming six-song EP will come out in both digital and physical form this summer.

From Trent Rezor:

7.1.10: The Social Network score

I was planning on taking some time off after the continual waves of touring that ended last fall and spend this year experimenting around with what would become How To Destroy Angels and some new NIN. Well, that plan didn't work out so well. David Fincher started inquiring about my interest in scoring his upcoming film, The Social Network. Yeah, the movie about the founding of Facebook. I've always loved David's work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story. When I actually read the script and realized what he was up to, I said goodbye to that free time I had planned. Atticus Ross and I have been on a creative roll so I asked him if he wanted to work on this with me and we signed on.

Months later, I'm happy to tell you we're nearing the completion of this and I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. The level of excellence that David operates on is inspiring and the entire process has been challenging and truly enjoyable.

As Atticus and I near the end of the scoring process, we're looking forward to the next phase - distilling the large amount of music we've written for this down to a satisfying record (or two). The film opens Oct 1 in the US with the record likely available a couple of weeks ahead of that.

Speaking of the film... it's really fucking good. And dark!

10.22.10: Pretty Hate Machine Re-Issue

I?m happy to finally announce the re-issue of the first Nine Inch Nails record ?Pretty Hate Machine,? releasing worldwide 11/22. UMe and Bicycle Music Group managed to locate the original mixes, so I went in the studio with Tom Baker and remastered it for a greatly improved sonic experience. In addition, Rob reinterpreted Gary Talpas? original cover to make for a fresh new package.

It?s been an interesting trip watching the fate of this record float from one set of hands to another (a long and depressing story) but it?s finally wound up in friendly territory, allowing us to polish it up a bit and present it to you now. We had fun revisiting this old friend, hope you enjoy.

I wonder if NIN will start up again anytime in the future.

It sure would be cool to see Robin in a live concert setting again, please God if it can't be with GN'R, at least with NIN.  yes

Well, im a happy NIN fan atm.

Basically, if you search back real far (ill save you the hassle though) youll see that when Year Zero was released, and The Slip, was released. I really did not enjoy those albums.

I never bothered with them again.

However, over the christmas holidays, i found myself wanting more NIN as ive overplayed the other albums i really like. So i decided to crank those albums out for the hell of it. Maybe its because im older, or maybe because theres nothing out right now very interesting..i dont know, but those albums have really grown on me. Good shit!!!!

Year Zero has typical NIN beats but mixed with a more current sound, it also has some great chorus's (i love Capital G)

The Slip, is raw and in someways under produced? Even so, this adds to the albums energetic and angry nature.

So now it seems i can listen to every NIN album to the fullest.

I'm not exactly sure where I stand with NIN. I like them, but they're not the easiest band to get into. I own all the main studio albums (except parts II-IV of Ghosts), but the most recent ones, aside from a few songs, haven't really done much for me. I think I'm going to try and go back and listen to NIN a bit more, because I think I'd enjoy them if I paid them a bit more attention. I like songs like The Beginning Of The End, God Given, Zero-Sum and The Great Destroyer from Year Zero, I'll have to give the rest of it another chance.

(I'm still not a big fan of their instrumentals though. Outside of A Warm Place and Ripe (With Decay) they don't really seem to go anywhere to me Undecided)

Trent Reznor Nominated for Best Original Score Oscar for 'The Social Network'

Posted on Jan 25th 2011

On Tuesday, Trent Reznor and his longtime collaborator Atticus Ross were nominated for an Academy Award for the score to David Fincher's 'The Social Network,' which is also up for seven other Oscars. They're fresh off picking up a Golden Globe for the music, a success the Nine Inch Nails main man was clearly surprised by: On his Twitter account shortly after that announcement, he posted a concise, two-word victory speech: "Holy s---!"

Even though I am not a commited nin fan or listener.
I even only heart the Slip since I bought it cause Robin was on it.

I did hear some older songs though and loved them two so it really wouldn't be a bad idea for them to reunite

Me too! hihi

I was happy because Trent won, but the thing is that Daft Punk were the ones who really deserved to win and weren't even nominated. The Academy has no clue... rant

I think it's Hans Zimmer that deserved to win for his Inception score... but it's awesome that Trent Reznor is now an Oscar-winning musician. He's doing the music for David Fincher's version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, now, so it looks like a whole new career has started for him. Smiley

Trent Reznor on finding the right notes for the 'Social Network' score: 'I saw a story about a guy who needs to prove himself'

February 28, 2011

So how about performing this live?

Reznor:We?re deep into the Angels record, but the idea  of performing this live is intriguing. As I?m trying to move away from Nine Inch Nails as a live rock band that tours endlessly, the idea of being thrust into something that feels like there?s no safety -- performing this live in a stripped down environment, of some sort, that?s a very appealing idea that we get into later.
