So my good friend is friends with someone from the House of Blues in Chicago

Looks like they also have suites which go around the balcony
prices for 20 people is $5500, fuckin crazy
does not include drinks just a suite and access to The Foundation Room
The Foundation Room is were you can hang before and after the shows, and bands member hang there sometimes also
There is also a 14 person Suite for $5000.
He said VIP tickets will be about $350, which gives you access to The Foundation Room, and a stool that goes around the crowd on the floor along the rail.
If i get any other info i will let you know, but he is trying to split a suite, which even though it might be crazy im willing to pay $350 a ticket for this venue and to have a chance to hang with the band, he also said he knows how to get access to the tour buses, who knows.
But if anyone gets the presale password please post it.

My friend was looking to go halves with a guy from the HOB, and i would maybe go halves on his half, its still alot of money, i think regardless im going to try and get 2 tickets if i can, and see what happens with the suite, either 1 VIP ticket, or 2 GA tickets, and i can always sell one to someone.  I will keep you posted

I called the livenation number. They only have 8 VIP stools and they are sold out. They were $500. Only opera boxes are left at $5000 for 14 people and they do not split boxes. So I will get the VIP ticket at gunsnroses.com

I did Silver VIP and here's why:

With Ticketmaster, the $125 tickets are actually $140 after fees and stuff. So for $40 more, I got a ticket today and I get a lithograph with it. I don't care about getting in 15 mins early since the venue is so small. Anywhere you are will be close to GNR (IMO), so that's cool with me.

The drive from Detroit to Chicago and back in one day is gonna suck  :hihi:

Can someone help me understand how this vip thing works? I bought 2 gold vip packages this on call vip thing am I supposed to call somewhere before the event to verify my name for both gold packages or is that something i do before the show starts?

"Please note that your concert ticket and lithograph will be mailed out to you. Your laminate and lanyard will be distributed on the night of the event."

I got the Gold too, I'm assuming we just go pick up the laminate and they'll tell us when they're gonna let us in early I guess.

Wow.  I've been away from these forums for so long, that I had to put in 3 different usernames before I got it right.

This'll be my first GNR show since they played the Rosemont with Baz in '06, and I'm beyond pumped to see them in a small venue.  I ordered silver VIP from the .com presale.  Shitty thing is, I live in Rock Island - clear across the state - so I'll be driving 3 hours to HoB for a 10pm show (Ok, let's be realistic here...a midnight showtime) and then I'll be driving back across the state after the show.  At least I had a vacation day to use.  The $180 I dropped on this is a STEAL to see them at House of Blues.

I agree, people are complaining about the prices, you may never see them in this venue again, cant wait!

Yeah, my mom, sister, girlfriend...friends, they all pretty much said I'm nuts.  When I was a kid, I watched that Live at the Ritz show every time it was on MTV...which was quite a few Saturdays - and I dreamed about seeing the band in a venue like that.  Sure, the lineup has changed - but the key component is still there in Axl's voice.  And Estranged is my favorite song ever...I need to see it performed live.

Yeah, I was thinking I might park as close to the venue as I can when I get into town so I can drink prior to the show. By the time the show starts, I'll have to cut myself off there. I don't have the expired tags problem, but I also don't want to drive 4 1/2 hours back to Detroit with even a little bit of a buzz.

Well to be fair, the description didn't say it would either. So the only one you got to blame is yourself. I like the 15 minutes early deal personally. I've never been to the Chicago HOB, but if it's as fucked up as the other ones I have been too, then that 15 minutes will be well worth the extra cash.

it lets you into the venue 15 minutes before everyone else on line, that's pretty awesome.

Ive been to shows at the Chicago HOB, and it gets SLAMMED, i mean you can get stuck in the back and be elbow to elbow with people, i was just hoping for maybe a special area or something, didnt really expect to meet axl or anything, but im just happy i am going, and $250 is worth it in my eyes, everything else is extra for me. 15mins to stand at the front for about 5hrs straight?  How do you get a beer or take a leak and not lose your spot, maybe board members can get an area up front and we can hold peoples spots.

It is a challenge. I don't drink beer and I just keep a small glass of water and cough drops.I go to the bathromm right before the I go inside. Sexkitten had the greatest post for surviving GA at a GNR show. If I'm going to be on the floor I like to be on the rail to have something to hold onto. I am hoping the lithograph is the pic from the GNR website. You could sell it on ebay. I purchased that beautiful poster from Warfield on ebay for $75.

well i tried to get my friend a ticket at 10 am looks like HOB Chicago is sold out!! knew it would go fast!! I ened up buying a ticket for him from Stubhub for 240!!! (ouch)  I guess if i had to do it all over again the VIP IS the way to go!! So my friend is getting me on the guestlist for The Foundation Room @ HOB Chicago, its an exclusive club in HOB and the bands hang there, he said there is an elevator with 2 security guards and you go up the elevator to a badass bar area with couches etc... i also should be able to bring 1 guest up!!

sounds like a great night, also heard the balcony sucks unless you are first row or 2nd, there are VIP seats in the front row i guess and everyone stands behind everyone, so if you have to look down at the stage you are fucked, everything will be broke down into sections, i think the 2nd balcony might be ok, but the 3rd balcony will blow from what i am told, i assume the VIP Gold gives you Floor GA

Bought my plane ticket today. $203 RT from Vegas, and that's WITH paying the extra $20 for Preferred boarding....dirt cheap. There better not be a fucking blizzard, haha.

I was at the Hammerstein in 06, and HOB is not even a quarter of the size of that place, Hammerstein is Huge compared to the HOB, look at that pic, all you are missing is the balcony which aint shit really, you will NEVER EVER forget this show, you wanna talk about up close and personal this is it, dont expect any pyro or anything the place would probably go up in flames, we may even get some acoustic songs here, this place is fuckin awesome let me tell you, like i said i would of paid $500 for a ticket.

My buddy from Chicago told me that the balcony doesn't have seats.  Don't know if that's always the case or just for the show he went too there.  He'd only been there once.

I've only been there once as well.  I saw Anthrax and DIO there 6 or 7 years ago.  I dont remember there being any seats in the balcony.  To be quite honest though, I was a little smashed.  A 12 pack of Bud Ice before the show will do that.

I've come up with another question.  How the fuck are they going to fit: 3 Guitarists, 1 Bassist, 2 Keyboardists, 1 Drummer, 1 Maniac Pinball Bouncing Frontman - and a Grand Piano, on that stage????

I did some checking and from the capacities reported online (read: I went to Wikipedia, lol) HoB Chicago is just about exactly 1/4 the size of Hammerstein. I thought that first Hammerstein show was the smallest GN'R show I'd ever see and I thank GN'R for showing me I thought wrong!

The amount of hotels around there are ridiculous, and the prices are even more ridiculous.
Go to googlemaps, enter HOB Chicago,  and search nearby hotels, there are tons in walking distance.

Ah! Once again, thanks for the tip. Not sure if I'll be doing a hotel now in light of the Detroit show but I'm gonna go check hotel pricing anyway.

I would say $250-$300 per night around that area.

Surprisingly it's not that much. I was finding stuff between $120 and $180.

I have to see where the finances fall after I (hopefully) get Detroit tickets in a half hour. I may still get the hotel room if for no other reason, I'll have a place to park and maybe crash for a bit if I need / want to after the show before having to drive back to Detroit.

Downtown is pretty safe.  The L is easy to use . You can get really good deals on some of those discount websites. A Sunday night in February is not going to be sold out. :hihi:

Looking at the size of the Roseland show, the chicago HOB is WAY smaller, Roseland looks like a mini Hammerstein, Chicago HOB is gonna have the roof blown off, cant wait

I was looking at that too.  HoB would almost fit inside Roseland.

I would say the main floor at HOB in Chicago holds 500 people, isnt the capacity 1300?  I dont even consider that Roseland show up close and personal, im sure its cool, but looks like a basic theater venue, glad i wasnt at that one.

I think capacity is 1400, but still - much, much, smaller than roseland.

   HOB is a 1300 person capacity four story venue. The restaurant is below the music hall. There are 14 private boxes on the 3rd and 4th floor.

There is a no flash photography policy.


All videotaping requests must be arranged with HOB at least 3 days prior in advance.A release or contract must be signed for videotaping.

The Chicago HOB is modeled after a European Opera House.

I stopped by the HOB today and that venue is tiny! I wanted to go inside and take a peek but they said NO! :hihi: The VIP laminates will not be available for pick up until 8pm or 8:30pm. Doors open at 9:30PM. 

HOB lets you go to the front of the line if you spend $20 in the company store or the restaurant. This will be going on the night of the GNR concert. Hopefully the VIP line is separate. :hihi: Green line trains stop at 1AM but they restart at 4am Monday morning. Red line runs all night.

How close is the red line train?  I'll just park in the China Town lot.

You can get off at State and Lake or Grand and Lake.. The HOB is on Dearborn which is west of the Lake. Dearborn is between State Street and Clark Street. It is very walkable. I think maybe 7 0r 8 blocks.

Again from the looks of it Terminal 5 is way bigger that HOB Chicago, im not sure the size of Webster Hall, but this is still looking like the best show of the tour, besides the last show in AC at HOB.  Also, i know HOB has the VIP area so im hoping some magic happens there,

There's a lot in China Town that'll run you about 20 bucks if you want to take the red line.  I'm leaning towards valet at the venue.  I was told it was $35 four years ago.  Probably more like $40 now.

I know for a fact there are parking garages about a block or 2 away, which would be probably $25 for the night, but parking garages are everywhere,  the one i parked in for the last show there was Northeast from the venue

I just heard on the radio that UPS is having problems with tracking numbers working on their computers, but that it is not affecting deliveries! I was going crazy this morning!

Stubhub is down to 16 tickets, and they're all over $300.  They sold like 30 just today.  I've been watching how insane the prices are getting.

96 hours from now I'll have invaded Downtown Chicago for the first time in quite awhile.  Looking forward to that opera box and meeting everybody at the show!

I called UPS and put a hold on mine so I can just pick it up at the local hub tomorrow after work I make sure I get it.  I'm covered thanks to Lumen, but I'd promised my ticket to a friend, and I want to make good on it.

Ok so I just noticed that the ticket I bought at Pre sale it says "GAMF" I'm guessing General Admission Main Floor, The Ticket I got from the broker on EBay says "GABL1" I'm saying General Admission Balcony 1 (which I was NOT aware of when I bought it) :(
So question do they assign you to that GA location or is it "first come first serve" and they just technically give out at GA location (example:G3 seat 244) and they use it for a head count ?
If not that's a bummer my friend is going to the balcony,& I'm on the main floor :-\

Man, that sucks. Reminds me of years ago when a few of my 6th grade buddies and I went to check out Top Gun. Small town, with a small theater, and it's the first time I ever saw it that packed. There were four of us, and we were all seated seperatly. Not cool. Hopefully someone can help you out with a ticket trade or something, so you and your pal can have the best time possible. Regardless, this event will crap all over Mav, Ice Man and their fancy ass jet fighters.

taking it easy today, got my tickets yesterday in the mail so i was excited to find the ups guy at my door as i was walking down the alley coming home from work.

Yeah, I'm driving straight back to Rock Island after the show as well, but I figure with the access to foundation room - I wont ever have another good shot at meeting Axl, so I'm hanging out for awhile.  I told my Girlfriend I'd probably be home before she had to leave for work, which is between 730-800am, and it's a 3 hour drive.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone as well.  I've made some great friends over the years online.  I actually moved to the Chicago area for a year because I've got so many great friends up that way that I met through the Megadeth forums back in the day.  Actually, the guy I'm giving my ticket to is one of them!  The only reason I moved back to the other side of the state is Cost of Living.  $1100 for a 2BR apt an hour outside the city...and 3 hours outside the city, I'm paying $625.  Trade off is a hell of a long drive when something cool comes to town!

Oh - yeah, the drive there shouldn't be so bad - 'Hawks/Blues starts at 2pm, so I'll have it on WGN Radio the whole way up!  I was originally supposed to be at the UC for the game, but as soon as GNR was announced - I nixed that.  Priorities, you see...Priorities!!

So I got into town yesterday, found a bar near where I'm staying. Got loaded, don't remember leaving the bar, but I woke up in the right place. Now I'm awake and ready to roll. :) Meeting some friends at 3, but I don't know what to do until then. Maybe I'll check out the planetarium.

Tonight is going to be fantastic....I kept my five year old up until 11 so that I could stay up until 1 and sleep until noon to be half prepared for the drive back after the show.  The little shit has been up since 730, and waking me up every half hour since.

The show was absolutely amazing. All my fav songs from Chinese! I honestly think I prefer the songs from Chinese over the classic songs!  It was so much fun to be up in the opera box. I was over to the right side of the stage and I had a great view of Axl from all angles. I was a little sad when Paradise City started, because I knew the show was going to end! They practically had to kick us out of the opera box!

Goddam Electric, rhiad and axlrosegnr are all super cool dudes! Thankyou so much guys for making this Up Close and Personal show so much fun!

Seriously people, DO ANYTHING YOU CAN to see one of these shows. It was the GREATEST show ever!

Great, great show, was about 10 deep, dead center for the first hour of the show, then had to retreat for the bar. Getting too old to stand around for 6 hours for GA shows!  I nearly shat myself when I overheard a Live Nation/HOB security guy tell the line of people that Slash t-shirts or top-hats weren't permitted.  I thought it was a rumor until I heard it for myself.  They're so worried about cameras, t-shirts, and top hats, yet there were no pat-downs of any way, shape, or form to gain entry into the Music Hall, which was unbelievably small.  (Had never been there.)  I could've walked in with an assault rifle down the leg of my jeans.  Kind of scary if you ask me, (see Dimebag Darrell).  But I digress...great show, got me really jacked up for more.  Hadn't seen Axl/GNR since 2002.  Being so close to him during the show really gave me a better feeling for just how much of a rock star he truly is.

One final observation, after watching some of the Pro-Shot footage of the show:
Why don't they use the final mic feed (after processed with effects) for the streaming feed?  I mean, I have no issue with Axl using filter/effects on his voice during a live show.  (As long as he's not singing to a backing track, which I think we can all rule that out.  Fer cripe's sakes, think about how difficult it would be to sing at such a high level for 3 hours without a little help, especially with his unique range.  The unfiltered mic feed was the one that was absolutely fed directly into the stream mix (before the mic effects cleaned it up a bit).  Kind of odd, but sounded fkn great to me in person, and that's all that matters.  I'm no audio tech, but it might have something to do with the effects creating more of a delay between the audio and video.

I was really annoyed that neither the Chicago Sun Times or Chicago Tribune did any sort of review on this totally epic show! :rant:

I am in total GNR withdrawal today. I hope they do a Las Vegas show the week March 25th at either the HOB or the JOINT. then I could justify another GNR road trip and be able to tweak my work schedule. :peace:

If you were walking off the main floor, facing the back of HoB, you'd go straight and up some steps. Straight ahead was a bar and to your left was the steps we all came up to get in. If you went to the left of the bar but to the right of the stairs, you'd see bathrooms in the back. You around to go to the left around BEHIND THOSE and there was a hall way where the merch and coat room were!! I'm not kidding. I had to ask security twice to find it. The second time, I kept looking back to see if I was going right and he kept pointing and nodding his head. I totally thought he was just fucking with me and I was going to end up outside or something.  :hihi:

Hahaha, I was re-organizing yesterday, and I find that I have four ziplock bags full.....not counting the ones I already have on the wall, lol.
