Ha, yes MeanBone's right, every single song in excellent quality should be fine. Also we want all of the inbetween song banter, as well as any speeches too.  :hihi:

U will be in guaranteed!

Then when u get in, u ditch the uniform and crank open the kegs for the people in attendance

Then of course, we want high def video of each and every song

then go home, copy those to DVD-R's and send me one ASAP

PM me for mailing address

Or you can just pretend you had your boobs done and you're a woman, but that would probably get you in trouble.

You'll end up being more close to Axl then you've ever wished for

The last surprise gig was pretty much a celeb party too, but some regulars still managed a way to get in.  Not sure how though.

Well, if Richard said that then it must be strictly a private show. I can't blame Richard for saying that, I'm sure if he was allowed he would have been happy to let you in. The thing is if you let 1 person in who's not on the guestlist then whats stopping another 10 or 20 from turning up expecting the same treatment. You have to draw the line somewhere right?.

But hey, it was worth a shot.   ;)

Great news that the guys have done another show

Seems like they are having a lot of fun out there at the moment.  What interests me is that they are doing songs such as Jungle, My Michelle that I have never thought of as being able to transfer acoustically.  I have also wondered what a slow downed acoustic YCBM would be like.

GUNS N' ROSES played a second "surprise" show in New York City in less than a week last night (Sunday, February 14) when singer Axl Rose and his hired guns performed at the Rose Bar in front of a celebrity-studded crowd.

Lane Brown of New York magazine writes in his review of last night's concert, "From where we were standing (approximately four rows away from the stage) we could barely tell the vocals from the guitars, which is presumably why so many people ? including Fabrizio from THE STROKES and Waris Ahluwalia ? attempted to shove their way past us. Would the Axl who spent 15 years fussing over the overdubs on 'Chinese Democracy' really have stood for such a poorly mixed show? Presumably not, right? At least Mickey Rourke (who watched from a booth in the back) seemed to be enjoying himself."

The band's setlist was as follows:

01. You're Crazy
02. Mr. Brownstone
03. Used To Love Her
04. Welcome To The Jungle
05. Street Of Dreams
06. Sorry
07. It's So Easy
08. Patience
09. Rocket Queen
10. Catcher In The Rye
11. My Michelle
12. Knockin' On Heaven's Door
13. Whole Lotta Rosie (AC/DC cover)
14. Sweet Child O' Mine
15. Nightrain
16. Paradise City

Read more from New York magazine.

from blabbermouth.

that's awefull if axl couldn't come above the guitars... but I think the reporter was just to far in the back.... it was acoustic and all... it should be no worry to get over those guitars wouldn't it?

TBH it's not up to Axl to be heard above the band; his only concern when he's onstage is to be able to hear himself above the band, but there's nothing he can do regarding the sound in the audience... So it cannot qualify as a critic of Axl.

Who said that one "could barely tell the vocals from the guitars"?!
Even with this poorly recorded video, one can easily tell the vocals from the guitars... That was just another irrelevent assertion.
Too bad for so-called music journalists: nowadays, we don't need their biased reviews anymore to try and know how a show actually sounded like.

Ya i hate that people who writes a column feel they can take the cheap shot or a jab here and there at Axl just because it (was) an easy head line or its an easy thing to do to grab attention to their write up!! Kinda like the bully at the playground who has never been in a damn fight but can talk louder and more often then everyone else!!
ya its easy to poke fun of some of the decisions that Axl has made in the past, but get over it!! His talent cannot be ignored!! Just from that paradise city video everything sounded great!!!   Its a shame they don't validate the journalists who get paid to write bias garbage!!
He is probably just pissed because he was a grunge fan growing up and now knowing there is truly noting worth writing about that era anymore!!! :-\

Axl's voice is awesome when not buried my loud guitars. I mean, I love the guitars, but sometimes is really cool to hear him more clearly.

Makes me wonder what would come out of a GnR unplugged record!

hehe great counter evidence comes this quick. thank you brownstonex and  whoever recorded and uploaded it!
and thanks for the pics and fun stories of the night.

k, i read the original vurture article to see it was actually blabbermouth that put a negative spin.
its not a serious review or anything. the lane guy doesn't say "hired guns" but says when he could hear it,
"Axl's voice did sound pretty terrific"

i just got to say im pretty dissapointed about these "suprise shows". not the sound, setlist, video or anything like that but the fact that us diehards arent there. rich snobs, models, and famous people. cmon....that just isnt right. im sure more than half these people dont even know the band, which to me is just a slap in the face to those of us who would do close to anything to see these unbelievable intimate shows. maybe the ones who should be rewarded with a show like this are the ones who  truly have backed this band for the last decade or so. and this is not a bash of the band or axl, but i know many of us would appreciate this once in a lifetime showcase of THE greatest band of all time more than the crowds they are playing to.

nice try frankenhooker!

There's people in the band that have been there longer than the original members and people are calling it axl's new band.  It hasn't been the original lineup for almost 20 years.

I agree with the post above stating that these private gigs are cool but what about the real fans? Most of these people are not into Axl's vision and could care less. (Their twitter pages prove that). How many NY or NJ fans would kill for this kind of show? Why post on a forum that surprise gigs are coming for the rest of us when the rest of us can't get into them?

And before someone says I am not owed anything.. Axl shouldn't pull a double talkin' jive move and tell us about gigs that we can't get into.. It's wrong.

No matter what you think you know, fans do get to attend these shows.

Unfortunately in a place like New York, not every local GN'R fan can attend an intimate show with a capacity of 100-200. It's common sense.

Yeah I do know fans were there. Cause most had to sneak in. The rest were kicked out. Some were very lucky to get in. But most were kicked out before the show even started. Plus these shows are for fashion week parties, it's not like they were for fans which is what I and others thought from his post on mygnr andGNR's twitter. There is still time so I hope Axl decides to play for the fans who really want to have that kind of experience.

Theoretically it's possible. Realistically, it's tough...

How many of the fans are 21 and over?

How many can actually stay out until early morning on a week night?

The same people who are upset when a show doesn't end before midnight are gonna stand in a club until 3-4am?

If you ignore the above factors, how do you figure you'd distribute "tickets" to a "free surprise show" if everybody knows about it beforehand?

It's never gonna be "fair". Simple as that.

Just enjoy the fact that the band is using the downtime between legs of the tour to have some fun and be happy for those who get to attend!

It doesn't have to be free and all fans know that it would be a late night. Being such a late night then under 21 really wouldn't have a shot but that's better than only private parties. Give and take. They could state the show is happening in the early afternoon and by the time they hit the stage enough people would be there. At least the same amount but most likely more than the past two gigs.

It's not the fact of playing to everyone who wants to go.. But giving everyone an equal chance of going to see them.

I am happy for those who get to see the shows.. But as a fan in the area it's a let down that these "surprise" gigs are all private.

Nomad, I understand what your saying about hardcore GN'R fans wanting to experience an intimate show like this. But who doesn't, I'm sure every GN'R fan would love to attend a show like this, but you can't please everybody.  ::)

But I totally disagree with you, with what you said about Axl not telling us if every GN'R fan can't attend. Are you serious, in the last couple of months we've been blessed to have Axl and GN'R on twitter. I think we should be grateful for any information Axl or the band is willing to give us.   : ok:

GNR are active.. i have no complaints. As bad as I want a US tour, as long as they are playing somewhere, I am fine.

Its all cool, guys, I would a loved to go out myself to the shows, but I take it for what it is, Axl said he was gonna do "surprise gigs" they have . The band is having fun, friends I know were at one or two, I don't feel bad for not being there, nor feel as if I was owed it . As a fan Im just damn happy they are "re birthing" so to speak, and showing people they are a band. I doubt most people cared back when in 87 I saw them at , CBGBs, Sundance. Ritz,, Scrap Bar... etc.. These shows just really prove they are serious. Its that the band cares about the die hards to let them know they are doin these things, as opposed to doin them strictly for them self, and not saying. oh wait cause than people would complain and bitch, cause they played shows to only "certain", blah blah never ending cycle with some of you.

Guns N' Roses Rock Star-Studded Secret Show in New York

Posted on Feb 15th 2010 5:45PM

Flashbulbs popped, tequila flowed and a cool crowd including Russell Simmons, Dita Von Teese, Mickey Rourke, Adrian Grenier, Chlo? Sevigny, Strokes' Fabrizio Moretti and other assorted models and musicians let loose last night at swanky Nur Khan's Rose Bar in New York's Gramercy Park Hotel, where Guns N' Roses played a secret, invite-only show.

The surreal soir?e was GN'R's second unannounced New York Fashion Week appearance in the past few days. (Thursday they played the John Varvatos store, former site of CBGBs).

Hitting the stage after 1:30AM with 'You're Crazy,' notorious frontman Axl Rose and his new GN'R musicians bedazzled the small, jam-packed room with an hour-and-a-half of classics, as well as newer material from 'Chinese Democracy.'

Songs like 'Welcome to the Jungle,' 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door,' 'Mr. Brownstone,' 'Patience,' and 'Sweet Child O' Mine' jetted us into a rock 'n' roll fantasy, where booze is the fountain of youth, cigarettes are good for you, and sex is the engine of everything. (It was a good place to be for a night.)

"Is this really happening," slurred an awe-stricken lass who, to get a better view, had stumbled up beside me onto a red velvet platform fashioned from Rose Bar's elegant billiard table. While the sophisticated crowd was hardly wide-eyed, drunk girl summed up the overall vibe. There we were in a gorgeous space designed by Julian Schnabel, Warhol art on the walls, being entertained by larger-than-life legends sweating bullets just a few feet away, close enough for inappropriate eye contact. Sure, there was some inevitable pushing, shoving and posturing, but overall there were probably more smiles in that one room than most attendees had ever seen in a New York bar.

On stage was the "new" Guns N' Roses in all its glory, including bassist Tommy Stinson (formerly of the Replacements) and songwriting guitarist DJ Ashba, who has a big top hat to fill and rises to the occasion in terms of both charisma and guitar riffs. (He's also written and produced for Motley Crue.) Tattooed and shirtless beneath his vest and rocking more eyeliner than Lady Gaga, like the rest of the band, Ashba works the sexy LA glam look to the max, flirting with self-caricature but somehow never quite crossing that line. Yet mustachioed Axl was, of course, the main attraction. Sporting a cowboy hat, shades, and velveteen jacket, he didn't talk much. He didn't have to, his melodic caterwaul and snakelike dance moves said it all.

Love him or hate him, Axl is a rock star. So, as we do with all icons, we forgive them their attitudes, bad behavior, and tragic flaws -- allegedly banning Slash-related attire at a recent stadium concert in Saskatchewan, hitting the stage hours late in Toronto -- as long as they deliver when it counts.

After the final bangs of 'Paradise City,' the band disappeared and the crowd fled, heading, probably, to various after-parties and leaving an empty room strewn -- literally -- with broken glass and rose petals.

Absolutely.  Also knowing that obviously "the rest of us" wouldn't all be able to see the shows, maybe he thought we'd just enjoy the fact that they're out there doing these types of things.  These shows they're playing are "for us" in a sense, even if we're not able to attend.  I'm sure I don't have to remind you of the dead periods we've witnessed over the years.  The band is more active than they've been in years and it appears that's going to continue for awhile.  I wouldn't worry too much about who's able to attend these surprise gigs.  Of course we'd all like to be there.  Hopefully we all get a chance to see the band up close and personal when all is said and done.

And after all I have done for them........ ;)

On another note, the band sound tight as fuck and seem to be really enjoying themselves at the moment.

http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/knife_menace_at_guns_show_QM2ZkBJ1Bzz7jqi1BpZGVI

Chaos was narrowly averted at an intimate Guns N' Roses concert when a man with a knife was tackled by ex-Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach.

The mystery man casually pulled out what appeared to be a switchblade knife as he walked into the packed and uber-exclusive "Nur Khan's Rose Bar Sessions" at the Gramercy Park Hotel on Sunday.

But Bach, who was standing near the door, immediately got the stranger thrown out of the bash, which was attended by a host of stars including Mickey Rourke.

A witness reports, "The man walked in while Guns N' Roses was onstage and pulled out a knife and flicked the blade out. Sebastian, who was standing on a banquette said: 'Nobody is getting anywhere near my man Axl Rose with a knife,' and went after him. Security then immediately threw him out. The man appeared to be drunk. It was dealt with so quickly that none of the other guests or the band were aware of it."

The private Valentine's Day concert was the hottest ticket in town, with a handpicked crowd including the Strokes' Fabrizio Moretti and Albert Hammond Jr., Ryan Phillippe, Zoe Kravitz, Josh Lucas, Yigal Azrouel and Sophia Bush, who all packed into the Rose Bar for the DeLeon Tequila-sponsored first of Khan's series of intimate concerts.

Guns N' Roses played for two hours for 150 guests, finishing up at 3 a.m. before moving the party upstairs with a group of model and rocker friends until 6 a.m.

When earlier asked by The Post's Brian Niemietz if long metal hair will come back in fashion, Bach said, "If it does, people better start now because it takes seven [bleep]ing years to get it this length." Flaunting his golden locks, Bach added, "And this isn't some Jessica [bleep]ing Simpson hair extensions -- this is the real deal." A rep for the Rose Bar declined to comment.

I personally feel upset and used that I was not personally invited, flown first class and given front row seats.  I mean just who in the hell do they think they are?

That was funny. ;D

I asked the guy who filmed KOHD if he could post more, apparently he just filmed a short clip of Jungle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL7_R-wprmA

Hi guys, I was lucky enough to sneak into this show!  :peace: As you can imagine it was absolutely amazing!  I was in the 2nd row. Axl shook my hand.   Saw Mickey Rourke, but I didn't see Baz and the whole knife incident.  It was completely old school...people smoking cigarettes and joints all over the place and it wasn't a problem.  : ok: A tequila company sponsored it, so it was free drinks as well...double score!!!!  It was really rowdy...someone even crowd surfed in a 150 person crowd!  Hell yeah!  Started at 1:30 and ended at 3.

Kind of one of those reasons I am not sure if small intimate gigs are a good idea.. stage too close to people, lax security............ kinda frightening

Baz is Opening act, Publicist, and now head of security

wonder if it was some scorned idiot from a message forum?

Guns n? Roses Rock Fashion Week With Second Secret NYC Show

For the second time during New York Fashion Week, Guns n? Roses staged a late-night secret show in a tiny private venue, performing at the Rose Bar in the wee hours of Valentine?s Day night in front of a celebrity-filled crowd of 150 people. Like Gn?R?s surprise gig at the Varvatos store where CBGB used to be located, Axl Rose and Co. didn?t hit the Rose Bar stage until 1:30 a.m., delivering another hits-filled set list that was almost identical to their Varvatos show, New York Magazine?s Vulture blog reports, with the major change being ?Paradise City? replacing ?Night Train? as the night?s final encore.

Packing Guns n? Roses? stadium-sized performances into a small venue is likely a difficult task, and the leap from arenas to ultra-trendy clubs did affect the Guns? Rose Bar show as Rose struggled to lift his voice above the instruments, Vulture writes. Mickey Rourke, Adrian Grenier, members of the Strokes and Zoe Kravitz were just a handful of the celebrities that were treated to this exclusive Guns n? Roses performance, which had been rumored since last week.

A scary sidenote to the Rose Bar show comes from the New York Post, who report that a seemingly drunk man with a knife somehow infiltrated the extremely private show, but the ever-watchful Sebastian Bach managed to get the man thrown out before any violence ensued. A witness told the Post, ?The man walked in while Guns n? Roses was onstage and pulled out a knife and flicked the blade out. Sebastian, who was standing on a banquette said, ?Nobody is getting anywhere near my man Axl Rose with a knife,? and went after him.?

Check out Guns n? Roses? Rose Bar set list below:

?You?re Crazy?
?Mr. Brownstone?
?Used to Love Her?
?Welcome to the Jungle?
?Street of Dreams?
?Sorry?
?It?s So Easy?
?Patience?
?Rocket Queen?
?Catcher in the Rye?
?My Michelle?
?Knockin? on Heaven?s Door?
?Whole Lotta Rosie?
?Sweet Child o? Mine?
?Nightrain?
?Paradise City?

Sounds like the show was amazing, just like the 1st secret show. It is scary to think about the person with the knife, you just don't realise that there are mad people out there, and then when you add alchohol to the mix.  :'(

I'm really thankful to Sebastian, he is a true friend and always shows it. I'm also happy he's opening the Brazilian shows, he really deserves it.

Guns N' Roses Perform in a Tiny NYC Bar!

"Happy Valentines Day," Axl Rose said with a smirk Sunday night, addressing the 150 very beautiful, very lucky people who landed on the guest list for a private Guns N' Roses concert at the Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar in New York City. Winking and referencing his band, he added: "We're the morning-after pill!!!"

Charming. But celebs like Mikey Rourke, Adrian Grenier, Ryan Phillippe, Albert Hammond Jr. and Fab Moretti of the Strokes, Emily Haines of Metric, and Sebastian Bach didn't come for holiday chivalry. They came for badass rock'n'roll -- and they got it. Lots of it.

The late-night concert -- GNR's second surprise appearance at New York Fashion Week -- was a little piece of paradise city: Rose and his six-piece band unleashed a 90-minute, 16-song set spanning all their hits.

GNR performed in front of a fireplace covered in roses, with a black-and-red painting of a skull hanging above. The lights were dim, gorgeous women outnumbered the men 2 to 1, the booze was free, and the light fixture overhead, the singer noted, looked like the spiky thorns of a rosebush. It could have been a scene from a GNR music video.

The band opened with "You're Crazy" and "Mr. Brownstone," and proceeded to play acoustic versions of hits from Use Your Illusion, Lies EP, and their 1987 mega-hit Appetite for Destruction, including its eternally awesome lead single "Welcome to the Jungle."

The 48-year-old frontman, wearing a brown velvet suit and matching top hat over his red bandana, slithered and tossed the mic from hand to hand as he stretched his vocals on set standout "Nightrain."

He slowed the tempo on super ballad "Patience," as the lights overhead turned his gigantic diamond rings into miniature disco balls, and the crowd sang along and waved their lighters in the air (real ones -- thanks, smokers!).

The band played only two tracks off their 15-years-in-the-making 2008 record Chinese Democracy: "Catcher in the Rye" and "Sorry."

The sound, especially Rose's vocals, was occasionally muddy, but the bandmembers -- keyboardist Dizzy Reed, drummer Frank Ferre, bassist (and former Replacement) Tommy Stinson, and three guitarists -- the chain-smoking DJ Ashba (Yes, that's his real name. No, he's not an actual disc jockey), Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, and Richard Fortus -- played admirably through the slog.

Overall, the show was a reminder that love 'em or hate 'em, Axl and GNR created some of the most quintessential rock songs of the '80s and '90s.

GNR's cover of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" scored loudest crowd reaction of the night, with second place going to set-closer "Paradise City."

On the latter, as Stinson sang backup, a very sweaty Rose ripped of his top hat, jacket, and sunglasses. In a red bandana, unbuttoned shirt, and blue jeans, he recalled the iconic Axl from the late '80s -- only 20 years older and 30 pounds heavier.

"It sounds really good," commented one hardcore fan. "Hey, I can just close my eyes and pretend it's 1987!"

Guns N' Roses setlist:
1. "You're Crazy"
2. "Mr. Brownstone"
3. "Used To Love Her"
4. "Welcome To The Jungle"
5. "Street Of Dreams"
6. "Sorry" (Chinese Democracy)
7. "It's So Easy"
8. "Patience"
9. "Rocket Queen"
10. "Catcher In The Rye" (Chinese Democracy)
11. "My Michelle"
12. "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" (Bob Dylan Cover)
13. "Whole Lotta Rosie" (AC/DC cover)
14. "Sweet Child O' Mine"
15. "Nightrain"
16. "Paradise City"

what kind of an idiot actually gets into a show like this only to pull a knife out?

that's really brave of baz (apparently empty handed) to go after the man

hopefully this doesn't discourage gnr from doing more of these shows

In all seriousness - that's fucking scary. Considering Dimebag and all, I'm suddenly supportive of anal security when going into a venue (although once I'm in, leave me the fuck alone, security guys!).

Looks like the raven hairdye is fading or he quit the color. To be sincere I really like the black and wish he'd keep it instead of going brown or blonde.

i just got to say im pretty dissapointed about these "suprise shows". not the sound, setlist, video or anything like that but the fact that us diehards arent there. rich snobs, models, and famous people. cmon....that just isnt right. im sure more than half these people dont even know the band, which to me is just a slap in the face to those of us who would do close to anything to see these unbelievable intimate shows. maybe the ones who should be rewarded with a show like this are the ones who  truly have backed this band for the last decade or so. and this is not a bash of the band or axl, but i know many of us would appreciate this once in a lifetime showcase of THE greatest band of all time more than the crowds they are playing to.

nice try frankenhooker!

well reading Axl twitter post seems that he read ur post !  got em a lil pissed  :-\

Cool story! I'm glad for you. ;) And thanks for posting the pics!
Not a big fan of tequila though. A Jack Daniel's sponsored event, now that's somewhere I'd go to! ;D (even though I would have gone to the Rose Bar too if I was in town, make no mistake lol)

Wow, thank you very much for those two Vimeo videos, the Sweet Child one owns. Sweet Child is one of those songs that compliments itself by being stripped down. Also DJ and Bumble handled the solo brilliantly on the acoustic, and in DJs case the clean sounding Guitar.

Both of those videos are really nice, thank you.  :D

That black-and-white SCOM video is great! It's like the best fucking "MTV Unplugged" ever. Sounds awesome with the acoustic guitars, Axl looks as cool as he ever has and the band was definitely having a genuine good time on stage. Axl is doing it his way, and it's fucking awesome. i'm happy for the band, happy for the fans, and looking forward to the GnFnR future!!!

As far as Sebastian Bach goes -- what a fucking pal! It is scary (like others, i immediately thought of the Dimebag incident). Thank God nothing tragic happened. I think it's awesome that Baz, of all people, thwarted the potential attack. Too bad Mickey Rourke didn't get there in time to give the asshole with the knife a dose of the "Ram Jam"!

Another crazy incident in the history of this band. Rock and fuckin' roll! I love it!!!

Sounds like the band kinda won this guy over (note - this is about the club scene in general but a lot about the Rose Bar gig):

http://www.blackbookmag.com/article/the-greatest-show-on-earth/16163

Guns N? Roses Keep Hope Alive

The phone calls began around noon on Sunday. Desperate rockers caught wind of a performance by Guns N' Roses (and Axl Rose) in the intimate confines of Rose Bar. I politely instructed them to cultivate a relationship with Nur Khan, Rose Bar's knight in shining armor, so that in the future they're invited to parties. I wouldn't get involved. I wouldn't make inquiries. Nur, I'm sure, was inundated with requests from his own family of thousands. I had no intention of attending as Sundays are reserved for visits with my parental units. Nur texted me around 7:30 to invite me and well, the prospect of seeing a stadium act in a living room setting was undeniable. He also invited me to the Purple Magazine party on the roof. I took a deep breath and thought, maybe the whole scene should do the same. With all the talk of the 98 Kenmare space with my gangster hero Paul Sevigny, maybe this was a flashpoint. Maybe this is the start of a big decade for clubdom.

The scene is seething, waiting for answers to the questions. Is this really fun? Is this really cool? Is this all there is? Will it ever be great again? I?m not talking three bottles, some models and a B-list actor cool. I?m talking a cool that is so cool that it turns that crowd off. I?m not talking follow the leader cool but trendsetter cool, new music cool. Isn?t it time to send those mix format DJs back to weddings and their menial labor jobs? Isn?t it time that DJs aren?t just Serrato geeks playing the same track as the guy next door? That shit?s got to be over soon.

Now, it?s very arguable that an aging Axl with a band called Guns N? Roses (which has been slashed down to basically a parody) isn?t really that cool. However, the performance in a small joint with a super exclusive invited crowd is a d?j? vu event. It felt very warm, fuzzy and familiar and brought up the possibilities and the rewards of doing it right, of not selling out to greed. Nur likes loot as much as the next fellow but he hasn?t, in my experience, lost sight of the ball. He hasn?t caved in as most of the other joints have and considered a five bottle buying bean counter a VIP. He denies them and builds his relationships with artists and talent. It?s the theory that clubs can be built around smart, sharp, hip crowds and not meccas for bottle bullies and their mail order brides and escorts. Nur was gushing all about sound check, and, as all great club deities are the super-est of salesmen, his pleas hit home and I said ?yes?.

Nur is taking it to the next level. Another fashion week for him at Rose Bar, and he still puts acts into a room not big enough to house their equipment, let alone the pretty people. ?Eight seasons into Fashion Week and I?m still doing this shit!? he offered in unbridled glee. He gushed about past shows, ?The Cult, Jane?s Addiction, The Black Keys, The Kooks, Velvet Revolver, Arckid, and I forget who else right now.? I left him to his cell phone and the pleas of thousands and finished dinner with the flock.

The most impressive thing about the event is how professionally it was handled at the door. It wasn?t the madhouse associated with every major fashion week event. Calmness and professionalism separated the invited from the rest and it was done with polite but sure words. It was a room filled with hot, smart women and familiar faces. Guys who looked like rock stars wearing ?Who?s Cooler Than Me? hats. Mickey Rourke and crew with Vegas and his posse. Russell Simmons meticulously saying hello to everyone. Ever dapper, always dashing Andr? Balazs with crew attached parted the crowds as easily as Moses would part the waters of a guppy tank. I smiled, said hello and got the warm acknowledgment of nightlife?s reigning king. As he moved on, I heard gasps about the tall beautiful woman he was with. I didn?t notice her. Alas, I?ve reached that point.

I glad handed Binn and Genc Jakupi and gushed over Guest of a Guest?s Rachelle Hruska. There were so many bold-face names, I wanted to alert the media. I decided that I was the media and I won?t leak (more) names. As the show neared, the placid hipsters started to resemble those mall shoppers on the day after Thanksgiving. Nearness to the stage was the goal. Security edited a few of the guestlist/door decisions without dampening the excitement. The band hit the stage hard. Axl looked good, if not a little too much like Mickey Rourke. I glanced at Mickey?s table to assure myself. He really should play Axl in the movie. We were all arms length from each other and pogo-ing like it was 1989. Band and audience became one. The crowd was spectacular and, in that frenzied state, as sexy as I?ve ever seen a club crowd.

It can happen. It will happen. There?s nothing much wrong with nightlife, except for the wrong people being in control of the right spaces. Nur will do bigger things, as he said to me, ?As a complement to this not instead of this?. How can people lament about how lame nightlife has become when Rose Bar is always there, when Brooklyn Bowl and Skeebar still open their doors nightly? With Nur and Paul?s place moments away and Jane rumors abound, we can come back to the future. You can still get fixed up well at 1Oak on most nights, and The Box is turning three this week. I still go and it?s still fun. There?s a lot going on. Avenue is what it is for those who believe in what it is, and it?s undeniably being exactly that.La Esquina still serves me right. I?m having tea later at The Breslin and Provocateur is delivering as promised. The house bastions, Pacha (David Guetta?s there next weekend) and Cielo, still provide. The dive bars are more fun than ever. Lit Lounge is still my favorite haunt. I think we?re going to be all right.

Not at the Rose Bar...but no wonder Axl and Sebastian were at the back of the club. :P

Susan Sarandon vomited on by transsexual performer at burlesque club

Actress Susan Sarandon was vomited on by a transsexual performer at a burlesque club.

Sarandon, who recently separated from long-term love Tim Robbins, was one of a number of stars to celebrate the third anniversary of hip New York club The Box.
But everyone was stunned when transsexual performer Rose Wood vomited on stage - directly hitting Oscar winner Sarandon.

'She actually handled it very well,' a witness said. 'She was laughing while a bunch of guys came over to towel her off.'

Standing just a few feet away were actors Scarlett Johansson and Liev Schreiber, while Guns 'N' Roses frontman Axl Rose and his frequent collaborator, former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, hung out toward the back of the club.

Axl Rose & Scarlett Johansson pingpong pals

February 25, 2010

Axl Rose and Scarlett Johansson sure are spending a lot of time in the same places. The aging rocker and sultry actress were spotted at an after-hours spot in NoHo a week ago Wednesday, the Box on Thursday, and the Boom Boom Room on Sunday until 3 a.m. On Tuesday of this week, after the curtain of "A View From the Bridge," Johansson was seen playing pingpong with Rose at SPiN. "They were laughing the whole time," says a spy. "They looked like they were having fun." The Guns N' Roses frontman later turned up solo at celebrity haunt Avenue. A different source said, "He swaggered in wearing jeans and an unbuttoned T-shirt, showing off his chest, and wearing lots of bracelets and rings. He had a pingpong paddle in his hand . . . He was in a good mood drinking vodka . . . He even danced on the table for a while." Johansson's new husband, Ryan Reynolds, is in New Orleans filming "Green Lantern."

Aside from the obvious, it sounds like he's having fun in NY.  I'd like to see video of the dance.

I didn't know you were an old man at 48. Is Axl the only aging rock star on the planet?  ::)

So who has been spotted all over NYC together?

Scarlett Johansson and?Axl Rose?!

WTF?!

The two of them were seen at an after-hours spot in NoHo last Wednesday, the Box on Thursday, the Boom Boom Room on Sunday and celeb-favorite pingpong club SPiN this past Tuesday!

An eyewitness says of their pingpong match, "They were laughing the whole time. They looked like they were having fun."

Susan Sarandon is an investor in "Spin", the ping pong club mentioned in the article.  She made a special guest appearance on The Jimmy Fallon Show to play ping pong with Olivia Munn against Artie Lange and Jimmy and she plugged the club.

I wonder if Axl is a good ping pong player?  I think Scarlett Johansson would be distracting to play.

No man, the plan is working.  Axl wrecks her home, she leaves him, and that leaves the door wide open for me.

Yessssssssssss.

Christos, I dont know if you meant to post this exact video, but thats from a Brazillian guy who reposted those old videos (esteban has a DVD of those in the downloads section). I dont think this guy was the original source.

But yeah, great videos indeed. I wish they would have the new songs too.
