DRUNK, I think the question should be more like:  Why are you obsessed with Axl Rose?  Everyone answer.   hihi

Seriously, everytime I think I'm gonna throw in the towel, I listen to some GNR or see a pic of him from the old days, and my obsession is renewed!

There's plenty of good frontmen out there, but they're missing this un-definable quality that Axl once possessed (I hope he still has it).  It's his entire persona including his voice, his energy, and his inexplicable charisma.

Nobody does black leather and bandana the way he does.  Cheesy

He defines rock n' roll.

That's a pretty tough question...like someone said I would need pages to go thru that into details but...I think the main thing to me is just one word: "energy".
When I watch videos of old/ new line-up I'm always impressed about how much energy he has on stage, that's really amazing. I had the chance to see the band live in 2002 in Belgium and I was completely blown away by the performance. There is no word to describe this. I've been a fan since 1991 and never had the chance to see the band in concert...when I saw them live in 2002 it was so intense I felt like I was just a part of a huge crowd only here for one guy, one band.
I also admire the character, charisma, the passion, the mystery, and obviously the songwriting skills and the voice. I admire the guy for a lot of reasons, and I would't have kept my site up to date since 1999 if I didn't believe in him and in his music.

I also admire the fact that he was able to keep the band's new music exclusive and unheard for more than ten years. With modern technology and internet leaks, to me that's pretty amazing.

I admire him because he speaks his mind and he explains his songs with depth and understanding. No one has ever created music as complex and with passion as axl.

He makes me wanna be a better person!

Hmm ...

But seriously ... obsession is the perfect word (especially after reading the majority of posts here .. seriously you guys sometimes make me think you're like that chick in "A Slipping Down Life" ... ).

No offense .. but I really hope you people are joking when you say stuff like ... "because he is everything in one person"

Nobody knows Axl ... and the only healthy admiration you could have for him would have to be like what K-Rock has ...

Axl's music is really all that I admire ... I like the persona he portrayed from AFD thru UYI .... thought that was cool ...

And I'm looking forward to see how he performs CD if he ever does....

P.S.: I don't wanna have to post again, so I'll apologise if I stepped on any toes here, just promise me you'll take what I'm saying seriously ...

(BTW, didn't some of you argue feverishly that nobody really knows Axl, when everyone was complaining about his choice of lyrics [on OIAM] and the whole wife-beating thing ?)

Because part of me wishes that I could be him, but I know I never can.... bummer

He writes better songs than anyone else.

He sings better than anyone else.

He looks cooler (sometimes) than anyone else.

He has balls, like no other front main around.

He's always the underdog, always fighting against the mases.

He has a vision of GNR, to make it better, to push the boundries, A vision that I share. beer

Although my admiration for Axl Rose is dwindling due to his lack of communication with his fanbase, I can still go back and listen to almost any track off any of the albums and his raw emotion that comes across in his singing just gets me everytime.

It's that singing that separated GN'R from all of the hair-band fluff of the 80's, and it really irks me when people lump GN'R in with the hair-metal tag, when they were and are so much more than that.

Also the fact that Estranged has gotten me through many many tough times in my life, I will forever be grateful to the guy and support him 100% if and whenever he decides to put out some new music for us. ok

Axl Rose is Guns n Roses.  He always was.  That's what I love about him.  He's not just a Rock star.  He's an artist.  He's a poet.    You can look at him and tell he's a kind person.  You can also see the rage he lives with.  It seems that he's on a lifelong journey to be happy and people always end up fucking it up for him like

Asshole Guitarists, Asshole Media, Asshole Fans who feel he owes something to them.... like a release date...... Asshole fans that feel
he's taking too long.... asshole record companies who put out piece of shit Greatest Hits CDs,asshole former band members talkin shit

I think his struggles are easy for people like myself who are struggling through life to relate to.

Like I said, He's more than a Rock Star.  That's why the first band became the greatest band in the world.  That's also why the first band broke up.  He's above Snakepit and Velvet Revolver.  He is Guns n Roses.

to add 1 more thing-

I went to see the House of Blues show in Vegas.  The rolled out the piano for the Blues.  There were sound problems and it didnt work.  Axl then made some jokes and talked to the crowd.  He really showed everyone there who he really is.  He was very funny.  Very warm.  The crowd ended up chanting Welcome back welcome back.  The look on his face showed that he is far from the asshole people think he is.  He was kinda turning red with shyness - He's become a very important part of the lives off all his fans and to see the connection he had with his audience was amazing.

Axl Rose- An amazing entertainer/performer/singer/writer!

His songs cure my sadness/emptiness in life! {AxlGreece you ain't the only one!  Kiss}

I look up to him! 15 Year olds these days look up to bloody crappy pop artists!
Me- Axl Rose which most teens don't know who he is {especially in the pop world!}

You see he had a bad childhood- me too!
And he grew up to achieve what he wanted to be- a ROCKSTAR!
{me too!  hihi} honestly though he did it!
so he gives me hope! which i honestly need!
And i'm sooooooooooo proud of him, like we all are!

He keeps me going with the help of lyrics such as Don't Cry, November Rain, Estranged, Coma and to completely cheer me up and pick my feet up... SCOM!

He is funny, charming, etc. with so much power on stage!
he sings and stands up to what he believes in!
He is a real person, and has had so much shit thrown at him, he is still standing tall! We are still supporting him! Why? because we love him! Not only him, but his music he produces is fantastic!

WORDS HONESTLY CAN'T DESCRIBE WHAT GNR'S MUSIC MEANS TO ME!

He is living proof that you can achieve what you want in life, and still be who you are- to be grounded, to not be scared of people, to be strong, etc.
He loves his fans! {he almost cried when he made his comeback, loyal fans shouting "welcome back"}

He is professionally/personally amazing! I love him to bits- even though i haven't met him!

G'N'F'N'RS FOREVER!

I admire his courage to sit in his house for 10 straight years and continually take pot shots from the media and fans about him, yet still not release an album and shut them up because for whatever God forsaken reason he is just not ready. It takes either alot of courage or stupidity, I just haven't decided which yet.

Nice Naupis-tis true tis true. Grin I don't "admire" Axl Rose. I simply enjoy his music/singing voice and appreciate the brutal, simplistic honesty in his lyrics/songs.  Undecided

The things that hooked me in the first place were his voice, his live performing ability, his mistakes, and his attitude. But as time passes with little or no contact from him, I can't really say I admire him. It would be like admiring the brother who left the family and you never heard from again. What's to admire? He's sort of a nobody right now, because he hasn't made himself available. If he puts this record out and it's half as good as the amount of time to make it would suggest, then my admiration will triple what it once was. But until then...

Axl rose!!!!!!!!!

Admiration?Huh

Thats pretty tough to say the least.

The first thing that got me, was the way he sung on appettite. There was pure passion in the way he came across vocally. Be it the tenderness of sweet child, the agression of its so easy or the almost sarcastic tones in areas of the album, each track is done in a way that can make it relate to aspects of my personal feelings. I dont mean that i put myself in axls shoes, but it just the topics and reality of situations he writes of.

The making of Estranged is a great way of actually seeing what the guy is like. He goes on in some seriousness about his loss of love with stephanie and dyln and the confusion it is causing him. Its a very honest moment and i admire his balls for being so open, when he knows millions of people are going to see this. Despite how serious aspects of this are, he is then laughing and joking about the drowning scene, matt flipping him, going on about pissing, shitting and whatever there is to do in a wet suit.

The guys pure energy live is awsome. I saw them twice with the illusions line up and twice in 2002. I do think it has flucyuated a little, but he still rocks.

I also admire the way he tore warren beatty to shreds on live television. Who else can you think of that has done something like that in front of millions around the planet. Homefuck!!!!!!!!!

All of you that had positive remarks about Axl are so true. He is one amazing rocker, that is for sure. So much in the media over the years is made up to make him look like a badass, but that is far from the truth. Yes! He is a genius, a poet and so much more. My 3 year old granddaughter watches the videos of him and idolizes the man. And so do I.

I admire him because he speaks his mind no matter if people like it or not he just says what he feels, he always stands up for himself and no matter what people say he just keeps goin strong...sure he has his problems but who doesn't? its probably a real piss off when everyone is pointin out the little mistakes that you make or when anythin goes wrong with the band it's always his fault, it can really get to a person so in my opinion i think he's doin pretty damn well.

oh..and he can fuckin rock!

He always stands up for himself

Are we talking about the same Axl here? People and the media have been poking fun at him for the better part of the entire time he has been trying to get new GNR off the ground and I have yet to seem him do anything in terms of standing up for himself and showing people this is not a joke. It has been one error/miscalculation after another and frankly it is very sad. The old Axl circa 1987-94 used to be like that, but this new Axl is a shadow of he badass he used to be. I hope he has a gut-check soon and tries to recapture some of that drive and hunger he used to have confused

And that is another reason why I admire axl. He could give two shits about peopels misconceptions, rumors, and theories about new gnr. Until he and the band is ready he will remain quiet holed up in the studios busting their ass in the wee hours of the night and not say a word. That to me is very admiring. So while you worry about gnr image that is soley based on rumors they work on what will either make or break them...the music

The fact that he and his band had the world by its balls from 87-94 and then he just decides to pick up and leave is balls. major balls. And with that comes consequences. He and the new lineup have been paying those consequences all of these years as peopel continue to bash this band. But it doesnt really matter because the same peopel that are bashing will be the same people in line asking for an interview if the music is a success. SO while many fans continue to put too much stock into this public image bullshit...to me its pointless.
