Chinese Democracy out 2014!

« on: April 27, 2005, 12:50:25 PM »

In Finland (1991) Axl left the stage during WTTJ, and the song was played instrumentaly. After that, Axl came back and they played 14 Years and so on.. But why did he even leave? Was he just pissed off or something?

I think he wanted to introduce the song but the band started playing it.

Something like that.

Oh, and get rid off that avatar as fast as possible.

I think Axl getting pissed or walking off the stage was a gimmick. He did it too many times during the same song for it to have been spontaneous. When I seen GNR in 1991 Axl got really pissed in the middle of Jungle and stopped the show and cussed out the crowd. When I later realized that he did this during other shows, his tirades didn't seem as cool anymore.

One time Axl stopped WTTJ because someone was takin' photos and yelling some bad stuff about Rose in the front row. Then Axl took his camera and just walked around and talked something to the crowd. Saying that the photographer was a stupid motherfucker. Axl also wanted to fight with him  Roll Eyes I have this on a video.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it the Finland '91 show that Axl talked about in the '92 Rolling Stone article? Didn't he say he totally whigged out in the middle of the show as he was looking around at the band, the crowd, the microphone, etc... and wondered what the hell everyone was doing there... like some kind of surreal out of body experience or something? Huh

We did a show in Finland where I just couldn't understand why I was doing what I was doing. I sat down while I was singing "Civil War," and I was kind of looking at my lips while I was singing and looking at the microphone and looking at the roadies, and everything just shut off. Well, that doesn't make for a very good show. We're out there to win at what we do. And if that means going on two hours late and doing a good show, I'm gonna do it. I take what I do very seriously.

Yeah, it boggles the mind to think of all the cool gigs GNR have got in their vaults. I remember Duff saying they would've wanted to include a Greatest Hits DVD with a selection of unseen footage (or something to that effect), but the record company just put out the regular cd.
