Title: GNR No.1 On MTV2
Post by: Rebecca Duff Rose on February 16, 2004, 03:39:36 PM
Hello again!
Just wanted ta tell you guys if you're interested that GNR got No.1 on MTV2.
The show was called "Top 69 Mightiest Rifts Ever"
Thanks to Slash and the boys SCOM {Sweet Child O Mine!} made number one beating the likes of Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Queens Of The Stone Age etc.
Glad To Know That The Gunner Boys Have Still Got It!

Does anyone know who were in the show- I only seen bits of it!  ::)

Peace Out!

thats sweet, definatley one of the most infamous opening guitar riffs. The only riff i know that is my all time fav over SCOM is Voodoo child by Hendrix. still a killer song : ok:

Slash made Guns n' Roses sound.

I saw this was on but didn't see it when it got to no.1.   Although GnR also got number 30 with Paradise City as-well.

i think this shows how great of a TEAM axl and slash truly were. sure slash didn't want to do scom, but he DID create it. he created tons of amazing shit. axl was great at utilizing the best of his work. they brought out the best in each other.

they were on of the greatest teams of all time. right up there with mick and keith. coincidentally, keith richards didn't want to do satisfaction, which contains what many consider the greatest guitar riff of all time.

And to think Slash said that he didnt expect for that song to be as popular as it was and still is.

Slash said he hated SCOM.

He didnt like any of the softer songs, dont know why, most of them were big hits! I guess Slash wanted to do WTTJ to death.

Damn, just think about what Axl could get out of a talent like Bucket.  He could definetely harness that talent and turn in into greatness.  This is why I still believe.     :smoking:

Title: Sweet Child No.1 on MTV2 Top 69 Mightiest Riffs
Post by: Jonx on April 13, 2004, 12:04:09 PM
Just turned on the TV and GnR were at number 1 of MTV2s top 69 mightiest riffs with Sweet Child of Mine. It was one of those txt in count downs, and there was alot of abusive comments coming Guns way. Although they were pretty poor comments. Typical example: 'how can this poor excuse of a rock band be number 1, bring on linkin park & blink 182' I mean come on, whats wrong with the world?

James.

Sorry about the typo.....What LP songs have better riffs than SCOM.....not many songs have better riffs...its classic.

better than that. will anyone remember the name "linkin park" in 17 years? or a song by them?
it's so obvious. 1 more album and they're gone.

If I was writing a series of  books I would not put Linkin Park or Limp Dick in the same volume as the mighty Guns N Roses. Whoever would not only compare GNR to LP or LB but insist that they are better needs a labotomy.

What fucking dipshit even mentioned Linkin Park and Blink 182 is the same sentence as Guns N Roses?  (Besides me just now)
