Title: Adler On Illusion Demos?
Post by: Guigsdaddy1976 on February 22, 2004, 03:58:25 AM
Hey Everyone,

Did Steven Adler play on any of the Use Your Illusion Demos?  I personally think his drumming style was better suited for the band and would have loved to find out how the records would have sounded if he was the drummer.  I know he played on Civil War and he was on a previously released version of Knockin.  It would be cool to see what he would have done with You Could Be Mind and November Rain.  Do these demos exist?  If so where would I be able to find them?

Thanks

G. Doggy

Blast it!  Forgot that and "Hair of the Dog".  I included "TSI" in the "Following songs" sentence but then forgot to put them in the list of songs.   :-\

When did they play hair of the dog?

05.23.88 - Winnipeg Arena, Winnipeg, Canada
opening for: Iron Maiden
set: It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Rocket Queen, Hair Of The Dog, Out Ta Get Me, Only Women Bleed [Intro] / Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Welcome To The Jungle, Guitar Solo, Paradise City
audio/video recording?: audio
notes: After 'It's So Easy,' Axl mentions they haven't been to Winnipeg in 8 months when they were touring with The Cult. Great surprise performance of Nazareth's "Hair Of The Dog." The band had seen a Nazareth concert the night before this show. Axl dedicates the song to their 20th anniversary, he adds that he hopes GN'R can last half that long!

Out of interest how does Steven's drumming compare to Matts on these songs  : ok:

I liked Steven's drumming for his groove which I think Matt Sorum lacked

They really had no choice but to replace Adler, he was so fucked up he couldn't even get through a whloe song without fucking up numerous times. He's a schmuck, just look at his current state of affairs and the 20 questions he just did

The guy is a fucktard. good riddance I say

stick another drum stick in your hair buddy it's all you are good for :hihi:

Adler plays on the original studio version of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" - the one on the Days Of Thunder soundtrack.

If you could upload Civil War that would be beyond epic dude. I remember even in the thread where people just shared Gn'R televised performances so many people requested that video, but Down on the Farm was as far as we got.. :-\

that farm aid performance was all over the shop. adler just couldnt keep time on civil war.

i wish he could sort himself out. saw a great gig with him n jizzy pearl last year and u could get right up close. he was spot on. but it appears he's alienated all his band mates with the kinda antics that clearly spelled the death of him with guns.

bob

ps - i too would love the locomotive demo! AND the kohd studio with adler. ive got a live recording but prefer how matt played it (mainly the fill on the intro) - pm me!
