Title: Axl Rose and his Hired Guns
Post by: Neemo on June 03, 2004, 04:40:58 PM
Personally, I love what G'n'R was and I like the "new songs". I've been a fan since '87 and I've even bought, Izzy's, Gilby's, Duff's, and Slash's first solo efforts.  In their heyday, it took all five of them to come up with thier hits. not just one or two.

Axl should either release the material already, or, disband G'n'R and start a solo gig.  A few high profile Singers have done it and become successful, Ozzy, Phil Collins, Dave Grohl, Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth. Dave Mustaine when he thought he was done, wrapped up Megadeth. Now he's recording again but is not going to call himself Megadeth. Pantera split and now we have Superjoint Ritual and Damage Plan. Neither Weiland or the rest of STP kept the name when they did solo stuff either.

Put the name to rest and let it be. G'n'r w/o Slash & Duff, ain't G'n'R.  Like I said I liked the new band alot when I saw them. But a new name should be in order IMO

This one has kinda been argured to death...................

My humble opinion is that if AXL Rose says that it is GNR  then it is, its not the same, its different, its a different GNR but it is still GNR., Axl should know.

The emotions I felt when I first heard 'Oh My God' were the same as when I  first heard 'Jungle'.

The music was fresh, different, mean, raw, pure GUNS N ROSES, I dont get that same feeling when I listen to snakepit, VR, Nurotic outsiders etc etc

ps.

I hate the term 'Hired Guns', they are still a band who have written and recorded an albumn together and obviously have faith in the music they have recorded and the project as a whole.

Where is this album they've "written and recorded"?  Axl, Slash, Duff Izzy and Steven (Lesser extent Matt) are G'n'R. (Hell, Slash's top hat was the biggest symbol of G'n'R from what I can remember) And no one but Axl insists on living in the 90's. I know this topic has probably been around many times, but I'm new. lol Just my opinion.

And I almost friggin puked when I heard Oh My God (In fact I think I said "Oh My Fucking God" what has Axl done w/ my favorite band?) how can you even compare that song to WTTJ?!!  Geez!

GNR was as follows

30% Axl
30% Slash
20% Izzy
10% Duff
10% Steven

Just Axl is like 30% of GnR for me. Maybe he could atleast get Izzy to work in the studio with him, no one is a better song writer then Axl/Izzy together

your right GNR isn't GNR without Duff matt/steven
izzy/gilby and especialy not without slash.Slash is the reason I got into GNR in the first place. His guitar playing and his soloing are the main thing that makes GNR song so brilliant. So how could a band without slash be called GNR?The new songs are good and I would go see them play but Axl should change the name and stop claming to be GNR.
