Slash solos. I was watching the Live in Japan '92 DVDs, and there were tons of solos. There were extended solos in the songs, solos between songs, and a few long solos. The intro to Paradise City alone is more of any solo Slash has done on the VR tour.

When I saw them in January, he did a talk box solo during "Illegal I" and then a acoustic solo before "Used To Love Her".

He has definetly done extra solos.. he did some extended stuff on slither, illegal I as mentioned. They just don't have that time to introduce the band stuff. Sex type thing when weiland was up in the crowd they kept playing for a long time with no singing.. Show moves

He didn't do the talk-box solo when I seen VR. I wish he did though. That's one o my favourite parts from the Illusion DVD's

trouble with slash coming from gnr is there are way to many expectations./. Could say the same for new gnr if that ever happens..

Yeah, I saw them in Jersey a couple weeks back and he did a talk box solo and a couple other little things in between songs.  However, his solos in the songs on the album are very un-Slash.  I was very dissapointed in Slash's guitar work on Contraband.  His GN'R and Snakepit guitar stuff make his stuff on Contraband sound very generic and uninspired.

I just wish Slash and Izzy would write another Nightrain together! : ok:

I'm only going by the VR show I saw in MA, vs. the GN'R videos.

I think his playing on "Contraband" is great, esp. "loving the alien." For the next VR, I'd love a ten minute epic, w/a few great solos.

I`m going to see VR soon and I  would like to know what does their setlist look like nowadays? Are they playing You got no right and Loving the aliens? Do they play Wish you were here regulary now? Which Gnr tunes are they playing? Have they already played Come on come in?

WTF!?  The Snakepit records are dreadful.  Anything is better than them.  Nikelback even!

This is the set they played at the most recent shows on the last leg of the tour:

Sucker Train Blues
Do it For The Kids
Headspace
Superhuman
Crackerman
Illegal I
Fall To Pieces
Dirty Little Thing
Big Machine
It's So Easy
Sex Type Thing
Set Me Free

Wish You Were Here
You Got No Right
Mr. Brownstone
Slither

"Used To Love Her" was replaced by "Wish You Were Here".

You don't know what you're talking about.  His guitar playing on the Snakepit albums is amazing.  If you disagree then you don't know jack shit about guitar, buddy.  His solos and riffs are amazing.  They put his bland basic playing on Contraband to shame.

I think there's a good chance they'll throw Loving the Alien and Spectacle in the set since its the last go around for Contraband before they go back in the studio in the Fall to record the next album. They always work on new songs to add to the set whenever they have a couple of weeks off.

So I think starting tonight at Zeppelinfield europe is going to be in for a treat this month!

amen dude.. His playing on snakepit was killer.. I think it's common for most people to just bash after gnr.. I don't say all but it wouldn't suprise me if some never even bought snakepit..

no question about it! the majority who bash haven't bought it or listen to it more than once! Slash's guitar work on both Snakepit albums is unreal! The ballads on Contraband have some great solos but the rockers outside of STB and DLT lack classic slash solos.

you must've not seen VR recently. He plays a lonng solo right before 'wish you were here' and 'you got no right'  at my show in NJ they played  a little Patience instrumently before those 2 songs

It's extremely funny that they do an acoustic version of patience when both slash and duff never even wanted to record it in the first place.

yep, goes to show how bad a liar Axl is. and how he's trying so hard to deflect blame on the other guys but himself.

its not surprising that Slash, duff, izzy like the song since they are all big Stones, beatkes, Pink Floyd, alice cooper fans

oh really first of all they played maybe 30seconds of it instrumently as an intro. Secondly, don't you think it's possible that they didn't agree with the decision to release an acoustic ballad as a single over a rocker at the time but then after they saw the success it had they warmed up to the idea? Same with Slash and Sweet Child o Mine

new gnr is playing all songs they had nothing to do with just to attract fans... it's no suprise axl dropped certain new songs for the 2002 tour rather then dropping afd music, he knew no one came there for that.. The 20-30 second instrumental is going to get tons of fans :hihi:

both are new bands.. Playing a cover or two was how gnr always operated.. Even when they move on they still have the same ways.. They must be the first group that broke up where in their new gigs they played some of their past catalog.. Saying a two second drum intro of ycbm, or a little bit of the opening guitar to patience is why people are going is rediculous.. That can change at any point and the nearly 15 thousand people would still be out on long island watching the show.. I sure as hell didn't go to the shows I saw to hear some covers.. I went to hear the new songs..

But people did go to see new gnr for the old music.. if axl dropped that old setlist the place wouldn't be as crowded..? That would be like metallica giving st anger only....

Axl knows afd is the one album gnr is remembered for that is why his setlist is heavy with those tunes..

Agreed!! LTA is one of my favorites on the album and they totally ignored it...

LTA
Superhuman
DLT

Those are my top 3 (just thought I would throw that in there)

Of course they did! I was there at the PNC Banks Art Center! You didn't notice the extra part after set me free ended where Slash and Dave trade off guitar solos! Dave does  one, then Slash answers with his, then dave does another and slash answers again!

Personally I don't miss the solos, I'd rather hear a cool cover, another GN'R track or a new track than a 10 min drum solo. The small solos Slash may do before a song is enough.

The one thing missing from VR shows is the intencity. I saw the show in sydney aus and i thought it rocked hard but it seemed to me that at least 30% of people were standin there waiting for a guns song.....pathetic. If they had that spark id like to think that everyone would be alot more into it.  Dont get me wrong, i love VR and loved the concert. it just aint guns.....

Did you go first or second night? Second night a lot of the tickets were giveaways as it didn't sell so well.

I went to the first night, and I can assure you (from being crushed front row centre!) that the intensity was there! Some dickheads were chanting "GUNS N' ROSES" before they came out but generally people were rocking as much during VR and STP songs.

what in the hell axl isnt the one thing missing from vr shows get over it he's not w/ slash, duff,or matt plus i think at this point in time scott is the better frontman he's in shape and he still has his voice..... plus if axl gets his shit together we can have both vr and gn'r
